Congrats on getting through an area that most come to later in the game. Weapon durability: there's a mini healthbar under your sword on the HUD. When you sit at a bonfire, the durability resets, as long as the weapon isn't completely broken. If the weapon breaks, you have to pay the smith to fix it (and only after you open his shop). Would recommend experimenting with different weapons on different enemies. A lot of enemies with armor are weaker to strike (blunt) weapons, so keep a mace or club. Some enemies are weak to piercing, some to slashing.
Going to No Man's Wharf is like skipping Stormveil in Elden Ring and going straight to Raya Lucaria without passing by Roundtable Hold to upgrade your weapons.

Great job with the Flexile Sentry! In this game, you'll find yourself leveling up a lot more compared to other FromSoftware games since you earn a ton of souls. To talk to Carhillion, you need a minimum of 8 Intelligence. Also, just a heads-up: I wouldn’t recommend running past enemies in this game-they’ll chase you for a long time, and it can become overwhelming. Keep in mind, your maximum HP diminishes by 5% every time you die, until it caps at 50% of your max HP. Using a Human Effigy will restore it to normal, so it’s something to keep in mind. If you had a torch in No-Man’s Wharf, it would have been much easier-those alien creatures would have cowered in fear, making navigation safer. Also, if you had explored a bit more, you could’ve found Guts’ Greatsword in a chest! Before continuing from No-Man’s Wharf, I suggest checking out the Forest of the Fallen Giants-there might be some things there that will help you later. Of course, it’s totally up to you! Can’t wait to see more of your journey-keep up the great work!
Dunno if someone mentioned already, but you can light your torch at a bonfire or with the Flame Butterfly item. With your torch lit, you can light sconces in the world (like all the ones in No Man's Warf) and light your own torch from whatever sconce as well. This would have created safe pockets from the big bleedy guys, who also run away from you if you are holding a lit torch, and would have helped you track your progress better, so No Man's Warf was definitely not supposed to be that dark, you were just on hard mode lol.

Boss weapons go up to +5. • There are moths "hidden" in places throughout the game, shoot them down. Remember to look up. • Wearing a "certain" helmet, into a "certain" DLC boss, will cause that boss to immediately go into phase 2. •There are invisible people you may accidentally run into (literally). If you are stopped by something you can't see, try to hit it. Using a torch/light source will allow you to see them too. • Explosives and big enemies, can be used to destroy solid walls, that give you access to hidden items or massive shortcuts. • Equipment load has massive implications. Your roll speed and distance are affected "gradually" by how much of your max equipment load you are using, this also affects your stamina recovery speed too. Roughly every 10% difference changes your rolling. Exceeding 70% of your maximum equip load, will make you "fat" roll. Having lower equipment load reduces your fall damage. Naked = less fall damage Armor/battle ready = more fall damage • In the beginning part of the game, there may be a mini boss that "falls from the sky", if you leave or die they will not come back. So... Lock in. Or maybe later? ______________________________________ Will add more...if I remember anymore.
DS2 is my favorite souls series game--I'm impressed you endured a no torch no man's wharf run before the forest of fallen giants. I think I've only done this once and I've done over 10 full playthroughs Protip: 20 vit, 20 endurance, 15 adp gets you a long way (I'm an adp denier lol just perfect roll or parry) Fun fact: halberds have a 'sweet spot' when attacking, which means your damage is worse if you land an attack 'wrong'--I recommend only using these weapons when you're more used to the game. Strike weapons are extremely good in DS2 btw. You will find a particularly good one when you find a second blacksmith In order to complete Lucatiel's quest, you must summon her while human and win 3 boss fights with her alive. The lizard boy was one such boss fight she could've been summoned for. There are at least 3 more summon spots for her--good luck! Don't worry, she doesn't make the fight easier in my experience LOL
The bulk of your damage is going to come from weapon upgrades as opposed to stat investment, though stats are definetly valuable once you have the weapons upgraded
Also, an attack right after a roll will be locked in the direction you rolled towards. Some weapons will have some attacks locked in the direction you are moving rather than your target too
That win against Flexile Sentry with an unupgraded weapon and lower stats was impressive ngl. Once you started attacking once or twice and backing away I knew you had it GG Davo 👏🏻 Oh and Invaders in this game are max disrespectful, that's why I keep 99 Life Gems and healing spells in case they decide to pay me a visit 😂 A Tip to help with a blossoming Strength build in DS2: You don't need more than 15 Dex, and even then that's a bit excessive 12 or 13 is a pretty good point that way you can capitalize on Strength, ADP, and Vigor. Also Strike type damage is highly effective in this game against anything with armor or scales. Oh and some incentive to visit Forest of Giants: The Merchant that sells Life Gems and other important items is there, and she NEVER runs out of Life Gems so long as you buy like 1,500 souls worth of items from her I believe.
hidden walls in ds2 arent like the other games, some of them can be swung at, some of them need you to press the interact button (X on playstation, A on xbox i think?), and some only appear when certain conditions are met like if you need to use a pharros lockstone first for example
I’m level 90 in my first ever playthrough of ds2, started with Elden ring, didn’t finish it. Now I’m going through the whole franchise and imma replay Elden ring. Beat ds1 and now my ultra greatsword wielding, 5 adaptability having, no pants wearing warrior is fighting the smelter demon
Now imagine if you've reached this boss with an upgraded weapon and a bit higher lvl this would have been a not that hard boss. But congrats! It feels better if it's harder😄. Still I'd advise looking around Majula where other place can you go instead of progressing through No Man's Wharf
Hey man, psa if you didn't know, but upgrading Dex will also increase damage. There are dex scaling weapons and str scaling weapons. I.e bows and katanas typically scale dmg with dex
Bro I’ve been a huge fan of your Elden ring and ds1 playthrough. Played and beat all the souls games (I’ve reached unc status cuz I played them all when they came out). Ds2 is a unique one. It’s honestly a pretty aggravating grind until you get about 40 percent into the game. But once your character gets some levels and some good gear, the game gets a lot more fun. Just gotta stick with it bro you got this.
About weapon durability: You can see a little durability bar under your weapon, which I belief resets when you rest. But yeah I have 300 hours in this game and only recently saw that bar
@davobands Okay, bringing it back in the future would be great since I can't catch streams, but do whatever works best for you. Either way I hope you enjoy the experience. It's my favorite game
So I've noticed you still haven't used a human effigy, besides burning one in the bonfire in the first episode. If you just use it from your inventory like any other consumable, that's how you restore your humanity. So you won't be an ugly hollow and you'll have your full HP bar back. Also, if you didn't have that ring on, yes, your HP would slowly go down with each death and stop at half.
there's also another mini shortcut halfway into the map before the bridge where you can meet a fat heavily armoured npc guy with a huge drink. it's under where you first meet the spider things
Flexile sentry is easier if you just stand behind the pillar and bait him into attacking it and then you just lead him in circles while attacking him every so often. Bro made it way harder than it had to be LMAO You also wasted that homeward bone at the end pretty sure there was a bonfire like right there lol
@@sambonbon755 I only recently actually played DS2 I'm not mocking him I literally had some of the same issues which is why I think it's funny. Get off your high horse.
DS2 is weird, in any other souls game the first time run is the best, you know nothing and keep explore the game is fun, and after that you want to forget everything to feel that again. But DS2 first run is hard (but not fun enough) maybe nightmare for some people, but 2nd run when you know exactly what you need to do, DS2 will be fun
Man really making life difficult for himself. "Like I care I skipped a level, its loot, vendor, and souls. Bruh why this so hard?" Also doesn't light a single sconce, his own torch, and kills the friendly hollow that has a torch. Even refuses to use human effigies, the clearly telegraphed npc summon, and wastes a ring slot on the cling ring.
@blessanabey5575 No I'm talking like he should have taken advice he was given. That he should try thinking about things instead of bashing his head against a wall.
@ ahh, I get what you mean. I didn’t ignore the advice given, at the beginning of the episode I acknowledged the advice and even found the path to the forest of giants. I made the conscious decision to go into no man’s wharf KNOWING it was going to be difficult. Killing that boss was more rewarding to me than killing the one in the forest of giants would’ve been. I appreciate the help but I don’t think it’s fair for people to impose how they play the game on me when it’s my first playthrough. Even though I struggled, I think it’s fair to say I’m doing alright ❤️
So the forest of giants is where you find the merchant that sells not only lifegems, but the key to the smith as well, she’s at the second bonfire. Theres also an npc that gives you the key to the manor at the back of majula. Theres a skeleton in the basement that always drops a human effigy that brings your health back to full so you can maintain full health indefinitely. Good job going through the area, however you seem to be going through the adjustment period of this game after getting used to what came before and after it so some things to keep in mind: •This game punishes running past all of the enemies more than any other game, doable, but they take it personally • you passed the torches of the area which would have made it easier to see and there are more areas like this. The torch in general is more important and some secrets require having it lit. You can lit it on the bonfire • if they’re in water they take extra lightning damage, if they get covered in oil same for fire damage, explosive barrels can sometimes open shortcuts. The game doesnt tell you these things, but it does have subtle gimmicks and logic that reward the player. Its a big part of the appeal • expect to take damage, even if its chip damage its less a game about beating it hitless as using strategy and spacing to work around it. Lifegems can be stacked and even used before taking damage if you expect it. Practicing fighting without staying locked on the majority of the time also helps in this game. Sorry for the novel, but i hope it helps
What is the point of a first time playthrough if he gets everything spoonfed? We are supposed to feel the «oh no’s» and «you should have». When we all played through our first time we also played it in a suboptimal way, we are here to grasp the feeling of experiencing it again and be a part of his journey, backseat gaming doesn’t help anyone. So please keep your impatience to yourself 🙏🏻
@ there’s a large difference between spoiling a game and giving more insight on mechanics he missed in the area. Telling him the torch is useful and that no mans warf has torches to light only spoils an area he’s already completed. I agree that spoiling and backseat gaming are not things we should be doing, but small pieces of knowledge that give players some insight into the more subtle and obscure mechanics in a more generalized sense is literally expected of this entire series

Naked = less fall damage
Armor/battle ready = more fall damage
• In the beginning part of the game, there may be a mini boss that "falls from the sky", if you leave or die they will not come back.
So... Lock in.
Or maybe later?

Will add more...if I remember anymore.
DS2 is my favorite souls series game--I'm impressed you endured a no torch no man's wharf run before the forest of fallen giants. I think I've only done this once and I've done over 10 full playthroughs
Protip: 20 vit, 20 endurance, 15 adp gets you a long way (I'm an adp denier lol just perfect roll or parry)
Fun fact: halberds have a 'sweet spot' when attacking, which means your damage is worse if you land an attack 'wrong'--I recommend only using these weapons when you're more used to the game. Strike weapons are extremely good in DS2 btw. You will find a particularly good one when you find a second blacksmith
In order to complete Lucatiel's quest, you must summon her while human and win 3 boss fights with her alive.
Once you started attacking once or twice and backing away I knew you had it GG Davo 👏🏻 Oh and Invaders in this game are max disrespectful, that's why I keep 99 Life Gems and healing spells in case they decide to pay me a visit 😂
A Tip to help with a blossoming Strength build in DS2: You don't need more than 15 Dex, and even then that's a bit excessive 12 or 13 is a pretty good point that way you can capitalize on Strength, ADP, and Vigor.
You can burn human effigies at bonfies to stop people from invading for 30 mins
I would suggest going to the forest before progressing
hidden walls in ds2 arent like the other games, some of them can be swung at, some of them need you to press the interact button (X on playstation, A on xbox i think?), and some only appear when certain conditions are met like if you need to use a pharros lockstone first for example
If you went to forest of fallen giants first you could have gotten an item that lets you light up no mans wharf
In ds2 to avoid invasions you have to use a human effigy at a bonfire
I love how you actively try to torture yourself, it’s very admirable
I don’t know why I was so hard headed either 😭
Forrest of giants has a npc that lets you buy life gems
never played ds2 before but stamina seems like a big problem rn, you barely have enough for a few attacks and 1 roll and its getting you hit
tip try to havea secondary weapon so that you wont have to constently use repair powder and repairing it
yo davo you should try out souls pvp in a later video, it'd be sick to have a DCU elden ring tournament arc or something
You can light a torch at the bonfire, and trust me Torches will be very helpful thought-out your playthrough
About weapon durability: You can see a little durability bar under your weapon, which I belief resets when you rest. But yeah I have 300 hours in this game and only recently saw that bar
Thank you for the tip 😭
Good luck, I been fw ds2 after actually playing it
Not doing the witcher anymore?
I’ll either be bringing it back in the future or will start streaming it
@davobands Okay, bringing it back in the future would be great since I can't catch streams, but do whatever works best for you. Either way I hope you enjoy the experience. It's my favorite game
I recommend leveling your ADP to 20. Strength isn't that important in the early game. It's gonna be useful after upgrading your weapons.
Davo !!! ❤
Stepsis !!! ❤️
Bros doing a challange run
So I've noticed you still haven't used a human effigy, besides burning one in the bonfire in the first episode. If you just use it from your inventory like any other consumable, that's how you restore your humanity. So you won't be an ugly hollow and you'll have your full HP bar back. Also, if you didn't have that ring on, yes, your HP would slowly go down with each death and stop at half.
I literally just beat this game 2 days ago it's ight lmfao
22:10 nah bro. it's completely lit. your game but I'd recommend trying not to rush past everything
there's also another mini shortcut halfway into the map before the bridge where you can meet a fat heavily armoured npc guy with a huge drink. it's under where you first meet the spider things
Tho i can speedrun no man wharf in less than 2 minutes but i get why no man wharf is hell for new ds2 players.
Dude you should’ve stayed with the forest of the giants
But still good work you are doing great in comparison to a starter
Feed your Davlings Davo 😭💔
YALL FED BRO CMON 😭😭
you missing flask numbers
What does this mean
Flexile sentry is easier if you just stand behind the pillar and bait him into attacking it and then you just lead him in circles while attacking him every so often. Bro made it way harder than it had to be LMAO
You also wasted that homeward bone at the end pretty sure there was a bonfire like right there lol
You say these things like the kid calling people dumb because you already know the answer to the puzzle. Knowledge isnt intelligence
@@sambonbon755 I only recently actually played DS2 I'm not mocking him I literally had some of the same issues which is why I think it's funny. Get off your high horse.
Going hollow in game and irl
Hi Bro, I Love It So Much !
My Favorite UA-camr On My Favorite Dark Souls
Keep It Up Bro !
You can eventually respec in DS2 So don’t worry too much about wasting levels
why is he not using human efigies? its a waste spend levels in vitality if you dont use the efigies xd
Bro did this shit to himself
I’m not complaining either
Dying to flexible sentry is insane
He has no upgraded weapons and it's his first time, what are you being an elitist for
Cmon he’s pretty difficult if you aren’t prepared 😭
With 2 estus a +0 broadsword 15adp and 0 lifegems it's really not that insane he struggled lol
@ I guess so there’s just a lot harder bosses in this game like the ancient one
@@LandynZiegler-c5m Ancient one? That's not even a boss in the game
Bro… it’s not that serious 😭 I’m doing fine man
You talking like he played this game before or something, like what.
@davobands Not a bro nor a man. Just saying the difficulty rn is your own fault for ignoring advice about where to go.
Even though I struggled, I think it’s fair to say I’m doing alright ❤️
ds2 is peak
So good
Imo DS3 is the GOAT! Elden Ring, Sekiro, and DS3 the best.
Have funnnn!!!! Lmao
Best part is: If you would come here when you should have then you would not have problems with this boss cuz he is ASS XDDDDDDD
Bro about to get cooked if he doesnt listen to our comments 😂
I mean, yall kinda backseating lmao
Level end and vit
😅
lebron
So the forest of giants is where you find the merchant that sells not only lifegems, but the key to the smith as well, she’s at the second bonfire. Theres also an npc that gives you the key to the manor at the back of majula. Theres a skeleton in the basement that always drops a human effigy that brings your health back to full so you can maintain full health indefinitely.
Good job going through the area, however you seem to be going through the adjustment period of this game after getting used to what came before and after it so some things to keep in mind:
•This game punishes running past all of the enemies more than any other game, doable, but they take it personally
• you passed the torches of the area which would have made it easier to see and there are more areas like this. The torch in general is more important and some secrets require having it lit. You can lit it on the bonfire
• if they’re in water they take extra lightning damage, if they get covered in oil same for fire damage, explosive barrels can sometimes open shortcuts. The game doesnt tell you these things, but it does have subtle gimmicks and logic that reward the player. Its a big part of the appeal
• expect to take damage, even if its chip damage its less a game about beating it hitless as using strategy and spacing to work around it.
