The way you talk about journalism is so passionate and it's so inspiring!
I was looking for a good video where I can find good advice on journalism. I am willing to study in journalism. The way you describe this is actually helped a lot. Thanks a lot🖤
Thank you so much for making this video, it was so informational and although my experience may be completely different to yours, your video definitely helped me form my own opinions on journalism ♡
Stumbling upon this now. Thank you so much!
hey man this video is so helpful especially since I'm a student in the 12th and still exploring my options, I just had to comment and let you know how helpful this video actually was. Thank you so muchhh
Aaw thank you 🤗
Science in class 12th wasn't academic satisfaction, it was learning the morbid reality of life.
what did u choose for ur undergrad?
@@issashreyaa I decided to be a bit ambitious and chose law. No more science for me 👍. Except for riding the bus and inertia ig.
@@Sleepybear6032 how is it going dude 🙂?
@@issashreyaa the study, subjects and stuff are amazing but the college is a freaking disaster when it comes to administration.
@@issashreyaa But I would still say it is going good. I mean I have an exam tomorrow and look what I am doing replying to a comment section.

Satshya Chechy! Satshya Chechy! I Love You! Thank you so much for this video! *virtual hugs*
Hey , it would be massively helpful if you could provide information about enterances and interviews for journalism schools like what to study , probable questions etc. I am aspiring for masters.
I remember doing an interview with you while you were interning at the Hindu!
Haha yes! You had topped 10th boards ☺️☺️
loved the video! learnt alot and look forward to more videos in the future!!
Thank you ☺️☺️
I have nothing to do with journalism nor am I unhappy with my job. It's just that I have gotten comfortable with it and I don't know what next. I can relate with why you quit and hopefully I can find my calling soon
Thankyou so much I just wish I had watched this a few months ago before choosing my undergrad because the info about journalism is so lesss
how is college going now? what are the job prospects?

Very Informative!
As you mentioned, there are very few organisations in the industry that care about their employees' overall health. The Hindu is a rare example. Toxic culture, yes, you are bang on. Digital journalism is the place to be in this post truth world now. I absolutely loved your post here. All the best.
Loved the video!
Thank you 😊
Still I'm in 8th standard i am watching this vedio bcoz that was dream to become a journalism one thing that was bad on this jod is maths is not on subject so so so sorry i have lots of time to think about this btw i want to say that l got lots of information about this so thank u so much di and plz share this types of vedios
After 12th science passed. i couldn't study well ,. After that, it seemed that I made a mistake by taking science.. .I was cross cut in some subjects, now I'm 25, what I do ?
Because some times i feel was ,I need to study
Great video! Love the way you explained. I always wanted to be a journalist but wasn’t allowed to by my parents. Now I work as a software engineer. Any suggestions for ways I can try my hand at journalism?
You are in the best line. Don't switch. There's no money in journalism.
@@chandrakantmahapatra1317 yeah money wise it’s really good. But money isn’t everything right…?
@@asciascatix2989 sadly I second that persons comment. I suggest in this day and age if u want to pursue media set up something of your own on social media and build It or network without the sacrifice.
It’s a lot of work for not a lot of pay or stability, I’m considering leaving to go into tech atm. But I’d u really want to explore it freelancing is a good place to start
I opened this video to clear up my confusion but i am still confused 😢... I know the theory and i am starting up my masters but i feel like lacking in practical ...
i noticed your kenya bracelet i have the exact same one
hey i know its been 3 months but could you please let me know where you did your UG course at?
Hi! I loved this video! Can you name the news organizations where you had good experiences please? That would be nice! Thanks!
Exactly same thing happened to me. After working one year in the industry recently i quit my job. Give me some suggestion.. The other career options in media.
Kya difficult tha I got admitted this year wasn't even that diligent and got in
Beautiful smile … I’m sold 🤓
Hey! Can you please tell me at which media house you worked with where you gained this experience?
Done with 12th boards..! And now confused with UG courses i have some sort of thing for BJMC but still confused what and how the subjects will be..! What if I don't get it.. there'll be no backoff..as in living in Lucknow i don't know about colleges offering this course on good level! If you could tell me a li'll bit..
I am really inspired by you your my role model ..I am UG journalism student let me know how did you got the internship ..And Lots of Love for you .❤️✨
How much you earn in internship?!!!
Hi, I sent an email to the company with my internship application and then followed up after a month if I didn't get a reply. With the company that was in the same city I lived it, I just visited the office and submitted the application personally. And I didn't get paid for any internship
i've never in my whole life related to someone one on this kinda level
Hey, loved your story. I am engineering graduate, just finished college. I've sort of always known that I had a calling for communication and journalism specifically but you know how I somehow ended up doing engineering. I've figured out that it doesn't really interest me so much anymore and I'm considering a career shift. It's probably hightime for me to make a bold choice for myself. Even though I considered management studies by default that it won't be too much of a redirection and I do see myself exploring the same later on, my heart isn't in it as much as it is into Journalism. Speaking of which, I just found out about the tripple major idea and even though the most practical option seems to be doing a PGD in Jorunalism, is it viable to consider doing an MA followed by PGD? Can you share your take on this?
i am an engineering grad as well (3rd year rn) and i can totally relate to you :) I am considering a career shift as well.
@@pranavdhawan4471 which field are you considering switching to? Just curious.
Hi! A lot of my classmates in journalism college were those who just graduated from engineering college. Most post-grad journalism colleges just require an undergrad degree (doesn't matter which field) - so you don't need to do an MA and then do PGD - can directly do a PGD. Sorry if this answer is coming too late, I just saw this!
😢 so is journalism dead ? Everyone is saying it's dead, is there a hope in India?
Hi, I'm a btech graduate, but I wish to shift my career towards journalism, can this pg helps me
i can relate so much with you when I was preparing for AJK jamia and I also said some stupid things in interview...ended up being waitlisted
hehe :) hope it worked out!
What is the scope for journalism abroad for an Indian?
[URGENT] Please share thoughts on how masters at ACJ can help a LSR journalism student become a documentary filmmaker.
It wouldn’t, i went for the same reason in 2013 and I can tell you for a reason that ACJ doesn’t cut it
it wouldn't, I am currently at ACJ, they will only teach you the basics.
can we do undergrad in sumn else and then pursue journalism for post grad in foreign but also get a scholarship in it?
ma'm i will complete my graduation next year,& I am looking to a Pg degree in ACJ,which pg course should i apply for?

Hope you are doing good now.
In my opinion, you shouldn't discontinue your engineering course.
Its very bold step to take and you must be sure what you want to do next before quitting it.
I am also exploring my options but haven't quit what I am doing.
Don't be stressed about it and take one thing and stick to it.
Finding your passion and all are fine only to some extent.
Hope you get it and do well in your life.
Best of luck👍👍

Okay so i am graduating with a BA.LLB degree in 6 months and am planning a shift to journalism. I aim to make a living by freelancing with studios and brands as a copywriter and creative content producer working primarily in social media but the long term goal is to publish articles, writeups and eventually books.
I am confused about which field of mass comm to pursue. Whether to take up new media or screenwriting or advertising and pr? Also does this sound like something that might be possible? I dont wanna be impractical with this approach. Any inputs or advice is welcome!
Also thank you sm for this video!
Hi! Then I think a place like MICA sound s ideal (they are excellent and also have very good placements)
Is ballb degree worth it ? Do you think you've wasted your 5 years

I just quit my job as a journalist too

Oh the scoops , it never stops. The mind of a journalist , is the mind of a mad man, the narrator never shuts up. That and all those darn sheep. Before you know it , its Scoops everywhere and you feel ethically entitled to snoop. Dishing out bland PC word cloud to the great unwashed , gets old soon, it takes no time to loose ones creativity. Also the lies you are allowed to tell and the things you can't. It's a doodoo of a job. May I recommend Fly fishing .
There is no job without any hardwork 🙂every job is hard in its own way
I'm sorry but sounds amazing to me
I love to snoop
Which year did you study at ACJ ? I was in the 2022 batch and there wasn't any stream for radio. Infact many teachers are leaving that institution. My experience was mixed to say the least.
Ohh I was in the 2016 batch :) didn’t know radio is over!
Very Informative video. I can relate with you being a young journalist how tough it is to maintain your own life. Btw mam I have a question, I have recently done my graduation in BJMC so now should I go for jobs or internship or masters?
Thank you - and that’s based on what your goals are. I personally prefer work experience before going for higher studies, but chances of getting a job are higher if you have a masters degree
Thank you so much. I want to do my masters next year but I want to have some good work experience from reputed media organisations but can we get job surety there as they offer unpaid internships nd low stipend than what we expect. I really wanted to ask that if we work in news startup then should we need to start with unpaid internship or they acknowledge the work of small startups too? I need a little bit of guidance as I’m quite confused mam :)
I am a journalist in Nigeria this is great talk. i like your voice can we connect
I am class 10th and watching this video bcz of my love regarding journalism it meant me a lot ❤
Tq so much sis 😊
I'm glad to be of help :)
Do they teach in English (not in Tamil right?) ACJ college ?
Is there any journalism courses within 6months or 1 year
Apply at ACJ. They provide pgdm both in multimedia journalism and financial journalism. It's a 10 months course and the college is sooo good.
Hi i am scared about about placement after bjmc
hey, don't worry :) there are a lottttt of roles in the media world
How did you studied for entrance? Which book u read ? Can u suggest me some materials?
Malayalam Manorama was the best! very comprehensive
Man wht about taking a course in IIMC
I have a doubt, will questions come from newspapers in ACJ or I have to buy that manorama book for 2023 as it will release at 2024 only 😢 I don’t know what to study.
Personally i felt a lot of what was covered in Malayalam Manorama came in the exam. But I would also regularly read the newspaper so that helped.
@@SatshyaTharien thank you so much chechi you have no idea what this means to me.
You are from which state
Same as me 🙁
Ur video was so good nd Can u explain
1. The entrance exam pattern of ACJ ?
2. The average pay in Journalism?
hey just wanted to ask ... i have heard horror stories about freshers getting paid 15k per month or so... To what degree is it true and whether i would have pay issues in this field if i opt for it.
yes, some media companies pay really low, especially if you don't have a post-grad degree. It all depends on the company you get into
The panel's reaction to your favourite show is veryyy typical of their attitude to what "journalism" is. They're hella classist and look down on "loftier" interests. Smh
That said, the broadcast professors are the best in the country. Vvv lucky to have studied with them.
Here i thought journalism is dead in India
Hlo bhavana here i just wanted to know that best books to refer for beginners and let me know how was your preparation
Malayalam Manorama! :)
I am not interested in mass communication but then too I am graduating from this field (although it's my first year in college) what should I do I m so confused
If u don't like stop doing it i am also first year btech student n i quit one week ago n believe me iam much happier now
What is basic salary in journalism
when I started (about 7 years ago) starting salary in-hand per month ranged from 19k to 32k depending on whether you worked at a newspaper (lower salary) to TV & digital (higher salary)
Won’t the salary get good in the journalism field with the time?
It will if you switch companies every 2-3 years
Hi I have small doubt. What should we study to pass the ACJ entrance exam pls help me i can't believe you were from ACJ Satshya
I studied from the Malayalam Manorama handbook 😊 but it does help to read the newspaper everyday

hi - it depends where you're working. if you're based out of north India then yes, it is definitely important since you'll be interacting with the locals. The same with learning Tamil if you're based in Tamil Nadu. Don't worry about your hindi being weak, it is always possible to learn :)
