Brian May wrote this beautiful song. He writes all the deep songs in my opinion. Queen wrote the soundtrack for the film Highlander which was about an imortal man. Queen are the greatest live rock band in history. Just relax and enjoy.
Brian wrote this song for the movie “ Highlander” Impossible to top Freddie … He is the GOAT 💛 As far as bands are concerned Queen is the GOAT 💫✨👑 Best musicians ever in one Band! And Freddie Mercury the cherry on top 🥰
The song is about an immortal worrior who outlives everyone he cares for. Watching them grow old and pass, while he lives on. Highlander is a cult classic. Watch it... you'll get it.
There were 2 excellent and 1 outstanding singers in the band, both Brian and Roger the drummer have great vocals, and Freddie was the cherry on the cake. John Deacon the bass player was the exception. Please, check out the Dragon Attack live at Montreal 81.
Brain May who open up here on "Who Wants To Live Forever (1986)." Is actually a Rocket Scientist and was a Dean of a College in England. He also became a college president. The man is an intellect and a modern-day renaissance man. He and Freddy Mercury wrote most of the songs for the group. They were awesome. Great take and response. They did the soundtrack for the movie "Highlander."
Astrophysicist. His work doesn’t involve the *science of rockets* , but rather the study of the data captured by NASA and other space agencies *from* the various ways of obtaining it (telescopes, satellites, space probe based photography and imaging, surface probe missions to Solar System targets like Mars or asteroids like Bennu, etc.) Most of Brian’s current scientific work consists of compiling stereoscopic-3D image pairs out of raw 2-D images captured by these missions - this particular niche work of his (melding his interests in Astrophysics and in Stereoscopic Photography) has actually contributed to choosing landing sites (Mars, Bennu) and for determining more-accurate representations of space, star/planetary systems, etc. After obtaining his PhD in 2007, he was Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University, 2008-2013 - which is largely an honorary, ceremonial and ambassadorial title. He had used their telescope as one of his observation sites during his Imperial College PhD research. The duties of the chancellor include the conferring of degrees at graduation ceremonies and being an ambassador for the university both nationally and internationally. As chancellor they may also attend engagements at the university and outside promoting its work and research. Brian was the 4th Chancellor, with that chancellorship having been originally founded as an office in 1992.
Hi ! a woman of a certain age here ... I saw Queen when I was in my early teens .... just amazing ! There's no one to replace Freddie imo 😊 thanks for your intelligent reactions....you are an 'old soul' ... that's a compliment btw subscribed to your Channel ! x
I can't tell you how thrilled I am to see a new generation of music lovers get into the music that was the background to teens and young adult years. This stuff blew us away back in the day, and it's still doing it. Every member of Queen was brilliant on their own -- together they couldn't be beat. And Freddie, well, he was touched by the gods. I'm looking forward to more reactions to Queen.
As mentioned the song along with other queen songs was either used or wrote for the film Highlander. Queens songs have been used or wrote for other films including Flash Gordon but perhaps that film is best left buried deep in the archives
This song was from a movie soundtrack form the movie "Highlander". A very good movie about a guy that is immortal and falls for a girl that is mortal and dies. Hence the name of the song. Awesome song that is stellar done live also.
This song was originally made for the soundtrack of "Highlander", a movie about an immortal character grappling (sometimes literally) with how long he has lived. Queen actually did several incredible songs for the soundtrack. I highly recommend it!
No better frontman than Freddie. They are all superb. i saw them do their very last UK gig in August 86. Freddie was already sick and not even they knew it would be their last home gig. Were they amazing wondrous and magical? What do YOU think?
Brian May wrote this song for the movie Highlander ( an immortal facing the death of his mortal wife and friends). This official video features the UK’s National Philharmonic Orchestra and 40 members of the National Boys Chorus. Brian May begins playing keyboards and switches to his usual guitar, Red Special. John Deacon plays an upright double bass(although he wasn’t in the original recording), Roger Taylor plays the tympani and other percussion. In concert, they switched it around a bit. A little drama and lighting always makes the symphony more interesting, doesn’t it?
Isn't this a wonderful song? I saw Queen in Montreal in Nov 1981, my 24th birthday. Freddie passed 10 years later, on my birthday. I've played this song and lit a candle in his memory every year since then. It was 32 years ago, last November. They are all amazing artists but Freddie Mercury stands out among performers no matter what genre he was singing.
This is another great song from the Queen soundtrack for the movie Highlander, this one written by Brian. All the Queen music from this soundtrack is excellent. Thank you for your reaction.
Thanks, Dreezy.. this was written by Brian May (who starts on vocals, and was, in fact, the love of my life when I was 15-16.. I still love geriatric Brian lol).. for the movie "Highlander".. but when Freddie takes over vocals, it's pretty astonishing.. a very dramatic and beautiful song... appreciate your listen... (p.s. either Brian or Roger Taylor... drummer.. could have fronted their own successful band... but everyone came together in "Queen".. and there was no point... lol)
Watching a reaction from you to Dire Straits Sultans of Swing Alchemy Live Tour would be a brilliant experience for you too. You feel as if you're actually at the concert. Mark Knopfler is a top lead guitarist, but you will undoubtedly be blown away by Terry Williams' drumming - it's insane! Every band member is on the top of their game
Yes, Brian May opening. He plays guitar and organ. Roger Taylor on drums. John Deacon playing the Double Bass in this video. All four members of Queen could play multiple instruments, and all four were gifted writers.
“Who Wants to Live Forever” was composed by Brian May and sung on the album version as a duet between himself and Freddie Mercury but in the live concerts, Freddie sang the entire song. The song was part of a group of sounds the Queen composed for and performed in the movie, "Highlander" which was the story that chronicles the age-old war between immortal warriors. "Who Wants to Live Forever" serves as somewhat of a “love theme” of Highlander, as it adds to the sub-plot of the movie .
this was written for a movie to go with it's storyline of an IMMORTAL in love with a regular human who grows old and dies of old age... for the immortal its depressing and the feeling is who wants to live forever if all you do is watch your loved ones dye and you're stuck aline again and again. heartbreaking
"Stone Cold Crazy, 1974 Rainbow; "Killer Queen" 1974 Top of the Pops, "Somebody to Love" 1981 Montreal. The other songs from the Highlander soundtrack are great, too!
Their earlier stuff is brilliant & more rock based, liar, seven seas of rye, death on 2 legs but then Freddie singing you take my breath away is absolutely gorgeous.
Brian (as i call him the "brain") May is a genius writer. Mostly comes up to him in 15 minutes or something like that. I dunno if the music is already in his head or the words came before. And Freddy was singer who can never ever be replaced. Anyway: Queen as a group/band made a milestone in music history to me. I mean: Writing a song like "Too much love will kill u" (by Brian the "brain" May) in the backseat of a taxi in 15 minutes? (If that's truly true, i dunno), Infact of all these songs, it's hard for me to hear my other songs then things on or ELO etc. pp. There a kinda songs i like from this time - but liking is not loving. Thanks for reacting to this!
Also from the Highlander soundtrack is Princes of the Universe. Can’t get enough of It. The official video intercuts scenes from the movie. You’ll love it.

I prefer their 70’s vibe. Their most popular songs that you haven’t done: ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST, WE WILL ROCK YOU (on the radio they always follow with “we are the champions”) My Favorites: Somebody to love, tie your mother down, killer queen, you’re my best friend, fat bottom girls, save me.
if youre interested in listening more songs that Brian May is singing i highly recommend Too Much Love Will Kill You from his solo album, also '39 from Queen's album A Night At The Opera! :)
Please react to "In The Lap Of The Gods" Hammersmith Odeon 75, "Save Me" Montreal 81, "Who wants to live forever" Live at Budapest 86 which is the best version of this song IMHO it's really mindblowing ! Greetings from France !
Both Brian May and Freddie Mercury composed about the same Number of Songs for Queen. This is one of Brians Songs. The two other top tier Songs from Brian in my opinion were The Prophets Song (overall their best Song I think) and a 3 folded Song or 3 Songs if you want : Procession-Father to Son-White Queen. White Queen live was maybe their best live Song. Freddie did Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody to Love and We are the Champions. But their Catalogue is big and extremely divers.
great reaction checkout God Smack unforgettable awesome what the band did with these kids....also under your scars is a great song or even the song called until then...
Der letzte Song von Freddy war Mother Love. Er hat es nicht mehr geschafft, dieses Lied bis zum Ende aufzunehmen. Die letzte Strophe wurde nach Freddys Tod von Brian May gesungen. Grüße aus Germany

Freddie is a phenomenon from another universe. He can never be replaced. And the most beautiful soul ever created
Queen is phenomenal!!!!
Freddie Mercury is the best frontman/singer ever!!!
The one that is about Freddie dying is called ‘The show must go on'
Most of Made in Heaven is about that some of the songs on that album are quite heart breaking.
Or only the good die young

"Love of my life ", live at wembley1986,, "Somebody to love ", and "Save me" live ay Montreal 1981.
Highlander... "There can be only one!" :-) They made all the music for the movie.
Really fun mix of a film score with a movie that spans centuries.
The song is about an immortal worrior who outlives everyone he cares for. Watching them grow old and pass, while he lives on. Highlander is a cult classic. Watch it... you'll get it.

Brian wrote this for the movie The Highlander and begins it and Freddie continues it. They all contributed to the score of the movie.
The next logical step is ”Barcelona”. Freddie has the voice of an opera singer, and in that song he does a duet with his favorite opera soprano…
This was done for the movie Highlander soundtrack I think
Innuendo, Radio Ga-ga, Princes of the Universe, The Show Must Go On... so many great songs.

Hello from Croatia ❤️
Yes, Brian at the beginning. John Deacon on bass and Roger Taylor on drums.
I only want to live forever if we all do. It's too unbearable to lose people who we love. 😆 I'm super emotional today. ❤️❤️❤️❤️✌️

I almost fell out of my chair at your pronunciation of Bowie... Bow is pronounced like in Bowtie. Not take a bow.
You didn't say "David Bowey" did you?
