I find it a bit insulting.... So night lords and iron warriors have to share black legion and world bearer corruption overdrive because that's chaos now.....but the EC don't. Instead they have more HH armour bits which is such a modern GW trope that AFTER HH made bank than it's takes over the whole chaos faction but not the model line....just narrative and the specialist legion's.
@@sirderik Too be fair, in the books the Chaos legions are, for the most part, still using their original HH armor. Some people can get it upgraded, like Fabius and others, but from what I've read, it's all the same. They don't call them "Veterans of the Long War" for nothing.
Lore wise, it would make sense that noise marines are not the Emperor's Children main battleline troops but rather are specialized troops with special weaponry. This is very unlike the other three legions which have their unique space marine infantry (Rubrics for Thousand Sons, plague marines for Death Guard, and Khorne Berzerkers for World Eaters) as their main battleline troops. With Thousand Sons, Death Guard, and World Eaters, the majority of their legionaries are these unique troops while for the Emperor's Children, the noise marines act as special weapons squads while the basic Emperor's Children legionaries are basically regular legionaries on space crack.
I mean it makes sense when you read books like the Fabius Bile trilogy where you see a Noise Marine named Ramos, Bull of the 8th nearly shatter a craftworld by himself, turn a Dark Eldar Archon to paste with a flick of his hand and was famous for breaking the Luna Gate during the Heresy. Noise Marines are insanely powerful, not something a rubric, plague marine or random berserker could hope to take on.
As a world eaters player, I am going to be severely disappointed if they don't drop the rest of the world eater range. Especially with the Ec coming out with only half of their army as well.
If they implement the demon codex units into the CSM God factions - it actually makes a Lot of sense to have smaller world eater/emperors children rosters.
DG only got so much at once compared to other cult legions because they were a starter faction of 8th, those always get double release wave+ treatment. Hence why in 9th and 10th DG only get characters, they are on break period until their turn probably in 11th or even 12th.

As a long-term CSM main, thank fuck EC finally got their own codex. Over the last few editions, they've been incredibly dominant within CSM, while running skew fringe lists, throwing the codex's internal balance into relative disarray over 8th and 9th edition. I cannot express just how happy I am to finally have my army and collection balanced around itself, rather than a fringe subfaction. I genuinely believe that this will dramatically improve the health and balance of Codex Chaos Marines. Nothing will ever allow me to forgive the 9e days of GW leaving CSM at a holistic sub-40% winrate, just becauase EC alone were able to push into GW's healthy winrate range, preventing general CSM lists from receiving needed buffs for YEARS at a time. There's a part of me that genuinely wants this faction to rot with half an army roster for years in return, if I'm being totally honest, due to the damage that EC has done to CSM's internal balance over the last 5 years.
It’s a bit upsetting that GW seem to have abandoned the imperial knight codex, which was meant to be after Eldar. I know that delays happen but they could at least let us know instead of hoping we didn’t notice.
its nice to see emperor's children finally have a model range but i feel betrayed not seeing any imperial knight related stuff be mentioned not even an explanation as to why they didnt announce any imperial knights
Deductive reasoning means sometime between February and April depending on if IK are next or they got pushed back meaning Aeldari are next making EC 3rd week of March. Typical 3 weeks in between preorder announcements so I would expect an announcement of the next codex 3 weeks from Sunday
Okay, dig those Flawless Blades a lot. I dont' really have any use for them myself but, those are cool. I love how they decided their armor didn't really need to cover everything. "Check this out... 666 pack." It's just... so very Slaanesh.
As a big fan of the Minka Lesk books, I popped pretty hard when I saw her fantastic command squad set. Especially because I had been legitimately confused why she didn't have a sheet in the Imperial Guard codex considering how much she has been featured in books. Also that Salamander reveal is... Surprising? Not bad, but hard to figure out what it means.
Command squad is cool, lot of the units are nice variations but why Minka again? We had her 3 years ago as a celebration and even this newer model is straight to legends. GW loves to sell Cain on made to order but hates the idea of him and Jurgen having some models.
I got 2 minor problems. Not the biggest fans of the baseline troops but I can see how those will help the noise marines shine as huge damage dealers. However, I may enjor the emperors children a bit more once we see better paint schemes. I'm not huge on color scheme shown here. I LOVE that we can bring slaanesh daemons tho
The only disappointment (aside from the EC Combat Patrol not having the faction's most iconic unit): the apparently absence of any reveal trailer where the EC refresh is set to D-Rok's "Noise Marines". FFS, James Workshop, you get one Noise Marines revamp every ten to twenty years. How could you NOT set it to a classic from your history? You had one job!
Ik the focus is on primarchs but I feel like if they are rolling daemons into these codex’s they should change some of the names like blades of khorne is good and maybe death guard but the other 2 don’t seem to really capture the essence of tzeentch or slaneesh…coming from a DoT AoS pov
These look amazing and for some reason the proportions on the regular marines is much better than the other csm? Finally they look good! And I love that they are not overly mutated, just perfection.
On the Tormentors, I think the guy with the Icon is just an icon bearer. Looking closely at the squad, you can see that one of the tasseled helm guys has the same chest with the studs and tilting plate equivalent as well as the stim injector pack as the Infractor Champion. This makes me the he might be the actual Champion, but time will tell. At first glance, I thought the new Noise Marines might be sold the same way as Eradicators, Bladeguard, Sanguinary Guard, Eight Bound, Deathshroud, or the IC Companions (3 per box). But on trying to compare the sculpts, there don’t appear to be any duplicate poses. 😮So maybe they will be sold in a box of 6, and not have the option to increase their squad size at all.
Uh, okay. Everything I've read about EC lead me to believe that the children of excess would be ostentatious, dripped out glamrock peacocks that offend the senses-kind of like how Lucius is wearing both high heels and a corset-but the rest of these models basically look as if Hedonites of Slaanesh had their way with Horus Heresy starter set marines. They didn't even make the trim pop.
ALL the Chaos armies need a metric gakton of love at this point - even CSM's are barely half a faction if you don't want the stinky Mortal units which honestly belong in a proper 'Lost and the Damned' codex anyways! - CSM's *need* units for each of the major Legions ala the Night Lords specialists... a new kit for 'Renegade Astartes' to represent more 'modern' traitors, etc... - 1kSons *need* a CC unit like Rubrics w/dual khopesh, Psyker dreadnought, Aspiring Sorcerer Disc Rider unit, plus the rumored Automatons, etc... (no more fething bird-goats!!) - WE's *need* Butcher Surgeons, a god-damned basic Chaos Lord option!! Red Butcher Termies, Teeth of Khorne, a crazy-bonkers 'gladiatorial styled' unit, some Khornate daemon engines, where's my damn Vindicator GW!?! - DG *need* some infantry heavy weapon squads, a proper kit for their Sorcerers, more Plague-infested daemon engines, a Plague Dreadnought... But nope, we get Daemons showhorned in, and GW's typically lazy rules writing will mean that nothing works interchangably, so we'll still be super limited in our list building because we'll now be 2 'mini-armies' where half our codex won't have rules support within our detachments! >.
Emperors Children release is beyond any of my expectations. Well done GW this is 10/10 work right here. I’m calling it now though - Thousand Sons release is going to keep our army rule that limits unit selection, while they just throw Tzeentch daemons at us and call it good. Those daemons however will not generate cabal points
They're doing the same thing to WE's as well... we'll just get all the Khorne Daemons, nothing will work all that well together, and we'll still be forced to run the same boring Angry-Ron + 8Bound spam lists we've been pigeonholed into since GW so badly fethed up our 9th edition release It's almost as if trying to make a full "faction" out of just 3 units is a really stupid idea?! >.>
I'm not disappointed, there's quite a bit here and it's about what I was expecting. However, I was kinda hoping they would be closer to the Death Guard, with daemon engines, unique terminators, and mortal cultist elements as well. Feels like GW is always purposefully holding back the monogod legions from really getting fully fleshed out.
As a long time Emperor's Children fan I am certainly excited for the new minis, The Lord Exultant looks especially perfect, though I am disappointed in the noise marines oddly, I feel as though the poses just make them look like marines with big guns when you can do so much more with sound weapons.
Surprised you didn't mention the Old World roadmap. The "blank space" indicating a secret future reveal is from a piece of Total Warhammer 3 artwork featuring the armies of Cathay, and you can see the silhouette of one of their mountain fortresses in the distant background
@@OniGanon I'm a little surprised as well. But it makes sense that they'd want to convert TW 3 players with nostalgia into new or returning customers with a big new faction release.
@@OniGanon Cathay was teased right from day one of the Old World/Classic Warhammer Fantasy news drop from like 5 years ago... When Old World dropped last year, the Devs basically all but said outright that they plan to eventually bring back every army from Warhammer Fantasy, plus add some new ones, (Kislev + Cathay), but this time they're doing it based around specific eras within the setting. So for example, there's no Skaven "officially" right now because during the Time of the Three Emperors, the Skaven are currently embroiled in their Second Great Civil War in the Underempire... meanwhile, there's no Vampire Counts since the Von Carstien's are still rebuilding their power, and we're still a couple hundred years before the Great War Against Chaos, hence no Daemons...
The EC is a nothing release for those of us who collect the army already. I already have CSM with melee weapons, CSM with boltguns, Noise Marines, and Lord with melee weapon. The only actually "new" stuff is the Noise Lord and the Palantines. At least we get beaky helmets. That is cool, right?
At least your Aspiring Champions still remember how to use power weapons and power fists... My World Eaters got reduced to plasma pistols as the only wargear upgrade option in our entire army!!

I was hoping to get the release date for the Aeldari and their content of their army box since they are the next codex.
Deductive reasoning means sometime between February and April depending on if IK are next or they got pushed back meaning Aeldari are next making EC 3rd week of March.
Typical 3 weeks in between preorder announcements so I would expect an announcement of the next codex 3 weeks from Sunday
I think I also spotted a new Chaos Sorceror off to the left of Fulgrim in the big photo preview
Okay, dig those Flawless Blades a lot. I dont' really have any use for them myself but, those are cool. I love how they decided their armor didn't really need to cover everything. "Check this out... 666 pack."
It's just... so very Slaanesh.
From what I understand, the command squad is just a squad of alt models no?
@@ZaZi-Zeta01 Oh, it is and I would have preferred to get that special character. But at least we got the models.
As a lover of ashe waste nomads and EC this reveal show got me very excited.
Like that Minka command squad!
Just GW paying homage to DEI. Nobody was asking for that set.
Command squad is cool, lot of the units are nice variations but why Minka again? We had her 3 years ago as a celebration and even this newer model is straight to legends. GW loves to sell Cain on made to order but hates the idea of him and Jurgen having some models.
They are PERFECT - So much better than I expected
The Calix is for Horus Heresy, but if it should appear in 40K I think it would fit nicely into Cohort Cybernetica for AdMech
Just gotta' bust out the 30k scheme like they have on the Aeldari cover art
As a blood angels player it physically hurts everytime they show new and beautiful models knowing what they could have done with the refresh
I usually went "faction here" and "faction here" in 40k but now I can say that Iam ready to hear the song of Slaneesh and finally start an army
These look amazing and for some reason the proportions on the regular marines is much better than the other csm? Finally they look good! And I love that they are not overly mutated, just perfection.
They did get a 7th detatchment with the Legion of Excess.
But considering it is 2 armies in one codex it is not that excessive ;).
The new emperor's children look amazing and the new DG model is looking amazing as well.
Chaos is getting love.
Sorry Imperial Knights, they teased you.
Fulgrim being better in one v one combat than Angron is absolutely stupid.
New model power for a big bad. Well other than poor vashtor who got shafted more than Elon does trump these days
Fulgrim was always a better duelist
I think the image on the far right is the dark Mechanicus because there’s a mauler fiend in the background and knights can’t field them (yet maybe)
I don't think it's a maulerfiend. It likes like a wardog knight literally pouncing on someone, FNaF style
8:10 Auspex working on some standup material I see 😂
They didn't even make the trim pop.
ngl I though I would absolutely hate the crop top power armour.. but they fit the theme so well.
Lucius in high heel hoofs? Haha. Plus zoom in on the champions of slaanesh box. You will see some type of daemonette in armour?
Where Red Butcher and Juggernaut rider for my World eaters?
Why more Deathguard they have enough Characters...
(no more fething bird-goats!!)
- WE's *need* Butcher Surgeons, a god-damned basic Chaos Lord option!!
But nope, we get Daemons showhorned in, and GW's typically lazy rules writing will mean that nothing works interchangably, so we'll still be super limited in our list building because we'll now be 2 'mini-armies' where half our codex won't have rules support within our detachments! >.
Damn they look like they're gonna be strong. Armywide advance/fallback and charge, did i hear that right? Time for chaos baby!
oh so that's where all the 40k talent went! those EC look spectacular, I like the Death Guard boy, but ... does Lesk look kind of Eldar?
Emperors Children release is beyond any of my expectations. Well done GW this is 10/10 work right here.
I’m calling it now though - Thousand Sons release is going to keep our army rule that limits unit selection, while they just throw Tzeentch daemons at us and call it good. Those daemons however will not generate cabal points
They're doing the same thing to WE's as well... we'll just get all the Khorne Daemons, nothing will work all that well together, and we'll still be forced to run the same boring Angry-Ron + 8Bound spam lists we've been pigeonholed into since GW so badly fethed up our 9th edition release
It's almost as if trying to make a full "faction" out of just 3 units is a really stupid idea?!
Really? They're bringing in a whole new model line to The Old World? A faction with no nostalgia in the nostalgia bait game. Hope it's successful.
Things are about to get LOUD
THIS SILENCE DISPLEASES SLAANESH!!!
The EC models are flawless but I cant get the image of conehead out of my mind.
One of the presenters confirmed that deamons will be now the part of new EC/TS/WE/DG codexes.
That EC box looks sick 🐍🐍🐍
So, thousand sons better get 9 Detachments when we get our codex then, if we're doing deity numbers.
I’d quite like a teleporting Cult of Duplicity similar to ninth…
8 for tzaangor lists no doubt (puke)
Great looking sculpts.
Did Death Guard NEED another character unit? No. Do I WANT that character for my Death Guard army and going to paint the hell out of it? Yes.
@drunkenastarte5243 Yeah, that is actually kind of nice for the wallet. My entire army change amounts to an upgrade sprue so there is no need to buy any of this.
You do realize that the boxes with codex aren't meant for existing players? 😅😅
Congratulations on being one of 6 EC players using normal CSM with an individual unit. Want a cookie?
Clever, making the most desirable miniatures in the range (Noise Marines) an elite 6-model unit. That'll likely quintouple sales on them.
They are squads of 6
@@MisterGrittle Acknowledged! I think the point stands, but I hear you.
Grandpa Nurgle brought us a gift!
this zombie dragon is so nice!!!
"New cadian command sqiad to go with the hells last book"
Me: looks at my Cadian 101st Hells Last army
"Aw dang it"
UUUUUGGGHHH DAEMONS IN THE CODEX IS SO LAAAAAAAMMME
Models look sick as hell
Flawless Bladess also have dual swords and more visual options which were only shown in video portion, they should have put pictures on WH community site, same with Lord Kakophinist options and regular squads of EC.
I'm not a fan of space marines in general, I only collect the tanks and whatnot, as little as I can.
But I'm super excited for Emperor's Children players! Those look like some great sculpts and a new codex too is very exciting!
Salamanders codex is rather unexpected
I think it will be new models not a codex
@@peters6345 New models would be nice!
Am I crazy, or do the noise marines look almost primaris? I’m mainly seeing it in their collars and knees
Yeah I suppose but havoks also have a more bulky look too
I genuinely was thinking Mk VI more than Primaris - especially when next to the 30k models
@@joevines3428 ah never noticed them (despite having 2 units of them )
I think the models look amazing, but this is a rare case where they are brought down by the paint job. Very unusual for GW
