Metal Detecting: Testing A Garrett Axiom Pulse Induction Detector In A Civil War Camp

- Mike and I returned to the Civil War camp where we have been metal detecting on and off this spring for one last detection. The signals were getting far and wide, so I decided to try the Garrett Axiom pulse induction metal detector to see if it could find things Mike and I could not hear with our VLF metal detectors. I was not disappointed.
As always, this is a how-to metal-detecting outdoor adventure vlog that is family-friendly and hopefully a fun video.
About Aquachigger:
I like to make videos that promote my lifestyle of outdoor adventure, metal detecting, yapping, searching for river treasure, SCUBA diving, exploring abandoned places, hiking, caving, caring for animals and pets, and observing the things outdoors that often go unnoticed. I keep my UA-cam "Aquachigger" channel family-friendly and hope you subscribe if you like my style.
I hope to see you guys out there!

I wasn't sure if I'd find much since we had detected the camp so much this spring, but I was pleasantly surprised that I did pretty well. I hope you enjoy the video!

I want my daughter to get married to the Aquachigger song. Thanks for the adventure Chigg!
In my younger days I would’ve started a drinking game with these videos. Every time the Chigg says “100%” you take a shot. We would all be bombed by the end of any video of his 😅.
My new favorite line: This is what we call a triangle. Damn, Chigg. We call them that too! 🤣
I love Chigg’s sense of humor 😂
When the plane came over you should have said "troll plane"!🤣
I like when Mike gets excited over a find, then Chigg messes with him lol. Looks like you guys did pretty good here. That detector seems to work pretty well.
Looks like the machine did good, thanks for sharing the test with us Chigg.
It's so interesting to hear about what the different machines are good for. Looked like a good day.
Mike is a jewel!
Definitely needed to check Chigg's "pulse"!
Awesome. Thanks.
Nice finds!
Nice to see a few more relics come out of that site. I guess the PI helped.
Happy hunting to you too Mike!
Happy day to you Chigg! That axiom is a sensitive one. ! If you were out hunting gold and those targets were nuggets you would be doing just dandy!
Nice to see you trying different equipment as I've heard you say it pays to go over old permissions with the newer technology. Nice buckle for Mike! Thanks as always for sharing, Beau.
I think I recognize that field. I think I’ve been there with you all before!
Pickins were slim, but you got on the board - They were THERE!
Great edited video!!
I use my PI everywhere regardless of the soil conditions. It works really well in the red dirt of Orange and Culpeper Co. Va, but I find that it works even better in non-minerlized soils. Like the sandy stuff down around Richmond Va. Yeah, there's hardly no discrimination but I suppose I cherry pick the good signals anyway. Unless it's a giant iron tone that blows my ears off like a shell.
Thanks again for my Chiggs Army hat that Mike gave me from you and my “hold your breath”, snorkel shirt! It’s too bad you guys could never find the other piece to the officer sword, buckle the wreath part.!
TRRROOOlllll Plane !!!!!!!!!!!!!😁
Almost positive you guys are detecting near my house. I live directly across from the airport and those C17's take off in groups a few minutes apart
2:35 its a civil war heavy metal “horns up” pin 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing!
At 1:46 freedom flying. C-17.
Axiom will find tiny flakes of gold, it is a gold machine, Warren uses one in Australia and was a tester.
You know what Chigg. If you are ever going to find a gold coin it will be with that Axiom . I just got that idea pop into my head like intuition. I pay attention to those (intuition) thoughts. Im not right all the time but something like that i pay attention too.
Great hunt brother! Really enjoy watching. Fellow Army vet
Pulse Induction works best in really bad ground. I used PI at Brandy Station back in the early 2000’s and did very well in some of the hottest soil in the region. However as you mentioned there is very little discrimination so using one in a trashy camp area can be frustrating and exhausting.
Trollllll plane 🛩
The Axiom would work very well down here in Louisa and Orange Va right down the road from a famous calvary battle. Custer fought there
👊🤩👍
Hello, Aquachigger! will you do magnet fishing sometime again? And arrowheads?
Maybe both soon.
Should have call this video chigg playing with the triangle.
Hey y’all
I'm still waiting for you to dig Virginia cannon ball
Judy a liittle help with expenses and for all you share..
Wow! Thanks again Tom!
@@aquachigger Trying to show a little appreciation for taking me along on your adventures. My day gets a lot brighter when I see another Aquachigger Adventure has been posted. Thanks for all your hard work.
Happy to oblige!
Is the axiom water proof? I could look it up online I guess.
What type of buckle did Mike find?
"Rifleman" buckle.
1:38 C-5 or C-17?
Hey Chigg I’m looking into getting into metal detecting. I’m looking between the Garrett Ace 300 and Minelab vanquish 440. Would you have any advice on which I should go with for a beginner? Thanks
At pro garrett . Water proof as well
Thank you
Nokta Makro has really good beginner (water proof) machines. The Simplex series is great. I hear the same with minelab s well I just don’t have any experience with them. Good luck and happy hunting!
thanks. I’ll look into the simplex
I made the mistake of buying a lower line model when I first started and now wished I’d have saved up for the better one ya they aren’t cheap but it’s better to save and get what you need instead of regretting what you have.

Troll plane…
Axiom is a deal at only $4,000.oo each.
No one is forcing you to buy one so why complain? Though I thank you for informing me of the price! Appreciate that!
@@williambrandondavis6897 I'm sorry, I thought it was a good price.
@@williambrandondavis6897 You have a very well developed and fine tuned complaint detector.

It's weird; your comment didn't show up as first up in my global comments section.
@aquachigger it's showing as newest on mine
I have UA-cam premium, do you still get paid when I watch your videos? I wanted to be sure that you still do even though I have UA-cam premium which is, you know commercial free.
Great question…. Hopefully someone knows the answer
@godisgoodatht Not really. All the subscription money goes in a pot and is distributed to all youtubers, so I usually end up with pennies per month from that pot.
@@aquachigger Wow. Didn't know. Hope that doesn't affect contributions as I'm also using Premium.
I’ll have to buy some more T-shirts and merch!
C-17, cool I guess. I was jet propulsion and crew chief on that massive pile of plastic junk. Worst ACFT I ever worked in my twenty-five years of service, and that is saying a lot because I also was a crew chief on C-5 FRED, the king of broken shi*. Worked SR-71, F-16, F-117, C-5, C-17 and KC-10 +1 🦨. Happily retired and living life metal detecting.
When the plane went by i was for sure chig was gonna say troll plane 😂
Chig, with the axiom we don't get to hear you say" I got a little squeaker here."
