Love your channel and I’ve learned a bunch about kayak camping from your videos. Not familiar with these radios but the features and simplicity sound great. I own several GMRS HT radios and have been using them kayak fishing with my family & friends for quite a while. GMRS is hands down the way to communicate between vessels on the water. Great range and why risk losing an $800 cell phone. No special radio lingo required. Just get a license and be polite and respectful.
Great review Pete. Thanks for sharing as always. These can definitely be handy. They maybe on my list for the future to have a set on me. Will be great for large groups to help communicate.
*Picked up a set last week for my OK, CO, WY, MT trip this week.* I maintain the practice of acquiring good equipment and these fit that status. A bit in the higher price range ($520.00 by the time I got the Accessories I wanted) but worth the experience. I'll let you know our experience following the trip... And add the $35.00 for the FCC Licence.
Could have used these on the current river on memorial weekend. Had a very similar story to the last time the river kings were out there and needed run for high ground
You can talk to your buddy Wade now on your next trip together : ua-cam.com/video/qg2Axvm7YoE/v-deo.html 😆 Rolling Practice Sessions @ The River Kings World Wide Headquarter incoming !!! 😎
all gmrs radios require .. one license good for 5 units. .. gmrs also makes models for mobile and house and most mobile units and house units can be set al to repeater mode
GMRS runs on higher wattage and frequencies. You apply for a GMRS license and pay $70 for a 10-year license. It's regulated by the FCC. You'll get a call sign from the FCC.
@@RiverKingsKayak Very succinct way of putting it River Kings! While the frequencies are shared with license-free FRS radios, you do get increased power limits and access to GMRS repeaters. The license fee recently reduced to $35, is good for 10 years and covers your entire family no matter how many radios you might have! -Nate Rocky Talkie Team

For sure!!
Why do you need a license? Does it have to do with rescue situations?

the capabilities are so much greater, so with that comes a little more responsibility.
