    Same here. I often love a piece when I first hear it, it may evoke a special feeling in some way, but by the time I have finished learning it and working out all the issues the emotion has dulled from all the repetitions. If only I could fall in love just with pieces that were easy for me! 😂 (Or I become a better pianist...yeah.)

    Do you have any suggestions for improving accuracy without losing the love?

      visionree practice and listening to recordings of the songs you’re learning are the only ways

      visionree on second thought, the best way for a higher-skilled player is just force your emotion out. Create a story with the song. When I play Hungarian Rhapsody n°2, a very difficult song (I’m learning it, haven’t got to the friska yet lmao), I just imagine some little kid who just got into a bad fight or something and brushing it off walking home and picking flowers and enjoying nature and shit, which coincides with the joyous, playful, but at times dramatic, suspenseful, and mysterious parts of the song. If your eyes are open, and you’re at least intermediate level, you’ll be able to subconsciously process the visual information and you’ll automatically play technically, and since you’ve got that emotion and story behind the music, you’ll hopefully naturally translate that into the sounds you’re producing. Listen to virtuousos perform your favorite interpretations of some dynamic pieces and picture a scene.
      Another thing that is good for songs that are about love (heartbreak or happiness, and this is actually better if you’re going through an extremely sad or happy point in life) is to draw from past experiences. Because I only know myself I will provide an example. I had a tough breakup last October and I have never played Liebestraum n°3 as beautifully as when I was in total agony from the depression. However, it would have been harder if I was younger, because I was less experienced and less capable of expressing emotion. So it takes maturity, which you probably have enough of, but as I said, at least a third of it comes from practice.

    i make music on DAWS. But i have a lot of trouble capturing the emotions i want. The closest i ever got to what i wanted was my song treading through hell. I've gotten better at making music, but i have utterly failed at capturing that same emotion of the final battle. I wanna know how to make music that stirs people...and immerses them into a different plain of existence. Music is more powerful than any other art form in my opinion and i want to use it the best i know i can. I know this is just a youtube channel. But if you have any advice i'd love to hear it.

      I'm a beginner who wants to learn to play the piano, been practicing for a few months on the keyboard. My aim is to get an upright piano soon, and progress from there. I am very creative, i have composed many songs, it's almost like every week i have an idea for song. I agree with you about making music to stir people's heart, it's a something i'm trying to work on as well.

      Hopeson Makokha Ah! I'm glad to see someone like you exists :). I don't play any instruments but if i had to pick two it'd be piano and guitar. The best advice i can give for emotionally stirring music, is to find your inspiration. Take something happening in your life. Something hard, and really channel it into something. It might not come out the first time. And there's a good chance it won't, but i promise if you keep throwing ideas on the canvas it'll come together someday.

      StoneTheMason _Music that's very true. I tried using that technique yesterday, i need more practice. I've noticed i have started playing with emotion, i now tend to really express myself once I'm comfortable with a song. But i have so much to learn.

    Great suggestions. You need to know the music inside-out. When the audience hear wrong notes, it takes away from the enjoyment of a piece.
    The other day watched a video performance where a young man was playing Polonaise Op.40, No.1 "Military" by Chopin. He seemed to be hitting all the notes but somehow it sounded a bit cold and mechanical.
    Unlike a violin, the audience needs to see both hands playing gracefully and good facial expressions (not swing back & forth like a yo-yo).

    • @Carlo99yehey
      @Carlo99yehey Рік тому +1

      @@animationspace8550 it's a part of a traditional piano that adds reverb to your music. It's those weird car pedal like levers at the feet level of the piano

    thepianoplayer416 What do you mean by "unlike a violin"?

    • @thepianoplayer416
      @thepianoplayer416 10 років тому +1

      Basically when you play a piano, you'd use both hands playing high & low notes and hands can sometimes cross over. A violin has a different way of playing. For right-handed people like myself, your L is used for pressing the strings and doing the vibrato (shaking effect) while your R is used to pull the bow back & forth. It's a different way of playing and therefore gives the audience a different visual effect.

    "Without the pedal"... YEEEEESSSSS!!!! oh my gosh people ABUSE the pedal, and ruin the music. Like those dreadfully sweet cookies at a potluck.... might as well just bring a 25 pound bag of sugar and live the cookies at home. Best sustain is in the fingers.
