I absolutely loved the farm tour! Oh those trees and pastures and brooks even!! What colours and what space! That part was very well done, Jennifer, wind sound and all (which I personally love). I enjoyed the yarn review also, as I get the various types mixed up. Love every part of your podcast, from the weather forecast to the latest update of the farm.
I was touched by how respectful a tribute you paid to your Poppy, Kim, for his sacrifices and for his strength to start a new life despite the horrors of the war. It is important to remember and to honour. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for sharing a video of your beautiful farm and the sheep and horses. Useful info about the different yarn types. What I love most about your yarns are the beautiful colours.

Kim, your sentiments about the thought of going through a war are exactly the same as mine! Here! Here! To the shout out to those who did, and continue to serve in the military!

Enjoyed your episode, and especially your memories of your Poppy. My grandfather fought in WWII and my grandmother recently passed away at 100. She was a 21 year old mother of 2 little boys when he left for the war. I just can't imagine!

Love this episode, have been watching from the first one because I first saw you on Fruity Knitting and was so excited to see you again on that pod cast with your lambs. These are the only two knitting podcasts I value and watch, I've tried many. Thanks for your stories, humour, projects and that family feeling. Also, Andrea or Andrew knitted their daughter her red/orange hiking jacket in your wool.

Wonderful episode from beginning to end. Thank you for your tribute to the men and women who have served and are now serving. I am a military brat and was married to a military man so I know first hand sacrifices made. Loved hearing about "Poppy". Your farm is a dream and your horses are beautiful. Are they Morgans?

Another great podcast! What a beautiful tribute to those who served. My parents were in Belgium during the war a d I can't even imagine what they went through. My dad was too young to serve but became part of the French Resistance for the duration of the war. He never talked about it though. Such horrors they must have seen! I'm knitting with the eldon lace ...the Virgo shawl...in autumn birch and lovingly it. Will knit again with it for sure. Love the video of the farm. I hope I get to see the sheep next time I visit.

I wished I had started binging their podcasts starting with episode not vice versa. Kim’s sweater will be totally awesome. I could never knit that but it stunning

I loved your vlog, the "L'enveloppe' is great and oh, how nice Prince Edward Island is. I'm living in the Netherlands (in the part where tulips aren't grown, only in gardens, and dandelions are abundant (they are called "horseflowers" in Dutch ;)).
And I wanted to share a little story about the Liberation of my mothers family in 1944/1945. This part of the country was liberated during the winter, the total liberation of the Netherlands took half a year longer.
They lived in a little village, and my aunt was 8 years old, my mother only 1 y. In the primary school, 50m from their home, the soldiers, I believe mostly Canadian, were stationed. My aunt told us that she got a taste of chocolate for the first time, and that the men were so nice and sociable to her. She was very sad for months after they left.
We still owe these young and brave men a lot!
    Greetings from Holland, Marleen

Thank you for sharing the stories about your Poppa. My father served in the RCAF as a mechanic on the Spitfires. He never told me of his experiences but opened up to our daughter after she told him she had been to the Canadian cemetery in Normandy while studying in France one summer. It was quite an incredible story to hear and before he died, I did my own research to find details about his service. Surprisingly, I actually found a photo of him and his squadron in a history of the RCAF...gave me shivers. We have NO idea of what they went through but we owe them so much! And thank you for explaining about your different yarns; most informative. I'm going to use some of my first handspun to make a Sheldon for my granddaughter.

Another great podcast ladies and really enjoyed the story about Poppy. You mentioned your other grandad's middle name - Sinclair. I live in the very far north of Scotland in Caithness. The Sinclair were a very influential family in Caithness in the 14th century. There is a ruined castle called Girnigoe and Sinclair. Hope this might be of interest to you!

Lorraine Mackay that’s so cool! We love Scottish history! It was impossible to tell on the video but his middle name was spelled St. Clair. Still haven’t heard from our Mom on where that came from!

Thanks for another fabulous episode. Loved the farm tour and I was wondering where were the dogs? In Australia, sheep farmers rely on dogs to help manage the sheep is that handled differently on PEI? P.S. I had to rewatch the episode with Mabel and Grace, to show my partner. He loved them and their stories. Any chance of a picture of all the bunnies together 🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰

    • @FleeceHarmonyPodcast
      @FleeceHarmonyPodcast  5 років тому

Yvonne Jones we mostly only use livestock guardian dogs on PEI. Sheep are often indoors for a lot of the winter because of the weather here, so indoor handling systems are more common. A herding dog would definitely come in handy from time to time!! We just use a white bucket to lure them!

Another lovely episode! Thank you for sharing about your poppy. I agree, I cannot fathom what they all went through. My pop was also a gentle soul, even after spending four years as a prisoner of the Japanese. It took years for him to talk about it at all as some of the experiences were so horrific. We must certainly never forget their sacrifices.
On another note, love your Sheldon! He reminds me of Shaun the Sheep - my kids and I love Shaun the Sheep; we watch the episodes over and over. So if anyone wants a knitted version of Sheldon, this Shaun pattern is very similar.
