    Fantastic. You know what's absolutely genius about this tutorial?! It doesn't lose sight of the fact that this is a game ♥️
    It's fun, and it light hearted. It's inviting and doesn't stress about getting it right and knowing everyrhing. It's not put together like an exam prep video that you're going to be tested on afterwards. This looks fun and I can't wait to try Silver Bayonet out!

      Yeeeey, excellent. Yeah having just done my annual hobby room clear/clean out.. in prep for Christmas (I always plan a new `project` for the forthcoming year ahead) I discovered and fell back in love with my half finished Napoleonics, all hidden in a big box I`d all but forgotten about, all unloved and unused in a corner. I knew I wanted to entrench in The Silver Bayonet in some form or another, but it was only when I saw your narrative battle reports, and heard the accents of your 95th, Hakeswell and the rest, that I realised this is EXACTLY what I want to do for myself. So nome New Year, out will come my DVD Sharp series, and out will come my Napoleonics. This is perfect as my wife has bought me Silver Bayonet (and Devilry Afoot) but wont let me have them until Christmas lol.... so perfect timing :-)

    It's been interesting to see how Joseph McCullough changes the rules as he goes. I did hear people complaining that the damage calculation, the difference between two D20, can vary wildly in Frostgrave and Stargrave, and then here Joseph is using 2D10s so similar numbers keeping the system intact but with a nice twist where the damage calculation with Silver Bayonet is always going to be based on just one D10 which is nice. Not to say one game is better than the others, but it's interesting to watch Joseph work with different options.

    • @PeachyTips
      @PeachyTips  6 місяців тому +9

      I fully agree, I’ve seen a lot of criticism with the d20 mechanics, though it hasn’t bothered me that much, I do like the d10 variety

    • @syd4890
      @syd4890 6 місяців тому +1

      Also FG rules writting is "bad" in the sense that he takes paragraphs to describe something simple. As a result, FG is a chuncky messy rulebook when you first start reading it. Later came silver bayonet and he kept his writing a bit more focused which is good. Dont get me wrong, FG is a cool game but the book is a bit of a chore xD

    • @mazikainen
      @mazikainen 6 місяців тому +5

      McCulloughs' games are really rich in narrative which I like, but something about the dice rolling mechanics in his game engine fails to click with me. I'm not sure if the D20 system is as random as people claim, you usually look at the difference between two D20 rolls so you.. should get a normal distribution going, right? There are checks where you just roll D20 and try to beat a target number though. Maybe the shift to a 2D10 system is a way forward.

    • @johntailby74
      @johntailby74 6 місяців тому +1

      Joes rules all feature minimal differences between elite units and basic units. If playing these games you have to accept that at any moment your favourite guy can get killed by a thief with a knife.
      If you like D&D where your fighter wades through hordes of goblins, Frostgrave will be a shock. It’s more like Cthulhu where you can get zapped in one shot.

      @@PeachyTips and we see more games starting to do this more and more and it works well. One of my most loved series of games is the Forbidden Psalm series all different enough from each other with themes, stats its a co-op/solo game but my damn it is very good :-) The Last War is part of that series as well "World War Weird" type game.

      Well that’s a funny coincidence that you’d suggest that.
      I may or may not have recently travelled to their premises, and we may or may not have played a game of silver bayonet 👀

    I am putting together a Silver Bayonet adventure, but set in New France during the FIW. As the primary characters will be French, I regret the inability to respond to any and all dangers with "bugger". 😀 Cracking video. Cheers!

    Loved the video. 👍
    Made the rules super easy to understand, and the narrative elements made me laugh. Although that Rifleman Peach cliffhanger....now I'm invested. Will he return at a dramatic moment to save Sharpe? Will he show up as a zombie? *Gasp* Will he join the French? I need to know what happens next. 😂

    Looks like great fun. Currently I'm torn between this and mortal gods. Ash barker has a battle report. It looks like one of the coolest games I've seen. Silver bayonet really has my number too. It's a dilemma.😅

    Fun video! Great looking miniatures! Peachy-Have you considered doing a “Silver Bayonet “ challenge (open to patrons) which lets patrons show off pics of their miniatures, troops ,some battle pictures, and their results from a series of scenarios you design (maybe a Dracula’s castle attack- featuring innovative and cool terrain and assigning point values for certain victory conditions) just an idea to get more patrons into the fun of silver bayonet!

      Yeah the move from a d20 to a d10 is a mechanic I do like a lot, I don’t mind the d20, but it’s great to see Joseph making those little refinements

    I absolutely love that dismounted (15th?) hussar figure at about the 1:45 mark. Is it a conversion? If so, where would be a good place to look for the legs?
    I am very much enjoying your new channel, btw; please keep up the good work.

    • @PeachyTips
      @PeachyTips  6 місяців тому +1

      For this conversion I used a Perry rifleman’s the so the whole torso and legs are a rifleman, just a sneaky paint job to make it look like a hussar

      Those are from Fenris games, under his rubble city range, a bit costly, but well worth it as their super durable and if you dont glue like I’ve done, super modular too
