In this video I'll share my initial impression of the Gazelle Tents G5 Gazebo. I discuss the pros and cons, as well as my experience using it while camping.
Love gazelle products. I own 3, T4 Overland, G6 Cool Top, and G5. Great customer service, quality material, and ease of use are high pros. My only con so far is the G5 leaks too much around the interior seam. All the way around. Enough that a roll of paper towels sitting on a table was ruined (soaked up drips overnight while raining). This gear must be seam sealed. BUT ...I would still recommend. I put a Little Buddy heater in here, drop one of the panels (sold separately) down half way (love this option using the velcro strips) and its perfect for winter camping in the south. You don't pull the top down from inside. You hit the top from the outside to collaspe. One fast punch downward. Per Gazelle support. I struggled with this and reached out. They sent me a video.
Ive had the G6 model for 4 years now.. by far the best quality screened in camping gazebo I have ever seen. And, for its size, its so damn easy to put up and take down.
Easy to put up and take down, as 1 person? Also, how many seasons can you use your gazebo in? Does it bode well with semi-strong winds during unexpected thunderstorms? Not counting any severe thunderstorms. 😬🫠 I really like these, just because of the ability to stand straight up and walk around. I also like that this can be a tent and also a porch hybrid at the same time. I'd want to be covered and protected from the harsher elements, such as summer heat and cooler dips in the early spring and fall seasons. And this product seems overall durable, enough in quality, to be able to do at least 3 seasons at the very least.
I snagged an Ebay deal from Gazelle a few months ago and just opened it up for the first time today. I found it quite easy to set up and I think its a great shelter. We'll use it next week when we take our first RV trip of the season. Your video was one of the videos that convinced me to buy one, so thanks!
Thank you for your honest review. Touched on a couple of things that I was concerned about, such as flooring and the effectiveness of the wind panels. So it seems like this would be a perfect size for one per person plus a dog. I also wish that it had a loop at the top… Not just for packing out but to hang a small, lightweight lamp.
I have a G6. Durable as heck. Dropped it while going over 75 mph and only sustained a small hole which I easily patched up. Leaked at first but after a while of use I’m guessing the seams itself sealed. Maybe you gotta season it. Cons: I know is that it gets really freaking hot inside even during the night. Worse in the day when the sun hits, it turns into a sauna. Also, trying to pop the top up is hard. You need some weight or have someone hold the sides down.
@dsrcvideos Id definitely recommend staking it down. The ropes to tie down the walls are important because a strong gust of wind can cause them to collapse.
I got my G5 today. When I set it up, it wasn’t possible to pop up the top until I put a couple stakes in the ground to hold it down. The top was really tight.
I bought a clam shelter and it was junk. The poles came out of its sleeves and the mechanism jammed up. It look like the poles was going to go through the screen. Have you seen any problems with yours shelter? Thank you for this video. I also have a G4 tent, love it.
I've been wanting to purchase this g5 gazebo for my home patio. Do you think it would be okay to set it up in a place with no grass? There's no grass in my patio. I was thinking I could use a few bricks to keep it held down. I'm totally afraid of bugs..flying bugs..etc..this is why I want to set up a tent so I can enjoy my patio. Thank you❤
Before my comments, I'm curious to know if you were sponsored by the manufacturer for this product video? There are a few clarifications that should be mentioned which directly contradict your opinions of this product. First, you state that it can be used as a tent. No, it's design and purpose has never been for use as a tent. The reasons are many; it cannot block wind, it leaks like an open faucet when raining. The roof cannot support snow loads. The 'flooring' is a design disaster because it will funnel any rain water to inside the gazebo. Under no circumstance, can this product be used as a 'tent' nor can it be expected to protect you from the elements (heat/cold/rain/snow). If it isn't clear already, this product is simply a place to sit outdoors to keep the flies and mosquitoes at bay while eating food during normal temperatures and zero precipitation. If it's hot outdoors, this becomes an instant sauna! It is is cold outdoors, this offers no protection or comfort. Finally, there are many UA-cam videos stating how easily the wind, especially during a storm, can pick this up and make it fly like a kite. Even with the including ground stakes used, it will fly away. I've owned this one, and two from another brand. These issues apply to most of the gazebo-style 'shelters' available.
I just used mine on safari for almost two months as a tent. I bought the additional wind panels and the flooring. I used it like a yurt and it slept two cots comfortably.

Great info. Thanks again. Planning to get one for Southern Utah trips. Sometimes with wife. Too many tiny flies in afternoon/evenings.
We wish we had this gazebo over the summer in Colorado because of how buggy it was lol
Great review! I definitely can’t wait to use mine on our upcoming trip and showcase the walls cause it might get windy up on the mountains 😂
Oh yeah, definitely!
great product glad i got to use it with you!

I agree about the loop to hang a lamp. That would be perfect!

when taking down you can push the top in as you do the sides
Good demo! Have you seen any reviews when it’s windy outside???

Thats interesting. I haven't had that experience. I wonder why that happened.
Did you get the G5 with the TriTech mesh?

And....on a video by Gazelle, you can lower the roof by just pushing down on one of the roof poles while standing outside of the shelter!
Did you find any critters or mosquitoes coming under the tent? Thanks
Has anyone used this just as a tent?
@12:50 tell your buddies to get off their darn phones. It's the outdoors!
🤣🤣🤣 no argument here!

I guarantee you this CAN be used as a tent. Lol
