This was the most concise instructional video on this topic. I’ve searched/listened to many video and spent a lot of hours with no answers, but you have given me everything I was looking for. Thank you. You are great.
I really apprecciate it 💞
Thank you so much! You have almost the identical piano, soundcard, and laptop model as me, and I had all the cords and apps so this was absolutely perfect! Thank you.
thank you this is exactly what I was looking for
Francesca , thank you for this video it all became very clear to me I am 70 so very pleased with this video I subscribed and hope many video's will follow all the best to you
Grazie Francesca per questo ottimo tutorial
😊😊
Grazia!! Wonderful video. Very clear and helpful.
Thank you so much! 😀
Thank you so much for this ^_^ You saved me so much time
Happy to hear that 😍

Thank you! Turns out it's quite simple - you just plug in the piano and play it through a MIDI piano plugin, great video!
Hi ! Hourra ! You are the first one that explains in depth how to get started with connecting my digital piano Roland Fp30 to addictive keys and Pc and have it working ! Thank you so much Francesca !
nice !
thank you!
😊😊
Thank you.
Fantastic video and really helpful! I'd be really interested to see a video about how to record the sound of the keyboard, rather than the midi signal. Do you have a video for that? Keep up the great work!
Best video
thanks
Hey man, great video, thank you! I wanted to ask you if it’s possible to play REAL-TIME different sounds than what FP-30X provides via VST into a DAW for example. I am sure there are better sounds out there than what FP-30X has available, that’s why I am looking into this. Lastly, will the audio be output from the monitors connected to the computer or do the monitors have to be connected to the FP-30X directly?
Hi Francesca - thank you SO much for this video!!! It's exactly what I needed to set up my space in order to record my piano with midi on ableton.
I used the plugin "The Gentleman" from Native Instruments to use as my sound. The goal is to release a solo piano album on spotify. My question is - do you know if it's worth me sending my songs to a mastering engineer? Since there's only 1 sound (piano) I don't think a significant mixing process is needed. There's a lot of processing already probably on the piano pluggin. What's your advice on steps necessary to make it sound as professional as possible, after recording, so that I can release? thanks!!
Ciao Francesca
Bel video
I'm very Surprised you didn't make more videos on this subject, it must be your most viewed video
Hi Francesca, i owned same pxs1000 and audio interface. For daw I'm using reaper. May i know how to capture sound from the piano itself? Thank you in advance
I have the same keyboard 👍🏿
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I HAVE ONE QUESTION - So even though the midi USB is connected to the laptop and not the audio interface, it still stops the delay?
I was worried because the midi USB wont connect to the audio interface, only the laptop, so I assumed it would automatically use the laptops audio driver instead, and still cause a delay
I TOO HAVE PXS1000!!
so there are two cables plugged at a time into the laptop right? the cable from keyboard to pc and the cable from interface into pc?
Hello! I am using Focusrite and Ableton and want the audio (after being altered by a plugin) to come.out of my puano. Hiw would I make this happen exactly?
so do you need a sound card to hear the input of keys on the daw?
Thank you very much for the video, Francesca! Is it possible to change the tuning of the piano?
Yeah I think that there is a way, but I've never done it ☹
Hey .i have a problem.. when I connect midi cable to laptop.. it's not responding... my piano is Yamaha moxf8 and daw is Ableton live11 lite
Hi Francesca, how do I record the sound on my keyboard into Ableton without using Ableton digital instruments? Thanks kindly for info on this
Thanks! Is it possible to use the keyboard as midi controler without an audio interface like Focusrite, connecting the keboard directly to the computer?
It's possibile but I suppose you will have many problems with sound delay!
Thank you so much for your video! could you please explain how to record the sound of the keyboard?
Yeah I'll try to make a video about it as soon as I can!

This is very helpful thank you. few weeks back i was recording my piano cover but i got a bunch of background noises so i watched this so i can record directly to my pc thanks again🫶🏻
what is the use of the audio card?
Hi! The Plugin tab on the left is just showing empty (5:29), I'm unable to add the addictive keys software as mentioned, what should I do please?
Mhhh that's strange! Are you sure you uploaded the VST in the right folder?
Hey Francesca, a little off topic but can you turn off the internal sound of the Piano in order to get VST sounds thru the Casio speakers via midi and aux in?
Hi! I never tried to do it sorry 😣
Is it possible to use external studio monitors instead of headphones as sound output?
If they are compatibile with the audio interface , yes!
Great video!
I want to record MIDI and render to WAV using sound samples from my physical piano.
Can it be done without using a virtual instrument?
Hi! I think you can record simultaneously the audio and the MIDI, and obtain what you want, but I've never tried to do it!
@@francescapittoni6482 computer should send recorded Midi to piano and ask it to play it back. Then we could record it as audio.
This way we would have both Midi for adding effects and other instruments AND the actual physical piano as it sounds
I actually want to record a specific sound from my keyboard no from my daw library. Can you show us how please?
Hello,
I need help, I can't find information anywhere:
So, I have a Digital Piano which has a USB MIDI output and IN-OUT slots.
I also have a M-Audio track duo and monitor headphones
Now, I connect my piano to my PC via USB midi; then I connect the audio interface to my PC via USB midi.
1. if I want to use VST sounds, I just connect the headphones to my audio interface
2. if I want to use my digital piano built-in sounds, I connect ONLY the Out from my keyboard to line 1 of my audio interface
3. if I want to use my digital piano speakers instead of my direct headphones, I need to connect ONLY the IN from the digital piano to the R-L slots on the back of my audio interface (using a jack splitter)
4. what if the piano doesn't have IN-OUT but only headphone jack output? Can I still use it as an OUT slot?
Is everything correct??
Pls I need help xD
Grazie
Grazie a te! 😊
GRAZIE MILLE FRANCESCA UN CALOROSO ABBRACCIO 😘😍😍😍
@@federicoandriotto2576 😊😊💕
hey, thanks for this tutorial !
have you ever tried playing on digital piano without any sound card ? does it really have delay ?!
I just wanna buy a digital piano for playing with a song in a DAW (something like accompaniment) just for fun, is it possible without soundcard ?
Yeah I tried and in my case it was impossible, but maybe it depends on which internal sound card your computer has!
@BOLLiXER try Freepiano2 software, and choose WASAPI, no audio interface required 👍
Hello Francesca, I also have a PX S-1000 and I was wondering, how can I record the sound of the keyboard using the audio interface? Thanks :)
I'll record a video about it, very soon 😊

@@francescapittoni6482 Great video btw ;) Ty
Well I'm confused. Firstly you connected your keyboard directly to your laptop. When you connected your focusrite, the keyboard was not connected. How and where is your keyboard connected? Thanks.
Hi. May I know what configuration/fx you use in the addictive keys??
I'll record a video about it very soon😊

If you dont have soandcard what will u do
Ciao Francesca,
What happened? At first your keyboard was plugged into your laptop - then it wasn't. the sound card was instead. Could you explain what plugs into where?
Hi. I followed your instruction and can record MIDI with my electric piano. But i had a problem that there is some missing note cannot be recorded as MIDI. It is totally normal when i record as Audio though. Do you know why there is such problem ? Thanks in advance
Mhhh I've never had a similar problem! Is your electric piano old?
@@francescapittoni6482 yes it is an old one :(
@@dolasipiano4464 Maybe, it could be the cause!
Have you a video for recording the keyboard sound, I.e. not midi but audio. Thank you
I will record it as soon as I come back from my vacation, so in 15 days!
Francesca Pittoni Thank you. Enjoy your holiday.

Ciao.
Does it take sustain pedal input via midi?
Yes!!
Can you also edit or change the sustain recordings? How do you it in Ableton? I can't find a way...
@@eran9314 I'll try to explain! With the piano roll opened, at the bottom left you will see a symbol with a double arrow next to the musical note symbol. Click there, then in Envelopes, in the second box select "Hold pedal" (to me it is marked with the number 64).
I thought what is wrong with my MIDI controller because it wasn't recording anything. I didn't press the arm recording OMG... Thanks ahah

So you can create MIDI in the DAW with a digital piano through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen even though that audio interface doesn't have MIDI compatibility?
Yeah, cause I use Focusrite just to avoid delays in audio listening, not for the midi part! 😊
@@francescapittoni6482 Thank you, this is actually what I've been wanting to know! You can create MIDI in your DAW without MIDI compatibility on your audio interface and it will still cure the sound latency (delay) problems when you're playing your piano into your DAW and creating MIDI?
I'm on the verge of ordering a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen to solve sound latency (delay) problems! I've just been wanting to know if I'm safe to buy an audio interface that does not have MIDI compatibility, given that one thing I want to do is create MIDI in my DAW with my digital piano (I can connect my piano to my PC with a printer cable to create MIDI)
For my personal experiency it worked like this! 🤗
@@francescapittoni6482 Thanks so much. I think I will at long last order a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen very soon!
@@striverfor7628 so have you ordered Scarlett 2i2 yet? How was your experience so far? I am on the verge of getting one!
Dear Francesca, where in the flow you presented do I ever need the Focusrite? Since you can connect the keyboard straight to the PC, via usb cable, why do you need Focusrite? If you had connected the keyboard to Focusrite via audio cables, then Focusrite to the PC via usb cable (as you do in ua-cam.com/video/BxkwxzeVrw4/v-deo.html), then I would have understood, but in this setup, Focusrite plays no role. Can't I still use Ableton Live with the keyboard hooked directly to the PC over usb? This is important, because buying Focusrite is an investment, which may be more expensive than buying an Ableton Live license.
You could use Ableton without audio interface but you'll probably get delays im the audio back.
However try and let me know
@@francescapittoni6482 Yes, I could, but I am just trying to put the things you said head to head and something just does not add up. You connected the keyboard via usb, therefore midi, to laptop. You then connected Scarlett via usb to laptop too. Scarlet is not in between the keyboad and laptop, as someone would expect. Are you implying that the data goes from keyboard to laptop and from laptop to Scarlett, while Ableton gets it from Scarlet? That is weird! How does this improve the latency? To me it just worsen it.
@@alexandrustireciu832 No I never said that.
I am not a sound engineer, but I believe that the MIDI signal arrives to the computer and is processed by the sound card, then returned to the user.
You can use your laptop built-in sound card, or you can use an external sound card as I recommend in the video. Your choice.
Of course, you cannot expect the same output from an external sound card and from the buiilt-in sound card of a laptop, which often, but not always, does not perform at very high levels.
@@alexandrustireciu832 As I said in the previous comment, you can avoid using the external sound card if you feel comfortable, I personally can't because that minimum sound delay I hear, annoys me
@@francescapittoni6482 Ableton takes the MIDI either from the USB port where you hooked up the keyboard, or from the USB port where you hooked up Scarlett. The MIDI data from your keyboard does not go to computer, then to Scarlett and then back to computer, for Ableton to use it. It does not work this way. Scarlett is good for those keyboards which do not have MIDI connection via USB, and it acts as a bridge between keyboard and computer/Ableton. It takes the analog output from the keyboard and does an analog-to-digital conversion on it by sampling it. Then it feeds the data as MIDI to computer/Ableton. So Scarlett should stay in between keyboard and computer.
In your setup it is not like that, and this made me questioning the role Scarlett plays, if any, if you get my point.
