    Difference between the Seu and Leitch incidents: Seu attempted to wrap the arms and ball carrier was low to the ground. Leitch's arm was tucked so it's a shoulder charge and there is no significant dip in the body height of the ball carrier. Seu is low to the ground, Leitch is almost rising into the Collision

      Thank you for your clear explanation. Though as a Japanese fan, I believe that was a fair call from the ref.

      I thought poor call considering the previous call on the try line with Seu. Zero consistency.
      Leitch was barely moving in the collision.
      Ruined what would have been a fair game.

      @obaraabraham9934 Рік тому +1

      @zytrik1 Lealiifano made his debut for Australia against the British and Irish Lions in 2013 but was set to feature for Samoa at the 2019 World Cup in Japan due to a loophole that allowed players to switch nationalities if they played in the sevens Olympic qualifying tournament. Happened for many players; also, one can switch to ancestral country like Folau,Bundee Aki,Piutau, etc.

    Samoa have great upside. They beat a team who had camp already with 2 matches against NZ xv with quality coaches.
    Also, theyre missing quality lineout jumpers Luatua and Vui. Having those 2 with Seu will have a solid lineout which was disappointing today.
    But that scrum....well done skipper and Lay. Did tremendous in the front row.

    That first yellow card was strange. The tackler was low and the ball carrier moved lower into the tackle. How can you blame the tackler in this case if he is not able to see because of his position in trying to make the tackle?

      The law states that if he makes direct contact with the head it has to be a card. Those factors reduce it to a yellow

      @@rorybessell8280 I get that about the law but if he is making a genuine attempt to tackle low as required by the law it makes it difficult. On the other hand it could be argued that if the tackled player ducks into a tackle then he is also responsible in some way

  • @ozmanoshe
    @ozmanoshe Рік тому +7

    I felt like our boys didn't deserve to win that game.
    I question their commitment when everytime Japan made a clearing kick from inside their 10m, not a single player attempted to charge or put pressure on the kicker. As a result Japan kept carving off the metres on these kicks. Where is the passion and the pride at representing your country? I guess it corresponds to the size of the pay check.
    Apart from the plodding performance, the handling was abysmal. Motuga continues to have some of the worst fuf hands I've seen. He dropped tons of ball back in the sevens days and has kept right on doing it for the 15s. It's an aspect of his game he just can't seem to fix.
    Our wings are also sooooo slow. Foma'i is about as fast as Maposua was at the end of his career and he once got chased down by a prop! Ed Fidow actually does have pace but is one of the biggest defensive liabilities and is incapable of reading the game, all of which was on show yet again tonight. It's really hard to understand why the coaches keep picking him when they know these things about him. The plodding attack from Samoa was matched by an equally slow d line that struggled to form a proper chase line and with many unable to get up off the ground and back into the line before 2 phases had passed. Basically the only thing that saved them from being justifiably thrashed was that red card. At many times it looked like Samoa had 14 men and Japan had 15 they were so slow.
    I am hopeful that this game was used to highlight who shouldn't make the cut for the final world cup squad and hopefully the coaches are in a position where they can tell these guys their commitment in this game just wasn't good enough. Any players who think they are doing Samao a favour by making themselves available to the Manu should be dropped, that kind of mindset will be toxic to the rest of the team and will undermine the coaches authority over the players.
    Go da Manu.

      @ozmanoshe Рік тому

      @meref9973 I don't think it's the coaches fault. They are limited by the players they have to work with and it's a tough job navigating all the egos in the team and guys who are there on long ago reputations and then getting the best out the rest. Maposua has proven to be a far better coach than Aaron was and I'm always hopeful that these boys will give it their all and make our country proud. Otherwise they should be honest about why they're there and give a chance for others with more desire to make their mark and earn recognition and a career with ovrseas clubs. Hopefully Maposua can find a way to create good competition for positions and ensure the players are all aware the team is bigger than the individual. Brian did a really good job with the sevens and there were some real ego problems in that team as well that he had to juggle.

    Rugby Union is dying on its knees and things like the red card don't help. It ruined the game... it ruined the result and the fact of the matter is the sent off player would have had to go invisible to avoid the collision... the referee said "The first tackle does not mitigate the second tackle" but what is he supposed to do... he's in the way nothing more. There will always be incidents like this... that's the point of the game, fractions of a second... player runs at you and collides with you... what does he do... duck to get lower... get out of the way? It wasn't a red card two years ago... it shouldn't be now.. how many world cup games are going to be decided by similar decisions when one team goes down to 14 men. As for the constant interruption of the TMO... let the ref referee the game... if the ref misses it he misses it... game flows. Then if there is a score check back. I know a number of rugby fans and ex-players who have lost their love of the game because of over officiating and constant interruptions.

      The NFL liability for blows to the head is over US $1billion and rising. Rugby has a similar problem, but could never afford that level of payout. What part of “life threatening” don’t you understand? World Rugby has no choice but to crack down on blows to the head, and all of the teams, all of the players, and all of the officials have been told clearly and unequivocally that they have to keep contact low. When they don’t, they will be carded and likely suspended. End of story. End of controversy. People like you will not be satisfied until a player is killed. Some junior players have already died from repeated concussion. Retired rugby players are suffering a host of symptoms from brain damage. Maybe you have a different kind.
