What stands out to me is that Aventon is missing the Boat! Put the motor and battery from the Aventure 2 into the Level 2 commuter bike and Take My Money.
Bought this ebike last week and it's all that he said. It's my first ebike and i'm blown away, very well built like European bikes i rode living in Germany. Great quality and just like my Alu Cab Canopy Camper, it gets all eyes on when i'm out. Now I have 2 show stoppers!!! The bike is smooth/ durable can get up to the speed you need. Love the torques system as well. And lastly, i do use the turning signals lol!!
I'm all for traditional ebike companies, but do you think fat tires might just be the way to go for comfort at this point in time? So many traditional ebike companies make great bikes that are on the stiff side. I've never really had comfort complaints about bikes until my ebike.
I’ve had one for 2 weeks now. I absolutely love it. I can go up the steepest hills that I couldn’t go up before. So many great features on this bike and rides. Great. Very comfortable.
Good bike. My downers - no rear suspension, low ground clearance- petals & center fame, would like skid plate and tuck in low wire. fun and well liked.
I wonder how the tires hold up against goat heads. Mostly all my roads/paths have them and I have to slime my tires. What Psi in fat tires for a 250lb rider?
amazing value and great generalist for those who don't know exactly what they want or will use a powerful ebike for. I have the first aventure and the torque sensor would really make it that perfect generalist bike. Mine is a bit of a lemon, have had many issues with it. Which is where a lot of these bikes will suffer. Aventon has blown up and is still trying to grow to meet it. Parts and service can and will take quite a while. Happened to me twice. Thankfully the issue was (mostly) during the off season. I am now in the market for a bike that will better suit my needs. Now I know what they are and know I definitely love and will use an ebike. This makes it much easier to drop money on some of the more expensive, purpose built bikes that will ride better and be more reliable and/or easier to maintain.
Nice video! I just reviewed this on my channel as well. It’s great for off road use, but I still lean toward the Soltera 2 for the road. I like how light and nimble it is.
I think, this is now the benchmark of budget e-fatbikes and I really really really hope, that the implementation of the torque sensor gets standard at all companies. I line bikes like the Himiways but the power delivery is close to be dangerous. Some love it, but this is like starting with a burnout at every green traffic light. It’s stupid and it kills the electronics over the time. I wish, they would sell these bikes in Europe, too. From my perspective they’re the best looking budget fatbikes on the market, so I can only agree to your argumentation.
I am new to the E bike world, I live in Vermont and I am looking for a commuter bike and I am really liking this one. I like the fat tires since I will be using this all year around my commute to work is 6.7 miles one way I’m sure the bike would be enough for that. My question is I see there’s two options one with a bar for your leg and the other version has no bar. What’s the difference? Just preference?
If you’re referencing the step through (ST) vs this version, it is a preference thing. Step throughs are easier to mount as you don’t have to swing your leg so high to get on, and shorter riders to the frame height may prefer that ease.
Thanks for your honest and through review! As a current Aventure rider, I would have loved to have had a second tail light and a rear rack standard. However, I feel I must add a caveat regarding torque sensors in general. I'm an older rider (74 y.o.) but I still enjoy riding at class III speeds at times. My previous ebike had a torque sensor and I found that, to sustain class III speeds I had to pedal (for me) REALLY HARD! I like to feel pedal resistance when riding, but this was way too much effort for my legs to maintain for any length of time. The upright sitting position doesn't help either. I'm sure many younger people will feel as you do, but my advice to seniors: Go for the original Aventure while it's still available - It's really a great bike!
Or do as Juiced does and offer the rider the ability to choose which mode to use. Except for their RipRacer, they come with both types of sensors, with the torque sensor being the default driver. However, you can tell the display to ignore the torque sensor and use the cadence sensor only. More brands should offer this ability.
@@allenwhitehead7246 The Lectric XPremium is an example of one. For $1,799, you get a dual-battery, mid motor (Truckrun, 65Nm peak torque) folding ebike. Juiced has a couple models under $2k with the ability to toggle between modes. There are probably more examples I can’t recall off the top of my head. I suspect my Ride1Up LMT’d could do so if the display’s software allowed it. It uses a Bafang bottom bracket with embedded torque sensor. It feels like it also has a cadence sensor as I can hear the hub motor engage at low power if I ghost pedal very lightly. With a torque sensor, you don’t even need a separate cadence sensor. All the software has to do is treat the signal from the torque sensor as an on/off trigger (probably need to set a minimum threshold to avoid accidental motor output) rather than as a multiplier factor as it does now. So, software changes are all that is needed.

@@chow-chihuang4903 It's funny that you should mention the XPremium. It was the "previous ebike" I was referring to in my original post. I liked the range, the mid-drive, but to sustain speeds over about 22 mph required much more effort than I was willing or able to put in. That may have had something to do with the 500 watt motor. I believe that Lectric chose that power option to keep the price under 2K. As to the potential of better programming and more user-selected options, there is SO much room for improvement there!
He seemed way more enthusiastic about the Aventure 2 vs the Level 2. I mostly ride on bike paths and streets but I tend to go fast. Is Aventure 2 still worth it over the level 2 if I just use it on bike paths? Seems level 2 has a difficult time reaching the 28 mph
Edge goes to the Aventure. The Basalt has more raw power which is fun, but we like the more dialed in feel of the Aventure 2 (and it's not like it lacks for power). If you don't forsee getting the inverter or solar panel for camping or something on the Basalt, the Aventure 2 gets the nod for us. You aren't going wrong with either one though.
PAS is now Eco, Tour, Sport, and Turbo. Was tested in Turbo, averaged 16.2 mph in a class 2 setting and it was performed on bike paths so lots of slowing down to be courteous to other riders.
Seems great. I'd like to see more range with a bigger battery. Other companies are offering that, and that's VERY appealing to most people. Even if you don't go as far as the max range, I think everybody appreciates the idea of a buffer of extra miles to spare, and less worry about getting stranded. I guess they would have to change the downtube size though(?)
They might have to change the downtube, yes. We're always torn on the buffer point. More = greater peace of mind for sure. But more raises the cost and weight, and might not be necessary for most people? It's a tough balancing act for sure.

Does having a torque sensor make it a higher quality bike? I do like the lights. Good safety feature. Otherwise you can save a chunk of money getting the original model.
Most people would say yes, but it's a preference thing on the torque sensor. The more natural feel is nice, but some people with limited mobility actually prefer cadence sensors.
These things can slay hills if you are allowed to turn it into Class 3. I love flying up steepies at 20mph and having people turn their heads in awe at the power.

Living in South Florida off road and hills are not much of a concern. Really trying to determine if Level 2 or Aventure 2? For me its a tough decision. Happy to hear any opinions.
There's benefits to fat tires even on paved roads. Wider tires make it more stable, and if you let a little air out of the tires it can be a soft ride. I think the Aventure has a bit of a power advantage if you like more speed, where the Level does a better job of coasting and gets around a little easier in lower PAS.
I just got and Adventure 2 and rode thought shin deep water & mud. The fat tires really help the bike from not sliding out and the power of the class 3 pushed it through 300 yeard of mud and water that I thought I was gonna be stuck and walking it out. So even on flat ground it’s worth it.
I bought the 2022 version at $1600 from a dealer that has treated me very well. I live around many different hills and going up the roads are much better than going downhill. I feel I’m going to wear the brakes early and I think it would really help it there was a re-genitive braking though the motor.
I like how aventon is listening to its customers and making instant changes to incoming bikes. Most of the compliaints where solved. Lights on both sides with turn signals, comes with racks and fenders, sensor is better for people who still want to burn calories, unlocked trottal only to full potential instead of being stuck at 20mph. The design and look are awesome but everything is hidden inside the frame where it makes maintenance very difficult when things need fixing without going to a shop. The battery and motor size are not matching their competition. Ariel rider kepler is 1000w bafang motor 2000w peak 52v 20 amp hr with high end LG battery sells and can go further and faster at about 35 mph. And the new made in chicago wicked freedom ebike has a 70v 20AH LG battery 40amp controller with 1000watt motor and 2400w peak with steel renforced gears crazy good customer service and the bike will go over 40mph but still has no issue if you want to pedal around at 5mph. Both these bikes are $2k or less and very easy to work on as all components are on the outside of the frame. So if your all about performance there are much better options at the same price, if your more about the look of the bike and would rather stay and those slower speeds pick up and Adventure. The adventure does have one extra gear, slightly better shifter, and nicer frame. But really all the money you spend on these ebikes should mainly be in the battery, motor, and controllers where you want that performance.
Sounds like you definitely know everything about e-bikes. I need help. Every “best e-bike list” is different. I’m looking for something to ride to work which is only a few miles BUT I might wanna DoorDash/UberEats when I’m in downtown Charlotte so I want something with longer range/long battery life and can go higher than 20MPH. I’ve seen 28 is max on most, can I go higher? I don’t plan on riding the bike in woods or trails, mainly just street roads. All under a $2,000 budget? Possible? Any recommendations?

You will find for everyday commuting you will probably stay in the 15-20mph range anyways so yea there are bikes like the keplar or the wicked ebike that can go over 35mph but its not really ideal to go that fast on a ebike anyways plus technically its not leagal either. The lectric is 100% legal everywhere so you wont have to hassel with the cops if it becomes an issue. Get a quality seat, suspension seat post, and light not the ones sold by lectric. Just get the bike from lectric they do come with a free passenger seat right now which is fun that goes on the 150lbs rack that comes welded to the bike frame. The bike folds so if you are 10 milea out and the thing breaks down just call and uber fold it up and your home cant do that with other non folding bikes. The motor is 500w but keep in mind it oeaks and 1000w so it is powerful. The throttl only is upto 20mph and 28mph if you are peddeling hard in pas 5.
35-40 mph is illegal all over the U.S. So having the extra wattage and speed doesn't really help anyone. Maybe the maintenance side of things you have a point on, but Aventon is trying to stay within the limits of the law lol
Where did you record the part where the bike path is next to the highway? I use my Aventure as a commuter for work & such, & I LOVE riding on bike paths like the one shown.
What is the torque rating (nm) for this e-bike? I don't care for the need to download an app to be able to upgrade to Class 3. I have no smart phone, and wouldn't use any of the other trivial info that comes in the app. I'd only use the app once, then never access it again. Aventon should think of some other way for owners to upgrade from factory setting. Send it to us as a Class 3, if we request it in a direct order .... or allow bike shop to upgrade it from Class 2 if we buy it there. btw, black and gray aren't really colors, so some other choices would be appreciated. I like the lighting upgrade and standard rear rack.
What stands out the most on my advent aventure 2 is I can’t get an extra battery cover in slate gray for my extra battery that I paid $500 for a month ago. I also ,after the last update, can’t unlock to 31 mph anymore it keeps defaulting to 27 mph..
Torque sensing is the way to go, although I'd like to see a larger battery (18ah or higher) for margin as the battery ages. How do you remove the battery and can it be charged separately from the bike? A general comment, I'd like you to show how bikes are turned on and battery removed in your videos.
Looks like a great update. Anyone know how much slightly more narrow tires (somewhere in the 3 or 3.5 in range) would save weight wise? Also, how much does the battery contribute to the weight? Wondering about bike rack weight with the battery in the vehicle. Thx
If you want lighter weight and don't mind narrower tires, you might look at the Level.2. It has a lot of the same features, including torque sensor and suspension fork, and is a whole lot lighter.
@@otterishly777 yes, been considering that ever since the level2 was announced. I do wish it allowed a slightly wider tire (into the low 3’s) but there isn’t much clearance to go much above stock.
I am really stuck between making this decision as-well cause i really want this bike for daily ride to work and back (25miles) each way, but i also love trail riding. Just dont know how the adventure will do to work and back compared to level 2. Any advice ?
im 6ft 380 lbs.....would u recommend the bike to me...i know i come in under the weight capacity but my concerns are brake response.......battery usage in conjunction with the motor engaging to push the bike further with my added weight?
Shouldnt be a problem. Im sure your legs are pretty strong which will help with a torque sensor. Of course you will burn more battery on hills especially and more brakes in general but hopefully the more you ride the less your weight will be an issue..🤘✌️
We haven't ridden any Hovsco bikes so couldn't really say one over the other out of fairness. However, on it's own the Aventure 2 proved to be a phenomenal bike.

The v1 felt somewhat out of control and not in tune when doing a turn or U turn. I felt it was deciding when to apply power and on gravel, it kicked out in me. Not a good thing for me. So, I bought the Adventure 2

Ive never ridden a torque sensor equipped ebike. Would you recommend upgrading just for this feature? The only thing that really bothers me about my aventure is how long it takes pas to engage. Often 2-3 full rotations. Feels like an eternity..😡
Sounds like yours needs some tuning. It depends: if you can get good resale value on your current one then sure, it's a good bike made better going from 1.0 to 2.0. But if you're not getting good return selling it used then it's not the type of thing that's worth taking a $500+ haircut on.
Looks like they've taken some of the burden off of the rider in regards to adjusting gears and levels. I find it unnecessary given certain tricks with the throttle which can be performed. A fine improvement, nothing too crazy. Woulda liked a better fork.
I have a Class-1 mtb. My sister and her husband just bought one each of these bikes. My friend has a Class-2 cruiser. And they love them. My question for class two bikes is why aren't they considered electric mopeds? Yes you can pedal, same as a moped. It does have shiftable gears as opposed to a cone style shifting u it, but, and I have no problem with these bikes, is if you can just ride throttle alone, why aren't they considered mopeds, Is it just the looks? It looks like a bicycle? Is it people don't want to own mopeds but they want to own an electric bike?
And its use is to lock the battery into place? Sorry, I'm new to ebikes, and I want to fully understand how they work. In order to protect against theft and such.
Personally I'm not liking the new format of these videos. The presenter is not a confident as previous ones. Not enough riding footage either. In this case he mentioned turn signal function but never showed how you control it.
I have this bike and it’s cool, but I regret not getting somethng lighter and more nimble. This bike becomes virtually useless without the motor, and it weighs as much as a fridge.
*** WARNING !!! **** Bought this after seeing many good reviews. Be aware that their battery BMS is AWEFUL. In the instructions it says that you must disconnect the charging battery within 2 hours of fully charged and never more than 12 hours. In other words, plug it in and check every hour until done?!?!?! REALLY?!?!? If you ride and want to plug in and forget it until the next day, this is NOT THE BIKE FOR YOU. Everything I own...literally everything with a batter can be plugged in and forget it without a problem....except this very expensive bike.
Most of the purchasers of this bike will have no idea of what a pedal strike is until they go down from one. The clearance between the bottom of the pedal and the ground is simply not enough to be safe on this bike, particularly in off road situations which is what the bike is marketed as. A friend of mine just went down from a pedal strike turning on another e-bike and needs hip surgery. I personally think it’s incumbent on the so called leaders in the industry to actually lead the way. Fixing frame defects, adding hydraulic brakes, and obtaining UL certification is kinda of the bare minimum. Regardless, Aventon should tweak the frame to save its customers and prevent future lawsuits, it’s good business.
I can really appreciate a good bike review unfortunately this isn't one of them. This is basically a paid advertisement. Aventon is basically the best of the junk. As long as you realize this and don't plan on using your bike much it could very well meet your needs. Strip away the motor, battery and controller these are just cheap $3-$400 Walmart bicycles.
At first, without the electronics, this would be a bike in the 600$ range. It has overall better parts than the rest of the bunch. But here comes the point, with the torque sensor you’re going up in the territory of way more expensive bikes. So I can‘t follow your argumentation. Aventon is checking many boxes with this bike. The two things that you could change is the derailleur up to Alivio and maybe the suspension fork. But the rest? What do you want to see more on this bike? Thats not a sports bike, it’s a cruiser just for daily usage.

However, if you're looking for a basic model to try out eBiking this is a great choice. The assembly is easy as far as bikes go (took about an hour for me to do, I'm not an expert). All tools needed are included. I added the plastic mud guards you see and a more comfortable seat. The other reviews are correct that you're probably going to want a better seat (Giddy Up! Bike Seat is what I got - super comfortable). The battery easily handles a 2-4 hour ride if you add some of your own pedal power. I haven't even gotten it up to top speed yet - it is very fast. Components are not top of the line, but decent for the price and work just fine. It works great on dirt roads and singletrack and pavement although too heavy to do tricks or any serious technical mountain biking. I'm looking forward to using it a lot over the summer. Tons of fun!

We do. We're hoping to release that later this year. Small team and living docs like that get a bit complicated with all the other responsibilities.

Juiced has a couple models under $2k with the ability to toggle between modes. There are probably more examples I can’t recall off the top of my head.
I suspect my Ride1Up LMT’d could do so if the display’s software allowed it. It uses a Bafang bottom bracket with embedded torque sensor. It feels like it also has a cadence sensor as I can hear the hub motor engage at low power if I ghost pedal very lightly.
With a torque sensor, you don’t even need a separate cadence sensor. All the software has to do is treat the signal from the torque sensor as an on/off trigger (probably need to set a minimum threshold to avoid accidental motor output) rather than as a multiplier factor as it does now. So, software changes are all that is needed.

Usually I prefer my bike’s torque sensor, but when the knee acts up or when I’m carrying a heavy load on the rack and towing yet more in a trailer, I’d really prefer a cadence sensor!
@@chow-chihuang4903 It's funny that you should mention the XPremium. It was the "previous ebike" I was referring to in my original post. I liked the range, the mid-drive, but to sustain speeds over about 22 mph required much more effort than I was willing or able to put in. That may have had something to do with the 500 watt motor. I believe that Lectric chose that power option to keep the price under 2K. As to the potential of better programming and more user-selected options, there is SO much room for improvement there!

He seemed way more enthusiastic about the Aventure 2 vs the Level 2. I mostly ride on bike paths and streets but I tend to go fast. Is Aventure 2 still worth it over the level 2 if I just use it on bike paths? Seems level 2 has a difficult time reaching the 28 mph

Edge goes to the Aventure. The Basalt has more raw power which is fun, but we like the more dialed in feel of the Aventure 2 (and it's not like it lacks for power). If you don't forsee getting the inverter or solar panel for camping or something on the Basalt, the Aventure 2 gets the nod for us. You aren't going wrong with either one though.

How is the bike when the battery is dead or whenever you just want to ride the bike with no assist or motor going?
On the range test, how fast were you going for 31.21 miles? And on pas 4 or 5?
PAS is now Eco, Tour, Sport, and Turbo. Was tested in Turbo, averaged 16.2 mph in a class 2 setting and it was performed on bike paths so lots of slowing down to be courteous to other riders.

Seems great. I'd like to see more range with a bigger battery. Other companies are offering that, and that's VERY appealing to most people. Even if you don't go as far as the max range, I think everybody appreciates the idea of a buffer of extra miles to spare, and less worry about getting stranded. I guess they would have to change the downtube size though(?)
They might have to change the downtube, yes.
We're always torn on the buffer point. More = greater peace of mind for sure. But more raises the cost and weight, and might not be necessary for most people? It's a tough balancing act for sure.

Does having a torque sensor make it a higher quality bike? I do like the lights. Good safety feature. Otherwise you can save a chunk of money getting the original model.
Most people would say yes, but it's a preference thing on the torque sensor. The more natural feel is nice, but some people with limited mobility actually prefer cadence sensors.
These things can slay hills if you are allowed to turn it into Class 3. I love flying up steepies at 20mph and having people turn their heads in awe at the power.

Living in South Florida off road and hills are not much of a concern. Really trying to determine if Level 2 or Aventure 2? For me its a tough decision. Happy to hear any opinions.
There's benefits to fat tires even on paved roads. Wider tires make it more stable, and if you let a little air out of the tires it can be a soft ride. I think the Aventure has a bit of a power advantage if you like more speed, where the Level does a better job of coasting and gets around a little easier in lower PAS.
I just got and Adventure 2 and rode thought shin deep water & mud. The fat tires really help the bike from not sliding out and the power of the class 3 pushed it through 300 yeard of mud and water that I thought I was gonna be stuck and walking it out. So even on flat ground it’s worth it.
I bought the 2022 version at $1600 from a dealer that has treated me very well. I live around many different hills and going up the roads are much better than going downhill. I feel I’m going to wear the brakes early and I think it would really help it there was a re-genitive braking though the motor.

I like how aventon is listening to its customers and making instant changes to incoming bikes. Most of the compliaints where solved. Lights on both sides with turn signals, comes with racks and fenders, sensor is better for people who still want to burn calories, unlocked trottal only to full potential instead of being stuck at 20mph. The design and look are awesome but everything is hidden inside the frame where it makes maintenance very difficult when things need fixing without going to a shop. The battery and motor size are not matching their competition. Ariel rider kepler is 1000w bafang motor 2000w peak 52v 20 amp hr with high end LG battery sells and can go further and faster at about 35 mph. And the new made in chicago wicked freedom ebike has a 70v 20AH LG battery 40amp controller with 1000watt motor and 2400w peak with steel renforced gears crazy good customer service and the bike will go over 40mph but still has no issue if you want to pedal around at 5mph. Both these bikes are $2k or less and very easy to work on as all components are on the outside of the frame. So if your all about performance there are much better options at the same price, if your more about the look of the bike and would rather stay and those slower speeds pick up and Adventure. The adventure does have one extra gear, slightly better shifter, and nicer frame. But really all the money you spend on these ebikes should mainly be in the battery, motor, and controllers where you want that performance.

Sounds like you definitely know everything about e-bikes. I need help. Every “best e-bike list” is different. I’m looking for something to ride to work which is only a few miles BUT I might wanna DoorDash/UberEats when I’m in downtown Charlotte so I want something with longer range/long battery life and can go higher than 20MPH. I’ve seen 28 is max on most, can I go higher? I don’t plan on riding the bike in woods or trails, mainly just street roads. All under a $2,000 budget? Possible? Any recommendations?

You will need to get the $50 battery balancer and your set. The lectric xp 3.0 standard will come with a 10ah battery and you can add another 10, 15, 20 or more ah battery as you choose. The bike is quick when unlocked 28 mph, is not too expensive, and is backed by a quality usa based company in arizona. They have a bike repair shop network all over the usa. To unlock the bike you hold + and - scroll to P08 and set to 100 for max speed. You will find for everyday commuting you will probably stay in the 15-20mph range anyways so yea there are bikes like the keplar or the wicked ebike that can go over 35mph but its not really ideal to go that fast on a ebike anyways plus technically its not leagal either. The lectric is 100% legal everywhere so you wont have to hassel with the cops if it becomes an issue. Get a quality seat, suspension seat post, and light not the ones sold by lectric. Just get the bike from lectric they do come with a free passenger seat right now which is fun that goes on the 150lbs rack that comes welded to the bike frame. The bike folds so if you are 10 milea out and the thing breaks down just call and uber fold it up and your home cant do that with other non folding bikes. The motor is 500w but keep in mind it oeaks and 1000w so it is powerful. The throttl only is upto 20mph and 28mph if you are peddeling hard in pas 5.

35-40 mph is illegal all over the U.S. So having the extra wattage and speed doesn't really help anyone. Maybe the maintenance side of things you have a point on, but Aventon is trying to stay within the limits of the law lol

I don't care for the need to download an app to be able to upgrade to Class 3. I have no smart phone, and wouldn't use any of the other trivial info that comes in the app. I'd only use the app once, then never access it again. Aventon should think of some other way for owners to upgrade from factory setting. Send it to us as a Class 3, if we request it in a direct order .... or allow bike shop to upgrade it from Class 2 if we buy it there.
btw, black and gray aren't really colors, so some other choices would be appreciated. I like the lighting upgrade and standard rear rack.

What stands out the most on my advent aventure 2 is I can’t get an extra battery cover in slate gray for my extra battery that I paid $500 for a month ago. I also ,after the last update, can’t unlock to 31 mph anymore it keeps defaulting to 27 mph..

Torque sensing is the way to go, although I'd like to see a larger battery (18ah or higher) for margin as the battery ages. How do you remove the battery and can it be charged separately from the bike? A general comment, I'd like you to show how bikes are turned on and battery removed in your videos.

It has a key that allows you to remove it from the frame, and yes, you can charge it off the bike.
Looks like a great update. Anyone know how much slightly more narrow tires (somewhere in the 3 or 3.5 in range) would save weight wise? Also, how much does the battery contribute to the weight? Wondering about bike rack weight with the battery in the vehicle. Thx
If you want lighter weight and don't mind narrower tires, you might look at the Level.2. It has a lot of the same features, including torque sensor and suspension fork, and is a whole lot lighter.
Another reason to consider this route is that heavy bikes are hard to handle in off-road situations.
@@otterishly777 yes, been considering that ever since the level2 was announced. I do wish it allowed a slightly wider tire (into the low 3’s) but there isn’t much clearance to go much above stock.
I am really stuck between making this decision as-well cause i really want this bike for daily ride to work and back (25miles) each way, but i also love trail riding. Just dont know how the adventure will do to work and back compared to level 2. Any advice ?

Shouldnt be a problem. Im sure your legs are pretty strong which will help with a torque sensor. Of course you will burn more battery on hills especially and more brakes in general but hopefully the more you ride the less your weight will be an issue..🤘✌️

No. You won't damage the gears with a hub drive motor, but you'll still have the best performance if you shift to the proper gear.

We haven't ridden any Hovsco bikes so couldn't really say one over the other out of fairness. However, on it's own the Aventure 2 proved to be a phenomenal bike.

I went today and rode both the adventure and adventure 2.
Without a doubt, the torque option on the 2 was vastly better for me. The v1 felt somewhat out of control and not in tune when doing a turn or U turn. I felt it was deciding when to apply power and on gravel, it kicked out in me. Not a good thing for me.

I think so. We have two 6'5" riders who ride the large frame and say the feel comfortable.

Ive never ridden a torque sensor equipped ebike. Would you recommend upgrading just for this feature? The only thing that really bothers me about my aventure is how long it takes pas to engage. Often 2-3 full rotations. Feels like an eternity..😡
Sounds like yours needs some tuning. It depends: if you can get good resale value on your current one then sure, it's a good bike made better going from 1.0 to 2.0. But if you're not getting good return selling it used then it's not the type of thing that's worth taking a $500+ haircut on.

Looks like they've taken some of the burden off of the rider in regards to adjusting gears and levels. I find it unnecessary given certain tricks with the throttle which can be performed. A fine improvement, nothing too crazy. Woulda liked a better fork.

I have a Class-1 mtb. My sister and her husband just bought one each of these bikes. My friend has a Class-2 cruiser. And they love them.
My question for class two bikes is why aren't they considered electric mopeds? Yes you can pedal, same as a moped. It does have shiftable gears as opposed to a cone style shifting u it, but, and I have no problem with these bikes, is if you can just ride throttle alone, why aren't they considered mopeds, Is it just the looks? It looks like a bicycle? Is it people don't want to own mopeds but they want to own an electric bike?

Personally I'm not liking the new format of these videos. The presenter is not a confident as previous ones. Not enough riding footage either. In this case he mentioned turn signal function but never showed how you control it.

I have this bike and it’s cool, but I regret not getting somethng lighter and more nimble. This bike becomes virtually useless without the motor, and it weighs as much as a fridge.

*** WARNING !!! **** Bought this after seeing many good reviews. Be aware that their battery BMS is AWEFUL. In the instructions it says that you must disconnect the charging battery within 2 hours of fully charged and never more than 12 hours. In other words, plug it in and check every hour until done?!?!?! REALLY?!?!? If you ride and want to plug in and forget it until the next day, this is NOT THE BIKE FOR YOU. Everything I own...literally everything with a batter can be plugged in and forget it without a problem....except this very expensive bike.
The bike comes with a 3 amp charger, so it should take about 5 hours to fully charge. Hope that helps!
Frame is dangerous and prone to pedal strikes when turning. It also had a small battery by todays standards. Hard pass.
Why do you say the frame is dangerous? Pedal strikes can be avoided by keeping the inside foot up when turning.
Most of the purchasers of this bike will have no idea of what a pedal strike is until they go down from one. The clearance between the bottom of the pedal and the ground is simply not enough to be safe on this bike, particularly in off road situations which is what the bike is marketed as. A friend of mine just went down from a pedal strike turning on another e-bike and needs hip surgery. I personally think it’s incumbent on the so called leaders in the industry to actually lead the way. Fixing frame defects, adding hydraulic brakes, and obtaining UL certification is kinda of the bare minimum. Regardless, Aventon should tweak the frame to save its customers and prevent future lawsuits, it’s good business.
I can really appreciate a good bike review unfortunately this isn't one of them. This is basically a paid advertisement. Aventon is basically the best of the junk. As long as you realize this and don't plan on using your bike much it could very well meet your needs. Strip away the motor, battery and controller these are just cheap $3-$400 Walmart bicycles.

But here comes the point, with the torque sensor you’re going up in the territory of way more expensive bikes. So I can‘t follow your argumentation.
Aventon is checking many boxes with this bike. The two things that you could change is the derailleur up to Alivio and maybe the suspension fork. But the rest? What do you want to see more on this bike? Thats not a sports bike, it’s a cruiser just for daily usage.

However, if you're looking for a basic model to try out eBiking this is a great choice. The assembly is easy as far as bikes go (took about an hour for me to do, I'm not an expert). All tools needed are included. I added the plastic mud guards you see and a more comfortable seat. The other reviews are correct that you're probably going to want a better seat (Giddy Up! Bike Seat is what I got - super comfortable). The battery easily handles a 2-4 hour ride if you add some of your own pedal power. I haven't even gotten it up to top speed yet - it is very fast. Components are not top of the line, but decent for the price and work just fine. It works great on dirt roads and singletrack and pavement although too heavy to do tricks or any serious technical mountain biking. I'm looking forward to using it a lot over the summer. Tons of fun!
