The test of whether a mantra is good or not, that it should sound good as well as it should be economical on hands, left and right hands should be balanced.
When you learn traditional mridanga, you will see that it is not always the "economical" movement patterns that sound good. There are many mantras with seemingly "inefficient" movement patterns that bring out the sweetness of a mantra. e.g. "Da na ti ta na dha dhi na" Even when playing some relas, e.g. "dad dhene ne da dhene..." When you are pushed to the limit of your speed, that is when you focus on the "economical" movements. Which sampradaya of mridanga have you studied? Under what guru? Perhaps it is different in other sampradayas. We have learned in the Gadanhati Sampradaya, under the instruction of Radha Govinda Pal Mahashay, from Sri Dham Mayapur.
@@amarkantkumar4233 Perhaps you mean his hand movements are not so efficient. That is true. He is still learning. There are some mantras where you play double index and double 3 fingers. Seems inefficient but it sounds great. Look up Kaharba Lohara 12 on our channel.
@@KirtanStudiosOfficial I have learnt few mantras from him also, but I didn't like his compositions too much. Mantras of Bablu Prabhu have more beauty I would say.
