The house had been moved there from another location down the road. The owner said they rolled the house on logs to get it to the new spot. They pulled it by horses.
I have an axe very similar to that but the blade of it is a bit smaller and has a notch in it for nails mine was a roofing axe so I've been told I believe it was made from a company called Grove tool works New York late 19th and early 20th century. I believe not much info on the company that's if mine is made by that company mine looks the same as the pictures I've found I restored mine made a handle out of walnut engraved it and inlayed it with ebony sawdust even still have the iron wedge with it ever interested in a picture of it I'll send a pic of it
