    I seriously don't get the point of this question. You print what you need, the way you need it to be printed. If a fast print doesn't work then it doesn't work and you print it for quality so it does work. A small container for screws works just as well if the surface is rough as when it is smooth so in that case it's up to you to decide what you want. There is no golden rule here, just requirements for the print and personal preference.

      In the upper right corner of Creality Print, near the "X" to close down the program. There is a little gear icon. Click that and a window will open for more filament profiles. Put check boxes on the ones you want and they'll load up!

    This was awesome! I had no idea about adaptive layers. I am printing out some animals for hubby's Christmas manger project. On the cows and deer, their backs are like the top of your test. Not knowing about adaptive layer, my "solution" was the enable Ironing and set to all top layers. This worked very well and hide the top layers, BUT with a downside. I'm using this really nice, very shiny "Copper" PLA filament. It's shiny like a mirror (almost). BUT, when it gets to the ironing, while it hides the layers very well, it also causes the shine to be gone (or reduced a lot). So now, those top is obviously "different." I do print at 0.08 and that was the "minimum" that the slicer would allow.... UNTIL I saw how you are able to actually change the minimum! This is the best video! Thanks so much.

    I got 2, Ender 3 V3 Plus printers last Sept. I come from a Cura background, so CP5 seemed to be a major change for me. But, I stuck with it and now, I really like CP5! I don't need to use anything else as my prints are the most gorgeous I've ever had. My old Wanhao Duplicator 9 MK2, 400 could never come close to the quality of the 3 V3 Plus. I'm using 5.1.4. I tried the current upgrade, 5.1.6 (I think it is) but quickly uninstalled it and am sticking with 5.1.4 The reason is, as a programmer, I really get annoyed when developers make decisions that many may not like. It may seem like a small thing, but now, the newest version, when you go to Project Save As, now defaults to 3mf instead of the Creality project extension. I tried to provide some logic on this, but that fell on deaf ears. For those who still use Cura for other machines and the default project is 3mf, may want to keep Creality Print with their own extension. This way, we can have Windows types set to launch Cura for .3mf and launch CP5 for their extension. But the devs just refuse to see that logic. It's just a pain that they didn't t least provide an option in Settings to choose the default project extension that we want. So, I stick with 5.1.4 and there are no issues. It just works. Sure, there's a few bugs, but I know how to get around those. No problems.

    Nice video. Ive just bought a Creality k1c and started slicing with creality print 5.1. People have been telling me to use orca instead as they say its better? I find the interface of creality print a little easier for me and comparing print times creality print is always faster. what are your thoughts and preferences on the two programs?

    • @pushingplastic7445
      @pushingplastic7445 День тому

      I use Orca slicer, a lot! I also use Cura, Bambu Studio & of course Creality Print. Orca slicer & Creality Print are very similar since they are both based off of the same program. In the past. like years ago, Creality Slicer (not print) was pretty bad but Creality has really stepped up the game with their slicer. Creality Print printer & material profiles are tuned for their printers and Creality Print has a new slicing algorithm making printing a bit faster and smoother. The next time someone tells you that Orca (or another slicer), is better than Creality Print, ask them what makes the other slicer better. They won't be able to answer mostly because they haven't trieed Creality Print and are simply repeating things they've heard. Creality Print is a good slicer and if you find the interface easier, then just ignore what the others tell you! Sorry for the long response! Thanks for watching!

    • @dg5433
      @dg5433 8 годин тому

      @@pushingplastic7445 Thanks for the reply. As a beginner Ive learnt so much from your videos! The persons reason for recommending Orca was for the variable infill function. But once I saw your video showing the same function in Creality print I then realized they were very similar and for me using the K1C I too came to the conclusion that Creality print must be more fine tuned to suit. Just thought Id ask the question to see if the was some other functions I was missing. Thanks again

    I haven't found a way to use modifiers to change my layer height. I print parts that have a handle and a head. The head needs a 0.1 layer height, and I have to print the entire handle using a 0.1 layer height just because of 4 mm of the head. Can it be done? By the way, your tutorials are excellent. Thanks, they always help me.

    • @pushingplastic7445
      @pushingplastic7445 День тому

      Good question. Unfortunately, you can change the line width using a modifier but not the layer height. Hopefully changes in the future will allow this. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!

    Hi Bill, can you do a setting tutorial on infill? I just started using Creality 5.1 (just got the hang of cura) but now my nozzle scrapes through the infill, leaving nozzle "trenches", I did try playing around with Z hop but there are now on the filament profile z settings and on the infill😅

    • @pushingplastic7445
      @pushingplastic7445 2 дні тому

      Will do! Putting it on the list right now! I have heard of people that were using grid infill would hear the nozzle drag on the infill. Switching this to Gyroid has solved the problem for them. Out of curiosity, what infill type are you using and does it happen with all infill types?

  • @rtlofishing

    Using your math why did the z come out to 400. What was calculated differently

    • @pushingplastic7445
      @pushingplastic7445 2 дні тому

      At 4:15 in the video the formula should read (400 x 40) / 39.88 = 401.2 instead of (80 x 40) / 39.88 = 401.2. There is a note for this in the description

    • @rtlofishing
      @rtlofishing 2 дні тому

      Thank you for the quick reply. I am a newbie printing and still trying to figure a lot of this out so I need to look in my machine and get my base setting first as how yours was reading 80 correct and 400 on the other one and you multiply that times 40 which is the 40 mm of the cube correct And I rewatch the video several times looking at how you were measuring the block and it looked like you measured the same axis twice. I will go back and rewatch things again.

    Good video, thanks. How did you determine the scarf seam parameters that you used? Hard to believe you just randomly picked the values you used. Was there documentation that you referenced that gave you your starting parameter values? You also didn't cover any of the downsides to using scarf seams like increase material usage and print time. Would be really useful to understand those tradeoffs when trying to decide on whether to use scraf seams. Also what model features can benefit most from using this? Things like circular shapes, overhangs, angled sections, etc.. Would be good to understand how to evaluate an object to better understand what types of features it has that should prompt you to try scarf seams. And is there any correlation between the type of filament used (ie PLA vs PETG vs TPU vs ABS vs ASA, etc.) and the quality of the results you can expect?

      Welcome to the world of 3D Printing. I also have an Ender 3 V3 Se, I love that printer! I've even recommended to friends and family members that were getting into 3D printing. Awesome sign off on the comment as "UK Plastic Pusher"! Love it! Thanks for the comment & thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the video. Where should you set the sliders? And what's the print time impacts to where you place the sliders? When you repeatably hit the SMOOTH button does that move the associated slider? Or does hitting the button just change the layer heights and show in the object diagram? Would be nice to know how much smoothing you've applied with a numerical value. Seems a little odd how the buttons & sliders don't necessarily seem linked.

    At some point, would you consider covering how to make a model water tight (like a vase that will retain water) using CP 5.1.xx and either an Ender 3 V3 (plus or other) ?? Also, if you know for sure, to explain what the repair model option in CP 5 really does. I find your explanations to be top notch. You don't assume that people should know everything. This is awesome! Thanks in advance.

    You just solved my glossy print problem I noticed this weekend. Any joy on the underside of supported prints looking stringy?

    In the "Avoid crossing walls" tooltip it says that leaving it at 0 disables it?

    • @pushingplastic7445
      @pushingplastic7445 17 днів тому

      I noticed that to. I think what they are trying to say is that leaving it at 0 let's the slicer algorithm decide.

    • @pushingplastic7445
      @pushingplastic7445 17 днів тому

      Skips a line? In the z-axis? If the z axis, I would check to make sure that there is no debris on the vertical screw, or look for some interference that might be causing the filament to get hung up when it reaches a particular height. What printer are you using?

      @JayEm16 17 днів тому

      @ yea on the Z. Its so strange, i wish could post a picture but i will try that thank you. Awesome tip video

      @@JayEm16 I had it once on my Ender, the filament was getting snagged. Then it would break free. Another thing to check is the filament spool and make sure that there is no burrs on the inside.

    • @JayEm16
      @JayEm16 17 днів тому

      @ it seems to be happening with polyterra only which isnt as smooth. So going through bowden tube might be snagging it

    • @BlondieHappyGuy
      @BlondieHappyGuy 17 днів тому

      @@JayEm16 You didn't say which printer you had, so I don't know if this will help. But I got 2, Ender 3 V3 Plus printers and on one, I printed out the top rail spool holder, made an extension cable for the runout sensor and mounted it on top. Now, I have the filament on top, going right into the runout sensor and then directly into the extruder. No longer PTFE tube to cause resistance. Since then, the ONLY time I had a layer missed issue is when the particular filament I was using, sort of unwound a bit and snagged itself under its own filament. Once released, the prints go without issue. It would be good to know, specifically which printer you have. No matter which, one test you can do is to feed filament from the spool through the PTFE tube, but just before letting it go into the extruder, you pull the end of it to see if there's a lot of resistance. On my old printer, any resistance would cause this problem. On that printer, I had to take apart the extruder and stretch the spring so that the gear would be pushed tighter against the filament. This worked. ???

    Howdy pard'. So about six months ago you switched from Orca to Creality Print 5? Have you published a video saying why you've swapped ships? I mean absolutely no critique, just curious because I've heard conflicting 'things' regarding Creality Print 5...thanks.

    • @pushingplastic7445
      @pushingplastic7445 18 днів тому

      I have not switched!!! I actually use Orca, Bambu Studio, Creality Print & Cura depending on what Printer I'm using. I find all of them great slicers. A lot of my videos lately have been for Creality Print primarily because there is limited support for Creality Print.
