I love that your channel exists for 2 reasons: 1. You're living proof that women with 4c hair can grow it long. I'm tired of people saying that 4c hair can't grow. 2. You're living proof that it's possible to wear your hair out and still retain length. I hate the widely accepted notion that kinky hair must be in protective styles 90% of the time to get it to grow. Anyway, thank you for making this channel and for all your help. 💜
Fatima Manneh if it genetics, are other people in your family having sloe growth? 7 years is a really long time to grow to collar bone length. I agree with the other lady , your hair sounds like its breaking . my hair grows a 1/4" a month but I got to collar bone in less than year and a half.
I agree with your second point. I honestly dont like protective styling . if I can find a way to way my hair out without getting breakage I would be so happy. Whats the point of going natural if nobody can see your hair.
xtel folaj YES! Your last sentence! I like some protective styles like wigs and crochet braids but I'm always happier when I wear my hair out. But I could never retain length that way. I was getting so frustrated cause I felt like to grow a centimeter I had to wear a wig for months. 😒 But now I wear my hair out all the time. Wash and gos, updos, braidouts. And I'm retaining my length and getting virtually no breakage. This only started happening at the end of August this year and I've been natural since 2012. 😩 I've found that deep conditioning with heat made the difference. My hair isn't fragile and brittle anymore and my curls pop more too. I'm 4a/4b.
gigglyfitzgirl I find that in the summer time my hair dries out within a day but in the winter my hair stay moisturize for the week. My hair grows faster when i leave it alone But I need to know how to strengthen it because I get big afros when I thread my hair but that requires combing and I dont know how to maintain my ends in that state. But I'm glad you can find a balance I stopped wear wigs because it took my edges with it😩. But I've only been wearing chunky twist inna bun but man I feel free when my hair is in anytype of Afro undefined, twist out, braids, flat twist out😍
Suggestion about the satin bonnet, wear the satin bonnet inside out where the elastic band is facing outward and not rubbing your edges. Thank you for your tips. Beautiful you. Beautiful hair!
I tuck the elastic band up so the satin part is on my edges. My bonnet is big and dropping so my hair gets oxygen. I noticed a big difference. Bc I noticed my head scarf was pushing my hairline back plus taking out my edges.
I am guilty of my scarf on my edges😰😰😰no lie I was laying here with my scarf tightly hugging my edges ..when i saw you said try it around your forehead area i hurried up n sat up n changed it😌😅😳but it all make sense cause you could be cutting off the blood circulation on your edges from growing...and i never thought about it that way...thank you so much😘😍😊
We have the same hair routine! I recently started using those products and my hair is flourishing I’m a new subscriber your honesty and the way your videos aren’t “too perfect” makes me want to tune in even more
Thank you for sharing your routine. My silk cap made my front edges bald also. It was the one with the broad elastic band covered with silk. I thought it was protecting my edges but it was thinning it out badly; when I figured that out I was so upset. So now I know what to do for mine. Again, thanks! xoxo
Omg you’re gorgeous ! I know you hear it a lot on your videos lol. I love your hair and I appreciate your help! The most informative naturalists on UA-cam. Thank you!!
I'm Jamaican and the black castor oil, work miracles! Esp. The real deal, from Jamaica. I find that they added stuff to it, so that it smells better etc. But I grew up using the real deal. Sulphur 8, yellow label is great too.
I am so grateful to you. I didn't understand why my hair is growing except my edges, and why they are so weak. I tie my hair badly. I'll def do this! Thank you. God bless you chica! All love from Trinidad and Tobago. 💚💚💚
Thank you so much for this tip. I'm new to this hair journey and my edges are bad. They've grown a lot recently bc of tips I've seen on UA-cam but I'm definitely going to try what you suggested. Thanks love 💕💕
Not Ghanaian, but marrying a Ghanaian King 🤗🤗🤗 I LOVE LOVE yur hair. I use pure aloe leaf, Jamaican black castor oil, Africa's Best Herbal Oil, and Wild Growth oil. I make a blend. I use that for me, but use a little bit of that BB Oil Creme on my daughters since theey have loose natural hair. I have dreads. I was curious about your hair routine. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! ❤❤❤
Ty sooo much for this video. My hair is long and I needed a different technique to wash and detangle without losing a lot of hair. Was about to go to creamy crack. but I will try this for a few months. Great tips!!
I'm so hapy ! I so understand you. Like i had a part were my alopecie had been gone but i didn't understand why my edges keep getting thinner...it was the way i put my scarf for sleeping. Now i put a little spandex wrap with velcro. It covers my edges and a bit of my forehead. After i put my bonnet or my scarf and now my edges i growing back with little massage and lotion
Grow edges are such a pain. The last protective styling stint did a number on my edges. I have been using JBCO but it's a slow process but I guess I need to be patient. I will try aloe vera to see if it helps. Also everyone on here is asking/saying if you're Ghanian. My father is from Ghana. :)
Thank you for the tips you are giving concerning how to wear the silk scarf not wearing it too tightly round the hair edges. I wear a silk scarf at night, but do wear it low on my forehead, as it doesn't go onto my edges. Blessings!!!!
you are the only you tube so far who's stopped balding by twist the hair around. I've experienced balding patterns throughout my head mainly because of tight braids. but once I decided to go natural, I thought how could I help my hair. I noticed people that dread, twist their hair. and it grows. So I decided to try that as well. I immediately noticed within weeks how healthier my hair became.
Yes, any covered tension during hours of sleeping can definitely slow down the edge growth. I also do mild, gentle pulling on my roots to stimulate hair growth. This has worked wonders for me. All of these little hair's are growing in where it was previously thin and bald!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I was going through it after I had baby last year, but it is growing back slowly but surely. My are the same section has your. I have been using castor oil only maybe I should get some vitamin e oil to mix with it
Hey, thanks for sharing. In experiencing the same thing. I narrowed down it to my satin scarf as the culprit. I'll adjust the position of where I tie it.
I have the same areas problems due to bad dandruff on my hairline. I've tried a lot of products to remove them, selsun blue seems to give me a relief but i still got dandruff on that area. selsun blue is really difficult to find in France
I just use JBCO on my edges. You are mentioning again , as in another video, that 2x's dark JBCO is "Better" than regular JBCO. Do you have any medical proof that the darker it is, the more effective? You are the first person I've hears say this. One thing you mentioned adding Aloe Vera gel which I think is beneficial.
+Deirdre Gaskin I don't have a medical proof. Any JBCO would be just as great. The extra dark one is a personal favorite. There is a believe that the way they process JBCO holds more nutrition so maybe the extra dark one even more nutrition.
I had surgery and 3-6months later my edges fell off. I did the same as you. I isolated the thin part trim it moisturize and put a flat twist to keep it seperate.
I thought the CLEARER the oil the BETTER? the only reason its dark is because how it was processed and it burnt most of the good grediants or nutrients you need. but if u know something I dont please let me know??
Thanks because I do everything and mine is truly growing except the aloe vera gel of which I'll incorporate into my regime just to boost my hair growth, thanks 😊
Do you have any tips for people who have allergic reactions to oils? I’ve tried all kinds of oils but everything makes my scalp itch. I don’t apply it to my scalp because that just makes things really bad but I am not able to put anything in my hair lately without it causing a reaction and I’m losing my mind

Finally found my hair twin! 😍😍 I struggle a lot with my edges too so I'll definitely try this regimen
Hey guys, I just wanted to add that any JBCO is just as good. The eXtra dark one is just a personal favorite. But regular JBCO is just as great.
Craving Curly Kinks what about regular castor oil? Is it as potent as jbco?
Regular castor oil should be good as well.
Craving Curly Kinks please where do you get the 2 times extra dark from cause I can’t find it
About the fermentation rice method will you boil it and leave it to ferment or not.
Where can i find the real JBCO sending that to Brazil?
Keep up the great work! Seriously happy to see you in this forum for my littke girls’ sake to see more Ghanaians !
+Maisha Addai 😘 Thank You❤️

+LT Cartwright Omg really? wow see I knew it wasn't just me! I am glad you find this helpful.
I wear my cap inside out so the elastic band is on the outside
I really like the idea of separating the edges to deep conditioning
I will try that and isolating the thinner edges from the rest
Thanks for sharing👍
