What a stinker of a corner! It also looks like it gets tighter as you get further around it - reducing radius as Bogavonte says below. THE worst bit is NO pace notes, and NO studying the course beforehand - no wonder that everyone goes off this bastard of a corner! Driving along nicely on a nice smooth gravel road and then - SURPRISE!! The yellow-orange one was the best - he was on his side halfway through the corner - and then it was like the song "Hey, I'm drivin' my love away, gotta keep rollin'.........and rollin' and rollin' and rollin' !!!"
That is Ek3 in the Pirkanhovi Ralli 2004. The final of F-Cup championships in Finland. I have load up a clip from the first stage of that rally, not the worst corner ever. But for one car it was. But then another clip from 040614 Waltikka Ralli F-Cup in the summer 2004 with more Corollas and Escorts drifting on and off the roads.
It's interesting how some of the drivers realize they cannot make the corner and immediately countersteer to try to keep from rolling. A couple of them still ended up rolling but two or three others are some of the only ones who kept the wheels on the ground.
The worst one I've seen personally was one that was an extremely tight turn from a straight away. On the left was a huge rock wall. On the right a 100 ft or more drop.
Sounds like the rock wall tommi makkinen bounced off in Corsica many many years ago. Slid the arse into the wall, bounced, spun, rolled, ended with the nose of the evo poking over the drop, I thought he was a gonner.
I was going to ask the same question... I'd like to have @ least seen ONE car make it through. Also, I find it funny that the spectators are all in just about the exact same spot; they go back to their "correct positions" before each car comes through the turn. & I also wonder what the gaps are like between vehicles. We talking 2 minutes? 5? A dangerous 20 seconds?
+1 to that. I think that its due to the fact that yeah, almost all of them locked up, then just flew off the track, except for the ones who rolled haha. It would make sense to me that the corner could be off camber, combined with the loose gravel that just chucked these poor guys off the side.
Outstanding, after all those cars we´re crashed, it is one of the most dangerous corner I´ve ever seen!!!, Watch out pilots, take all the precautions in this kind of situations, thanks for posting it, by the way I love rally, greetings from Costa Rica...!!!
12 years too late, but I'm not sure having everyone crashing into the exact same corner and seeing no one finishing the rally is particularly exciting. It's definitely funny though
Damian Nelson You are not right at all. Had you read the description you would know that these drivers had no pacenotes nor had they studied the stage beforehand.
Damian Nelson "no one has time for that?" Yes, no one has a few extra seconds to spare - especially when watching a video and wondering something. Great argument.
@Schinanigans Just a reminder for eveyone - as is stated in the uploader comment this was a "blind stage" - no rehearsal, no walk through beforehand allowed - so there were no pace notes.
It kind of is. Mud, sand and gravel differ from asphalt is that drifting can actually be more effective than locking the wheels due to the reduced traction.
For those who don't know this rally was in Finland and in Finnish the expression "Oj oj oj" roughly translates to "Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear". Usually it's said to children that hurt themselves but in this case tis guy (probably drunk) uses it sarcastically to mock all the drivers swerving out and damaging their cars.
"Or the best spectator point ever?" Both. The most spectator point in any rally/race is where there are a lot of crashes. Otherwise it'll get boring with cars just speeding past :)

16 years still the funniest rally video ever made.
16 minutes later and I’m still coming back to this video 😂
that one corner in dirt rally 2 that the co-driver calls as a 4 left when its really a 2
What co driver says: "Left four tightens bad camber"
What driver hears: "Flat left"
Only 54% of entries finished this rally. 86 crews retired
It's the driver/passenger that's the problem, not the corner.
These spectators picked the right spot!
I feel for those MKI and MKII Escorts
I’m assuming every co-driver had this in his pace notes as a “left 3”, when it in fact was not a left 3.
For 16 and more years, rally viewers still love to push crashed cars. Love it
"Or the best spectator point ever?"
Both. The most spectator point in any rally/race is where there are a lot of crashes. Otherwise it'll get boring with cars just speeding past :)

Lol yeah I loved seeing him whip out the log book there while upside down too.
1:30 "I'm gonna wreck anyway, so might as well have some fun doing it"
and after this they officially named it the "ajajaj right" xD
imagine the co-driver reading: easy right, fast straight followed by ajajaj right.
It may be a ways into the video, but it's reassuring to know that Mr. Oy-oy-oy-oy makes an appearance here. 🇺🇸💙🇫🇮
Legend goes: they who miss this corner, end up straight in hell...
The Boss was the red Escort MK 2. He had a great 'contingency' plan!
I'm asuming that whoever negotiated this turn, won the race
Worst pace notes ever maybe.
You drive the road in front of you - Jimmy McRae.
the corner has a rapidlydecreasing radius by the looks of it, but the co drivers really should know more about the corner.
The natural thing to do would be to end the clip of someone going cleanly through the corner to roaring applause, but I guess nobody did...
people was having so much fun with it, they would never go back a few meters and warn the drivers about the cornering danger approach =p
@Tacofreak b/c they just noticed the understeer, so they break to lessen the force applied to the tires so they can regain grip.
The spectator was actually the inspiration to the song called 'Vem Dancar Kuduro' by Lucenzo hahaha
