Good news, the amazing team behind the Medarot (1) English translation is working on an English translation for Medarot 3! It's still very early in the works but hopefully they see it through :)
i love the medarot/bots series, I just never liked the battle system cooldown. I kinda wish it had just the plan old turnbased style but it is unique I'll say.
How I wish this game gets translated, one day. I know nothing of japanese outside of some very specific words. Friends of mine have understood some dialogues I've shown them, particularly some from Rokusho, and it's funny how notoriously callous he is, along with the cynical and standoffish nature you pointed out.
How would you rate Medarot 1,2,3,4,5 games which is best ? Is any one of them a must have for gameboy ? Could you make "A Look at Pocket Family GB 1 or 2" I don't understand this ポケットファミリーGB: 1998 Japan game it is somekind of SIMS human simulation game to gameboy. :-)
Medarot 1 is... not very good. It's unbalanced, it's slow and it's not particularly good in general aside from the music. I'd recommend the Wonderswan version (Medarot Perfect Edition) instead, although even that still suffers from some of the original game's problems. It got a weird remake for the GBA called Shingata Medarot. Medarot 2 is a big improvement in general and definitely worth trying at least. It got remade for the GBA (Medarot 2 Core), which actually got released in English as Medabots Rokusho and Metabee Versions. The remake is a lot harder and I personally prefer the original game's soundtrack, but it a pretty solid game in its own right. Medarot 3, 4 and 5 are some of the best RPGs on the Gameboy, period. 3 got heavily reworked from the previous two games and improves on pretty much everything about them. 4 doesn't have any drastic changes but is even better than 3. Medarot 5 stars a new character and brings about a number of changes, although nothing extreme. However, it does have a lot of new content which gives it a feeling of freshness.
Thanks. Do you know about Japanese "Detective Conan 1,2,3,4,5" gameboy series. It also bothers me a lot multiple were made like Medarot 1,2,3,4,5... Are any of those Conan games good to keep or is it something to trash and forget ?
Robopon is much closer to games like Pokemon, although it does have equippable parts. Medarot has 3 vs 3 battles instead and a focus on swapping equipment rather than levelling up. I'd put the Gameboy Medarot games at about the same level of difficulty in general. Regular battles generally aren't too hard but certain event battles can pose some trouble, especially with Medarot 3 and later since they have a lot more variety in terms of attacks and effects.
To play Japan games I believe you must also buy the official guide books 300-500pages or so. They are really hard to understand otherwise. You'll have to buy both the game and the guide in the end :-) Games might cost like 2-5usd but guide books costs 10-20usd and it gets expensive fast. Many Gameboy games are kind of designed to buy the guide books.
To complete absolutely everything, yeah, a guide would help, but the storyline isn't really complicated if you're just playing normally. Well, except for Medarot 1. That game is just totally obtuse sometimes.

Remake? Damn, hope can release in this year. Seems I just play the medarot 2 remake gba series.
And it's finally complete!
If only there was a translation of this one. Kikuhime is so cute...
I wish the third and fourth games would have been remade like Medabots 2 CORE.
Thanks for the video! I'm shocked at how good that voiced dialogue sounds considering it's the GBC (they're pretty lengthy too!)
Yeah, they did an excellent job with it.
Just bought this game after your video, thanks!
Thanks for these Medabots videos!
Game just got a eng patch

I'm not familiar with those, sorry.
Is this similar as Robopon Sun/Star/Moon ? Some say Robopon is very hard is this easier ?
