I agree completely with RightDeve regarding the Metamoris fight. Ryron was playing his game (calm and playful) while waiting for his opponent to defeat himself. That was a part of his grandfather's strategy. He executed very well!
Wow! Ryron only used techniques of the GMC blue belt program. I could recognize every single one of them. Thanks Ryron for demonstrating the effectiveness of these more or less basic techniques when applied correctly.
ryron is so good, so comfident, every match looks like sparring session to me, wow, he really represents gracie jiu jitsu at his purest!! helio would be proud if he see this..
Watch both matches again. Here we see Ryron play bottom sidemount which threw off his opponent. In the Galvoa match, we see Ryron go for subs towards the end of the match and it was Galvao who resorted to stalling since he was gassed!
Well also factor in that in this video we see Ryron vs a very solid blackbelt yes but Galvao is one of the best pound for pound BJJ players today. It is hard to be aggresive against someone like Galvao and not gass yourself out.
Strategy. He was looking to conserve energy. When his opponent is less skilled it takes less energy to attack. When he's more skilled it takes more energy to attack. It's quite simple.
Again, you misunderstand my point. No one wanted to see Ryron go balls to the wall against Galvao and just blindly attack him & force subs that weren't there. At least for me, I wanted to see Ryron be a bit more engaged. If Ryon wanted to play guard, at least he should have made an effort to not allow Galvao to pass his guard so easily. He could have done that without expending much energy but he chose not to. He chose to allow Galvao to pass & repass while he just laid there defending his neck.
This camera man announcer should find another day job. He doesn't appreciate the art and is just a bad sport, go home and study this video. Maybe you can learn to submit a guy in your next tournament instead of just going off of points.
So when he goes against some lower tier black belt, no disrespect to the other guy, Ryron attacks, he's aggressive and engaging but when he goes against Andre Galvao, he defends the whole time then calls "Self Defense". Nice, eh?
BULLSHIT, stop being a Gracie apologist. Ryron was completely disengaged the great majority of his match with Galvao. He didn't even attempt to defend his guard when Galvao tried to pass. The fans wanted to see what kind of guard Ryron has, how his guard skills stack up against an aggressive world class attacking BJJ black belt like Galvao and they got shit for it instead. Yes, Ryron threatened a few leg locks at the very end but that was hardly putting Galvao in any serious danger.
Ryron and Renner root for self-defense BJJ not sports BJJ. In self defense, you have to survive against an overall better opponent. Ryron was very clear about that in the post fight interview.
he REALLY wanted that mounted triangle...

Ryron is just on another level and this was several years ago! He had become one with jujitsu.
That was great, Ryron! Your style is very unorthodox. I have so many questions!

i loved how he used wrist isolation lesson
amazing

Wow, that's what I wanna do be calm and relax, that's how you suppose to roll and I salute the Gracie's family :-)
Ryron was teaching a class! 😂😂 He is the best!
@kanguesso did you even see the match? How was he supposed to be "attacking and engaging" from the BOTTOM of side mount?
GM Rorion at the end...respect.
5:35 "IT'S A TRAP"
couldn't say it any better than that..... from the first sec. he was toying this kid
Ryron is just like water...invisible jiu jitsu
The power nap at 4:10 FTW

Connecting Flight in Chicago. I feel like Rener was only trying to get that one submission in the entire time haha.
💯💎💎💎
To be fair to his opponent, he is a first-degree black belt up against a fifth-degree Ryron Gracie haha
a cara do Ryron lutando, na calma... me da mais medo do que qualquer outra coisa...
é aquela calma que todo serial killer possui! hahaha
This was no competition.

4:30 - the opponent is trying to apply a kimura choke mith no pressure, this is not even close to a competition. It looks like a ordinary roll.
+J.A.N. S. A Kimura is a shoulder lock, not a choke. You're talking about a move that doesn't exist.
Yes sure, I´ve wrongly called kimura as a choke. But the guy was in way to apply a kimura with his leg upon the Ryron´s had.
Parabéns Mestre! Isso é que é postura. Abração do jiu-jitsu Búzios.

Keeping it playful and not even breaking a sweat.

Still mad about galvo??? That galvo match had one point Ryron said galvo couldn't tap him did he NO!!!!
if anyone says Jiu Jitsu in the gi is boring, show them this video. Though the announcement lady half way through kinda ruins the mood.
Like a cat, toying with a mouse!!
He should have flown direct
keep it playful.
Ryrons's JJ waaaaaaaaaay above that guy's

You mean just like you are supposed to do against a stronger opponent? Just what BJJ is all about?
Not bad for Rocha, considering this was his his FIRST tournament as a Black Belt...
The other guy was robbed! 😣.........😉😅😄
Ryron and Rorion both look so bored
is it just me or does his opponent look kinda like Joe "Daddy" Stevenson?

@@thinkingdivers4880 Well he lost to Galvao
