After meeting Kara many years ago, where I was an extra'for her music video 'All Night', Kara joins us on Enak Or Denak in Bali, to try Indonesian dishes from the delicious Batagor to flavors of Sate Ayam and Tahu Bulat!

Correction: nasi lemak is not exclusive to malaysia. It is belong to malay people (etnic, not country). Popular in sumatera malay, kalimantan malay, to jakarta malay (betawi). Batavian people call it "nasi uduk". Some javanese name it nasi gemuk, etc

@@Sejenis.terong gemuk = lemak. Jika di melayu lebih mengenal termin lemak, di jawa lebih mengenal termin gemuk. Itu kenapa gw pikir di jokja waktu makan nasi gemuk itu emang asli jawa. Ternyata asal jambi 🤣 aneh, org melayu pake kata gemuk ketimbang lemak. Kalo di jawa berati nasi campur mungkin. Sebab nasi uduk itu punya betawi. Nasi lemak, nasi gemuk, nasi uduk, sama aja.

@@denisaco Javanese never named it nasi gemuk, it's an authentic name in sumatera, eapecially in Jambi and Palembang region. Javanese usually names it kind of nasi gurih, nasi liwet, and still some calls it nasi uduk as well
Malaysia has Nasi Lemak. And Indonesia has Nasi Uduk. 😊

Hi Laurence I'm really impressed with your channel and really greatfull that a bule able to introduce Indonesian food. However, I have a little feedback, I think you need to do a research before making video, especially when introducing food that not even from your own country. You can do some research and which place have good and authentic Indonesian food. I love how you bought foods from streetseller but you know that kind of place cannot guaranty good and delicious food. you can watch Korean Englishman and how he did videos and introduced food to british/foreigners. I think it is better for you to try the food from the vendors you bought form before introducing it to others. since it will be their first and might be last time they tried it. it depends on that first impression. Hope you continue doing better. We support you and thank you for your hard work and effort. God bless!

Nasi Lemak is from Indonesia, the island of North Sumatra, Medan, and it's called Nasi Lemak, whereas in Java it's called Nasi Uduk segi wuduk "The word for "cleaning oneself before worship" among Muslims, and in other areas it is called nasi gurih the difference is in the spices and side dishes, so it's not from Malaysia!
During the Javanese and Sumatran kingdoms, they went to the Malaysian peninsula to make forts, because the Javanese Majapahit kingdom had a conflict, so the Malay kingdom in Sumatra helped build forts up to Singapore and Peninsular Malaysia are Indonesians who brought the Malay language, Javanese, Sumatran food, Javanese food, culture, religion, art, Kingdom, and all originating from the tribal culture of Indonesia.
So don't give wrong information, learn more and find out from smart parents in Indonesia. Don't just give out wrong information regarding Indonesian history!
