I just had to mention this. I just printed something that I've printed before where I could feel the "random" seam bits all along the sides. I ran the print again, but with your Scarf settings and I can't believe it! The sides are like glass! Zero bits anywhere. Inside and out! Thanks so much for this tip and explaining it so perfectly.
Nice! I'm glad this video helped out! Recently I did a print with a shaft that that turns inside of a cylinder. I forgot to use my scarf seams so now as the shaft turns, I get a little bit of sticking where the z-seam from the shaft and cylinder meet. I got me wondering how it would've been affected with the seam at random. I'm guessing a lot more sticking? That scarf seam is great for appearance and mechanical movement! Thanks for the comment & thanks for watching!!!
@@pushingplastic7445 So here's something.... sigh... I don't know if this is a bug in CrealPrint 5.1.14 or something I may have done... which I doubt... So when something prints so nicely, I "save as project" so as to retain all the settings. So today, I need to print a 2nd copy of this for the other printer. I find the project file and open it! Only to find that not only are the object not there, but none of the settings change to what I had set (scarf stuff)! I had never ever had this kind of issue with Cura, so I don't know if it's a bug or not. So now, I'm going through your vid one more time, setting the numbers up again, but not only re-saving the project, but taking note in a spread sheet of these settings. I'm curious, have you ever seen this kind of bug in CP 5.1.xx?
Yup, found another bug! So I got all my settings entered so I clicked on the little "disk" icon to "save as" (process area) and saved it. When it returned from save, the stupid settings reverted to what they were before! So, I set them again, went to save as again, but just double click on the profile I just changed. This time, it saved it properly. I really like CP 5.1.xx, but the bugs have to be fixed for sure. Without someone like you guiding, I would have never discovered this at this level.
*Subbed!* It's very interesting how this feature can actually change the color and texture of the print. I was surprised by that, but then, I guess, it has to do with temperature at certain speeds and such. I was testing some PETG that I had, first, I had to dry it! Then I tested at different temps and speeds. I was surprised at the vast difference in how the final finish looked. I did the same with some Silk PLA I had laying around, including some that the package was never opened. I wanted shiny and good layers. I first printed very hot (235C I think it was) and the finish was dull. I lowered the temp and the finish was then very shiny. This is a great channel! It's good to learn from those with experience AND that's using the same slicer. It leaves little to no guesswork. Thanks for this. Now... if ONLY we can get him to share those STL for those nice vases. LOL 😉😜
I get those vases from STLFlix.com. It's a subscription service. I bought their lifetime membership last year on a whim. Woohoo, trying to use videos from 4 and most of the menus have moved and things have been renamed 😢 your content is a blessing. Finally, id like to pick your brain if I may; printing PETG (K1 Max), trying to get rid of minor gaps on the surface of the print between lines. I've tried retuning the feed rate, changing speed, and ironing (just me, or does this not work on petg? Completely trashed the surface). Trying to follow 3 year old reddit threads for different slicers and just feeling like im not getting anywhere, im hoping you may have a video i can watch or advise i coule try. @@pushingplastic7445 Please add me to the list of appreciative people because you are showing us CP 5.1x. I only got my Ender 3 V3 Plus printers last September and I downloaded the CP slicer, not having a clue how to use that version. I come from a Cura background (Marlin) and from some vids I had seen, I thought that CP would be more familiar. I was wrong. Ver. 4x is closer to Cura and from what I understand, CP 5.1x is closer to Orca. Someone suggested that I try Orca, but that was a disaster. It just crashed randomly for no logical reason. And that was on a fresh install of Windows 10! Apparently, lots of people report crashes. So I stuck with CP 5.1.4 and I'm glad that I did. Sure, there are some bugs but so far, only one that locks it up and required an "end task". At least, when re-launching, it can restore where it left off. So again, thanks for your focus on CP 5.1.x

hi! interesting video. i am trying to take out the seam scarf of my chess printings, because it has circle shape and movement, currently i am using the parameter "seam" = random, so the the printings dont have a vertical line, but they have the points randomly in every surface, so I would to get a cleaner piece than my results. Any help I would preciate a lot
I set my seam to aligned and apply a scarf seam as described in the video. Some of the settings may change depending on the amount of detail. I usually adjust by doing a little experimenting with the settings.
OHHHHHH!!!!!!! I had not clicked into that! I always use random too. I was getting some little 'points" throughout, but I didn't click in that it could be the random points! I was assuming that it was the filament not being so good. I also didn't click into the obvious when I did a couple of really nice vases in vase mode and there were not points. They printed so smoothly, shiny and super clean. That was a DUH moment, since vase mode prints in one shot, never creating layers that need to be connected, but rather, just one long "layer" as it were. LOL Now I'm going to go through this vid one more time, making notes as to things to try with the scarf. I need to find a balance where there are no points (or less noticeable) and an excellent finish. I do always print at 0.1 (sometimes at 0.08 for the smoothest finish).
well use a slicing system that avoids doing that seam, ie more continuous layers, no sudden stops, or at least the stops are not in the same place every time. yep just loop around would be the human choice. if you have more print heads than one, you automatically have to take account more stuff than just one nozzle making non-optimal choices. because it can.
