UltraHuman AIR Fitness Tracking Ring made the right decision to have you review their product. I don't know how your other viewers feel. But for me when you recommend a product. I know that I want that product in my life. I love that you put out truly, honest reviews.
While I agree about the Trust you have with Steve and his reviews. 99% of them are simply not for me (I don't do "keto" substitutes, sweets, etc). But the two things I did buy (this ring being one of them), 1,000% matched what was described. That's HUGE. Also, I have had ZERO problems sending his video to people who have THEN bought some of his recommendations... AND I have the "Thank You" messages to prove it! LOL... I just wish he wasn't so energetic, talented, kind, and good-looking with a great family... It's like he's just running up the score on lifes scoreboard!
Go middle finger !! Mine is always on my middle finger. Prob looks best on pointer. My size 9 is way too tight for my pointer even after 25 pound weight loss. I was thinking finger would think too.not the case . Most comfy and most impressive on yer flip off finger is the one to choose.😂
As a fellow data geek, I completely understand the appeal of this device. However, I have to be responsible and not spend so much money on it because my smart watch does a great job at most of these metrics anyway and I already own it lol thanks for another great in-depth review! ❤
Just an update on water use. I ordered a ring based on your recommendation (thanks!). The website now says the ring can be underwater for up to 12 hours. I think at the time of your video it was 30 minutes. Since I want to wear it during water aerobics, this was welcome news for me.
Hi Steve. Great review. Thanks for clearing up things for me, lol. I’ve seen you wearing this ring for quite some time not realizing it was the sizing ring. I’m thinking to myself , wow I’m really slipping! Then, thankfully, you go on to say that 2 months have passed. I really have to admire your tenacity with the way you monitor your health and results. I find it interesting the readouts I get in my smart bed, but after the loss of my husband, I’m just trying to get back to keto, lol. I admire you, Terry, and your family. This is one interesting ring! Sorry, but I’d get diamonds!😂😂. Just kidding. You and your family are such an inspiration. Thanks to Courtney and Connor for their service to our country. And to you and Terry who are such a support as well.❤
Thank you! I feel like I’m not losing it, lol! Wishing you the best with it. You really are an encourager. As hard as it is for me, I keep watching. I’ll get there someday, lol.
I think the more gadgets, trackers and apps a person has, the less value there is in the UltraHuman AIR. That said, it does a very impressive job integrating its app with a multitude of other health apps/trackers.
I’ve had an Ultrahuman Air for 4 months now. It replaced two year old Apple Watch so that I could start wearing a nice mechanical watch again. I’d recommend it to anyone in a similar position. It gives me all the health tracking I want (steps, sleep, stress metrics etc) in barely noticeable form factor. It’s been very durable, not a single scratch. I charge it every 5 or 6 days which is nice coming from a daily charge Apple Watch.
I’m not sure I remember how I got a lifetime membership to Oura, but I did. This was several years ago. I do like it even more than my Fitbit Sense, which misses steps taken if pushing a grocery cart. The formulas used to calculate different aspects like sleep, movement and stress differ between them and I assume that each each device has its strengths and weaknesses in each area they try to capture. My Fitbit and Oura differ somewhat, depending upon environmental factors and, sometimes, my food intake before bed. I’m guessing that this is because of what signals each uses to “plug into” its formula for whatever it is measuring. Perhaps I’m just a nerd, but I love trying to interpret those differences. 🤭 Needless to say, I rather enjoy having different interpretations of my “status” in the many areas these devices cover. The areas of information you mentioned are all addressed by both my Oura and Fitbit. Now I’m eager for the Dexcom Stelo to make an appearance.
Not for me, but I was very interested into all that little ring can do! If this is for someone, like you mentioned, then it seems like a VERY good investment!! Thanks, once again, Steve, for all you do for us!!
Great review Steve. I indeed hate the subscription model also. I also really don't like wearing my watch to bed. I also use the withings sleep mat just for extra data. I can see myself buying one of these.
I had another viewer tell me that the Withings mat definitely picks up sounds and movement from more than just the primary user. My wife does a lot of flopping around, especially when she's coming back from a bathroom break and this would explain why the Withings reports so many "sleep disturbances" that I wasn't aware of. Turns out, it wasn't me. 😉
Good review Steve. I just went down the path of looking at fitness watches. I looked at the Fitbit watches real hard, but like you could not justify having to pay a subscription fee, to access all of the data. Ended up with a Garmin. Happy with it so far, but could see myself transitioning to a ring in a couple of years. I was holding out for a CGM watch, but (at the time) figured it might be another 2-5 years, so was surprised to see Samsung’s recent release. Looking forward to seeing how well it does (or does not) work.
Great review but this data would probably make me anxious! I do have to thank you because the screen with different breathing methods fascinated me and I found The Buteyko breathing method which I adore. A British guy has a whole Chanel dedicated to it. You probably already know about this one but maybe your viewers don’t. It increases the oxygen levels in your blood and calms you way down. And the method is counterintuitive. Fascinating!
One of the things I like about the app is that when you have a given biometric that is in the yellow or red zone, it will give you a number of tips about how to improve it. One of the categories that I'm consistently in the red on is "heart rate drop" during sleep. My heart rate doesn't really drop until around 4am, which the app considers "too late". Unfortunately, the suggestions it gives to improve this just don't align with my lifestyle (like eating an earlier dinner). So yeah, I can see instances where the extra data could be anxiety inducing if it didn't seem like something that could be improved.
Nice Review. And I have an Oura Ring. It barely makes 3/4 of a day. So I charge it twice a day, so I get sleep data. BUT I REFUSE to upgrade to a MONTHLY fee based system. Sick and tired of them. 20yrs ago I bought the LIFE TIME subscription of ULTRA EDIT. Still used it today. A one time fee is fine. But I am MIFFED I cannot send my ring in, and have them put a new battery in it. Plus, I don't live and die by the data it gives me. It can be insightful...
I give Oura credit that they were very good about accepting my return of their ring and they refunded me without question, though it was right around their 30 day window.
Not for me but Im totally with you on the subscription thing. I just wont sign up to anything that comes with a monthly fee unless its my TV streaming choices :D
As a content creator, the subscription thing is BRUTAL. Pretty much every audio/video/image editor is subscription based, as is every livestream app and anything that provides stock footage/sounds/graphics.
great review. thank you for doing such a great job! If the Oura Ring did not charge a monthly fee for the app, which ring would you want to have? Thanks so much!
Given that I haven't seen the Oura app in the last couple of years and don't know what improvements they've made to it, I think it would be unfair for me to answer. That said, the UltraHuman app is great and they keep adding features every month. Also, the UltraHuman ring has an ever so slightly smaller exterior diameter, which I find is more comfortable. My experience with customer service at both companies has been very good.
Thanks for the review Steve. There are rumors that Apple plans to release a ring this fall so will probably wait for it. I would love to see a comparison once apple ring is released.
We settled on a RingConn for my husband, because he has large hands and that was the only one that would fit him. I have the Oura 3, I might be interested in a different one, but I'd hate to lose all that history. the monthly subscription annoys me though.
I would be nice if these devices had an import/export feature (for example, through Apple Health), but I think the companies would rather have you locked in to their product.
Interesting. But my main question is: What does this give me if I have an Apple Watch and a Withings Sleepmat and a Withings scale. Is it more accurate or even totally different? I am always a little concerned when data is different. My apple watch sleep data is different from the Withings mat. OH and withings does pick up from other people in the room. I have had a friend stay over on an air mattress on the other side of my apartment and the mat picked up his snoring. I think there is a microphone in there. I don't snore when I wear my CPAP.
I believe it is a more accurate sleep tracker than the Withings mat and it appears that Apple Health prioritizes the sleep info from the UltraHuman over the Withings, if it is a biometric that they both track. Many of the other biometrics the UltraHuman tracks are redundant if you are wearing an Apple Watch. The UltraHuman app, though, ties so many of the biometrics together and can provide information/insights/advice on things like your circadian rhythm, stress, etc. As it looks at sleep data (for example, time for your heart rate to drop), it will give you things to examine in your routine (like how late you are eating in the evening) to help you improve. Weekly, it seems, the UltraHuman app adds more integration with other health apps and it seems the information flow between it and Apple Health is bi-directional. Ultimately, the more trackers/apps you already own, the less the UltraHuman AIR brings to the table.
Damn. Now I don't know if I should get this ring or go for the Withings Scanwatch 2. I hope you can make a video about the integration of the continuous glucose metering. That is something that interests me a lot. They (Ultrahuman) have a product for that but only available in India for now.
I'm with you on subscriptions. I will not buy any product that requires one. Right now I'm waiting to see real world reviews of Samsung's ring. I do not like wearing my watch to bed so the ring might be an option to monitor sleep habits.
I understand subscription fatigue. You buy a property, and then have to pay a "subscription fee" (real estate tax) every year, and always a year behind so they can take away your property if you do not pay the fee for the previous year immediately.
Hi stumbled upon your video looking for smart ring reviews…. But were you ever a tv/ radio host or did docs? You sound familiar for some reason…. Either way,Thank you for the review take care
The main thing I need is blood pressure tracking as found in a lot of smart watches, but not in this ring. The BP is an approximate, but still is helpful for somebody that used to have bad BP; it comes in close to my cuff measurements. So it is way too expensive while missing a primary feature I need. And, yes, subscription fees are shame, so I refuse that sort of thing. My $40 smart watch from Amazon is a far better device for features to cost in my view.
I'm definitely not OCD enough for a fitness tracker. My health plan has provided fitbits and other fitness trackers in the past and I just don't care enough to track. However, as someone that does not wear a watch, this might be worth it as a smartwatch alternative for biometrics. Budgetwise, I'd probably just compile the data from my CPAP, smartphone, and maybe incorporate a $30 Wyze watch.
Since you have an Apple watch, it would be nice to know what capabilities it has and whether it's useful without an Apple Health subscription. I haven't taken the time to research this, but I think I'm ready to ditch my fitbit, probably for an Apple watch.
My model is a few years old, so I can't really speak to the current features. There's no subscription to Apple Health, unless there's some premium option that I'm not aware of.
Does the Ultrahuman tracks your data even when your phone is not connected? For example if you play football and your phone isn't with you? Also can you see your active and passive callories burned seperated?
