I love story telling, I’m definitely a people person, I love writing, and I grew up performing on stage, experimenting with photography, etc. I’ve been struggling to figure out what I wanna do :( because I wanna do something where I can be creative, still feel challenged every day and excited when I wake up, and where I can continue to learn new things and be inspired. It’s been tough, I just wanna know what my niche is already 😫

I'm in my third year of my Journalism major here in Australia - very crazy time to be a journo with all these protests, covid and even the Aussie bushfires. We have stories rolling in left right and centre. I never involved myself in a journalism community online and its so weird seeing all these people comment about being in Journalism. I love ya'll.
I'm considering majoring in journalism, but I just started doing my research and know very little about it. How do you personally experience the major? And if I may ask about what made you choose journalism? xx
suvi I knew absolutely NOTHING about journalism when I went into it. It was a spontaneous decision because I was really good at English in school and thought maybe I can find a job with those skills. Basically you will learn how to create news segments and news scripts, radio news and scripts, feature writing, investigative and data journalism, online journalism, print journalism, profile articles, news articles etc. It’s very diverse and packed with information. The first two years for me were kinda slow but I’m in my third year now and have started getting into more interviews, writing more of my own stories for assignments etc. It’s very hands on. Next semester I have my internship. I really enjoy the major, it can be super stressful but always remember this -> Always have a plan A, B, C and D. Because sometimes 3 of your stories will fail and you’ll be stuck. So you gotta have plan after plan after plan. It’s a real big learning curve but if you love writing and media, you’ll enjoy it! I want to own my own publication one day.

I'm a Campus Journalist and currently in high school in a Special Program in Journalism (normal high school but a program where there is an added major subject which is Journalism) it was very fun, i'm a news writer in our school and in our school publication.
Also a reporter in our Radio Broadcasting team, we won two times in a row so we made quite a reputation. Throughout 7th grade up until 10th they were teaching us to write News, Feature, Science Writing, Editorial, Sports, Layout and Broadcasting.
Planning to go in HUMSS strand in Señior and Journalism in college. More interested in writing rather than broadcasting.

I am in a 2-year college. I have been taking journalism and mass media course since this past year in 2022. I have decided to be part of the journalism internship at a 4-year college. I am going to say thank you for giving tips as a journalist. Really appreciate it. Also, I have decided to do training for acting after I have complete with my AA degree in Liberal Arts. I have been studying at a 2-year college for 7 years. I have been studying for my AA degree within 6 years in Liberal Arts. I am going to push myself to do an internship for journalism. I will become successful as a journalist. I know that I will. I am going to do great as a journalist and actor. Television has always been my dream career at a young age. However, I had traveled all over the states for another 2 to 3 years at a young age because my dad’s military. Also, I have been taking my first acting course from last year in fall 2021, then I took introduction to theatre this past year of 2022 as well! It has helped me inspired to become a journalist and actor. I do know that journalism and acting are part of who I am, and I know that I will be successful on those careers. I am going to aim for it. Again, thank you for sharing about journalism major. Really appreciate it. I will be doing my second acting course next in January. Including photography course. As someone else said in the commentes I also want to know how you become and actress o transition from journalism to acting and all about the acting thing. BTW I think you tell really important issues about this major, difficiulty and how ppipl in other careers tend to see journalism; internships and the extremly important is that you don´t get lazy on the matter.
