Small correction (Ty to comments for pointing it out): ratio’s ultimate is not classified as a debuff it’s just an “effect”.
Another correction: The "effect" of the ultimate that triggers follow up attacks by Ratio cannot be triggered by Ratio himself, only his allies. Meaning you can use skill and followup with Ratio, but it wont consume a stack of his ult on the enemy.
At least thats what I've seen from showcase videos on YT. Unless they have changed it since then.
Also another correction: Silver Wolf can apply around 7 debuffs. I pretty sure 5 is not the max. Which more of an over kill.
Also Dr. Ratio can't trigger his Ult himself, only allies can.
As others have mentioned (before the re upload) he was probably made without intent of being free and balanced around being just another limited 5*, so him being really good isn’t a surprise
But limited 5 stars can be bad too.

I have been in desperate need for a dedicated damage dealer and an Imaginary unit, so getting Dr. Ratio for free is a godsend. I have prefarmed most of the resources for him. I'm probably going to use him with Pela mainly. It is encouraging to see Erudition and Hunt getting cool units let alone getting one of them as a gift.

My only "problem" with Ratio is his path, since I already have Topaz, Seele and Yanqing and 2 of them are constantly switching light cones, but that's just a skill issue of mine 😭
A misconception is that he was made to be free. He wasn’t, he is a typical limited 5 star that we were given for free so him being a good unit isn’t really that surprising

I decided early on that follow-up damage was my primary playstyle, hence why I immediately grabbed Topaz and Numby. And I still don't have an Imaginary DPS.
Dr. Ratio being free is like some kind of gift directly to me from Mihoyo after all my years of pain 😂
Same, I started playing in the Fu Xuan banner cause of both Fu Xuan being pretty and liking Topaz’s kit so much (both ass and follow up dmg increase lol), and I was going to pull for Dr. Ratio 1million percent, but him being free gave us the opportunity to go for SW and Ruan Mei without missing him
I had the exact fame thought process when i got topaz. Like I already had a built Clara and Jy at the time so it was a no brainer, now with Dr. Ratio, I'm even more glad i got Topaz
im sad because ive taken to follow up as well but i didnt really like topaz much so i didnt pull for her. I probably still wont, and will instead save for another support for him. Yukong does more than enough though. I have 50% crit rate on him ,with his personal buffs i get 20% crit rate and with yukongs burst it tops it off at 100%. I hope there will be a better harmony synergy with him in the future, since i still dont want topaz but its whatever

TopAss and Numby with Veritas Ratio is basically single target Herta and Himeko
Dr Ratio achieves things that Aloy would never ever achieve:
1. Being a viable character in the meta that synergies with other units.
2. Being a limited 5 star that has a possibility of a rerun in the future so we can get eidolons
This is insane for a free unit. Although I tempered my expectations and are anxious of what HSR's anniversary will be like, i have full confidence in the HSR devs with how generous they are. We will definitely vote for this game in the Game Awards in 2024.
I also have confidence, too. After all, HI3 has been generous with its viable S-Ranks (HoS & HoO).

Don't forget, there's also type compatibility. Someone as old as Mobius could be a godsend when paired with the right enemy.
Im so glad the free 5 star was a beefy tall handsome guy whos actually really strong, i still have to wait like 10 hours but im planning on going for his lightcone mainly just for the art, itll be my first signature if i get it, next i hope to get jing yuans, good luck anyone trying to get eidolons and lightconesss!!!!

As a lot of comments already said, Ratio was made with sales in mind. But since HSR won an award, they gave him for free, possibly to shake genshin players into trying HSR out too. I guess they sacrificed the sales for his banner for that advertisement, also since 2.0 is gonna release anyway. What is a better way to start/ get back to the game
It's not really a sacrifice when the release an unit like him for Free.

People are always comparing Aloy and Dr. Ratio because they're free. But what people don't realize is that Aloy was made because Genshin became available in the Playstation. While Dr. Ratio was not designed to be free but became one because of HSR winning a lot of awards.

Dr. Ratio wasn't designed to be a free character but people act like he is, so they speculated that he's gonna be bad. Then he released and people were like " A FREE CHARACTER THAT ACTUALLY GOOD???" Like obviously he's gonna be good because all limited banner characters in HSR are atleast decent so he's no exception.

@@efebs4978 Kinda just makes Genshin look worse. The only 5 star character they gave for free was not out of thanking the community for the support to the game but because they are forced to make a guest character by being available to Playstation. And she's not even good lol

But genshin also didn't receive the same awards hsr recently got so they didn't have a reason to giveaway a free 5 star before (the anniversary is a different story though)
This is exactly why I pulled for topaz! Her ability to buff follow up attacks felt just like Kafka's ability to enable DOT teams
I thought the reupload was correcting the bit about triggering his ultimate Follow up attack. He cannot trigger his follow up attack twice in one turn. Wise Man's Folly's Follow up attack only triggers when other teammates attack the target and will not trigger if Dr Ratio attacks the enemy.
If you are new/f2p you can use Pela, she has 3 debuffs... 2 def reduction and ice shredd. Pela is so good she fits in almost every team.
The ice shread buff is from her E4 right? And 1 def reduction is only from her technique so its gonna last for 2 first turn #cmiww
Technically it can be 4 with luka's lc but the other one is from her technique which is limited time use
You can only have 2 debuffs with Pela, 3 with Pearls of Swear LC, and that's with E4. The DEF shred on her technique can't be considered since it's not refreshable in battle.
Didn't thought he would be this fun to play he is extremly fun to play as he just throws a choke for every follow up the animation is soo fun to watch.
Just a small piece of advice for everyone who doesn't have any of the limited debuffers: Pela is workable for Ratio she only provides 1 or 2 debuffs if e4 by herself but if you have it she can also use resolution shines as pearls of sweat for another debuff. Similarly Guinaifen is arguably the best 4★ debuffing support for Ratio. She innately provides burn and firekiss for 2 debuffs to start, if you have her e1, which like ratio's lowers eff res, she gets a 3rd and resolution LC can be a 4th. Of those 4 burn is the only one that doesn't directly buff Ratio, but it's there so she can stack firekiss and, if she's built for it, also provides some non-negligiable damage.
Ratio is probably hunts biggest comeback after being overshadowed by erudition, probably because of pure fictions release. The way hoyo designs hunt characters now needs to be more intricate than seele, as she is just damage with resets (not saying that's bad, she's very good). Ratio has good game design (except the kinda lackluster eidolons) and I'm gonna really like him
Lackluster eidolon? Are you kidding me? His E0 hits harder than anyone in a ST and even higher at e2 e4 and e6.
yea I feel like people are saying Seele fell off a bit TOO hard. She's still very good and can absolutely nuke enemies with her ult, other units just have an easier time getting to that nowadays.
Guys I never said she fell off. Honestly she's like top 10 characters for me. I just said, hunt needed something fresh

@@saimfaisal6795 they're not talking about you specifically, but people's opinion on Seele in general. Truth be told, Seele has been getting doomposted a lot in many comment sections for some time now, and it kind of grinds my gears a bit since she's basically just as good as the like of DHIL and Jingliu. She's not exactly S+ like she used to be, but the fact that she only dropped to S tier after 6 versions compared to Jingyuan says a lot lol.

I am confused of the exact reason of re-upload, but after using Ratio with my own build, created Ratio team consist of E5 Yukong + E2 Welt + E0 Luocha, I am satisfied with his gameplay, my Welt can apply 5 debuff and 6th debuff from Ratio, Yukong crits buff from Ultimate and Luocha as team sustain.

I'd rather temper my expectations, maybe something in the middle of a free limited and a 10-pull perhaps, because they've been giving 10 pulls for free every patch. An interesting reward however would be infinite energy for the week of the anniversary so we can get the relics for the characters we want, but I wouldn't be betting on a free limited anymore tbh
Don’t think we’re getting an anniversary present on this level simply because this drop is primarily serving to bring in and bring back players ahead of 2.0.
Best-case scenario, we’ll get a 5-star from the standard banner, but I imagine it’ll just be 10 pulls. Potentially a bit pessimistic, but tempered expectations go a long way to mitigating disappointment.
Mayybe tone your Expectations to Standard or a 7 day login 20 pull

I’m so glad he’s free.. I spent to get Argenti and got worried if I didn’t have enough time to save up stellar jades for Dr. Ratio because I also want Ruan Mei. So when I heard Dr. Ratio was free I was over the moon, I also won my 50/50 and got Ruan Mei 🙏. All I have to worry about is to get his light cone 😍
From the moment I played him as trial in the story mode, I knew, HE was the one.
I'm a sucker for imaginary men so I may have been biased but the fact that I felt good using despite not knowing shits about his gameplay is just... *Chef Kiss*
I'm saving for another character though so maybe when he gets a rerun, I'll get his light cone
Nihility and hunt are my favorite damage paths so this is great for me
SW usually apply 6 debuffs: 3 bugs, 2 skill (weakness and all res shred) and ulti

I pulled for silver wolf because she is cool, not realizing she would be good with another one of my new favourites, Dr L + Ratio. Lucky me. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention that I got SV and Ruan Mei at around 35 pity, without losing any 50-50’s.
A good combination I found is Black swan with Ratio. I gave her "Resolution shines as pearls of sweat."
This means with a skill use she applies arcana, def reduction and 60% chance of a snare. So with just 1 skill use she can make 3 people have an 100% chance to get the L from Ratio and also increase the damage they take. Plus she can use her ultimate for an extra debuff on all enemies, in case you miss the 60% chance.
Thank god I was able to get Ruan Mei and Sliver wolf for my first limited banner characters

Do Guinaifen's Burn, Firekiss, and Slurping Noodles During Handstand all count as unique debuffs? If so, thats a quick and easy way to get 3 debuffs from just 1 character.

Fun fact: Dr. Ratio is called "Dr. Wahrheit" in German, wich translates back to "Dr. Truth"

Just built my Ratio to lv 70, 52/153 crit, lv 6 traces on skill, ult, and talent with all bonus traces unlocked. He managed to clear swarm lv 5 with path of elation with ease.
I know he was good, but that's just ridiculous
They should have swapped his skill and basic attack animation. I just want him to be whacking enemies with a book than that triangle-thingy.

the answer of if ratio is good or not is simple: what he is capable of is just how youd expect from him if he was never given to all players for free. So pretend he was just released, but he wasn't given for free. You decide to roll for him, get him, and put his build on. His performance is impressive, and you are content. That is how ratio is. hes a good hunt unit, does what hes meant to do, and when given the right supports, hes unbeatable, though his playstyle is a bit niche just as any other follow up character is.
The fact hes free just means everyone gets this impressive unit, hes definitely not disappointing and its a shame people glorify him/ shit on him simply because hes free. Hes a 5 star imaginary hunt. the playstyle of a hunt follow up attack unit is what should be expected, and with high investment he will deal impressive numbers.
honestly im more impressed by him than i was by kafka during her release. DoT isnt for me, but i love jing yuan, blade, and i also love ratio so i guess im a follow up attack lover. Ratio is a great unit for fellow follow up enjoyers

Honestly I’m pretty sure they designed Ratio as an actual limited five star, and weren’t planning on giving him to everyone from free until Star Rail won Mobile game of the year, in which case they went “How can we thank the players for this?” How about make the newest limited five star who isn’t a waifu free?” And everyone went “Brilliant.” Which is probably why he doesn’t feel like a free unit, he wasn’t designed as one.
It dosnt matter if he's meta( He is ) his character is extremely good. Good and unique design and free aswell. Even if he wasn't free, He'd still be a solid fun character.
Can everyone stop acting like Dr Ratio and Aloy are comparable situations?
One was a last minute decision and not made with the idea of being free, the other was a collab with Playstation as a small bonus to celebrate the launch of the game on the console.
Using a character that was never intended to be high level just as a reason to make fun of Genshin is just annoying and shows that most people are just looking for a reason to start arguments.

what i learned after building and using ratio:
With topaz and signature LC, he's stupidly OP. Without topaz and and on a F2P LC, he's mediocre.
Seele's Resurgence buff isnt a 1.8x dmg increase. It is treated as a damage bonus similar to quantum dmg boost and dmg boost from bronya E.. As the dmg formula is: Total Atk x Skill Multiplier x (1+ total Damage Bonus) x (1+ total crit dmg) x Def Multiplier x Vulnerability Multiplier (base at 100%) x Res Multiplier (also base at 100%) x Toughness Multiplier (default of toughness multiplier at 90% and becomes 100% when enemies are weakness broken).
So a true final dmg increase would be Vulnerability and Res Pen.

Don't pick on me but I had 20 pulls to get a 5 star weapon trying to get Topaz. But got Dr Ratio on that 20th pull. No regrets, I wanted him from the rip.

He is probably the strongest welfare unit ever given in gacha history, he is the strongest dps in the game by a landslide and modt of the future characters arent dpses to begin with (heck most actually make him even better)

Every time something cool comes out you just see the two communities trying to throw each other under the bus, and content creators just adding fuel to the fire to gain engagement.

2 Errors, his Ultimate does not apply a debuff, Secondly he cannot proc his own ultimate follow-up marks.
As someone who's got lots of free S rankers in Honkai Impact 3rd i'm not impressed or surprised. Don't get me wrong, i'm happy, it's just i expected a free 5 star like this since the game's release.

being a 5 star unit isn't all about gacha, it's also based on kit and their performance on hard content. and ratio has surpassed the low expectations and doubt the players gave him.

If a free character is good, there would be no need to spend money on other characters and hoyoverse would lose profit. I don't know why Dr ratio is good (i saw videos, i know he is) but I was just..... Well... Reflecting on this matter
@@KittyNatiquinha I mean gacha games before mihoyo got famous has been giving SSR/5 star units for free since forever. You can also see that in hoyo's older gacha titles. it's actually nice of them to return to the roots of devs being generous and being thankful to their dedicated playerbase. It's an overall win-win for everyone.

HSR is approaching Blue Archive in "this character becomes more powerful with debuff teammates", and there's basically no way to see quickly who has debuffs unless you go and reaf each character's talents.

As a theorycrafter I will drop my and the take a lot of other TCs share:
He is good. Not godly/broken. He shines in the scenarios where he works and falls behind in scenarios where he doesn't (mainly PF and conditionally MoC)
It is great that he is being given away for free, but they knew what they where doing, they managed to make seele not fall off in aoe scenarios despite also being hunt
Honestly seele is much more of a pseudo erudition rather than just a hunt, her potential is locked due to her need to kill enemies
