The United States has launched a new space force unit at Osan Air Base near the South Korean capital Seoul in a bid to reinforce the allies’ capability of responding to escalating missile threats by North Korea. US Space Forces Korea was set up on December 14, 2022, and is a subordinate of a bigger US Space Force unit established within the Indo-Pacific command in Hawaii in November.
