Why Don't My Dates Sort Correctly? | Excel Dates Won't Sort - Oldest to Newest or Newest to Oldest

In this video I look at why dates won't sort correctly. Dates won't sort correctly when they are stored as text. The first indication that you are in trouble is when Excel offers to sort dates as A to Z or Z to A.
The solution is to convert dates to numeric values and this can be done using Text to Columns.

Ive done all of the steps but when I select finish not all of my dates shift to the right hand side and I still cannot order them. What can I do then?

How can we turn 19th century dates into date format? I understand all dates are stored in relation to 1/1/1900 but I’m storing older stuff for a history project. Any advice gratefully received
