Lost my husband Nov 30, 2016. He was only 47 and we were just starting our empty nester life. 😢So, like you, I find the first weeks of a new season a trigger for grief as well as the long, cold darkness of winter in Michigan. But it sure gives me a great appreciation for spring and summer and I try not to miss a single moment. Smell every flower, see every color and feel the rebirth and hope in the air. ❤️☮️
Wow that's so cool you got to go to France Anna. That footage was so beautiful. I can definitely see the influence on your garden and in cottage style 😁🫶🏽✨ It's wild that you got a blizzard at this time of the year. I appreciate you showing us the process of how to start the seeds. Georgie was cutest eating her treats haha. Have a blessed one!
Do you have a sister on UA-cam? I’ve not found many people that have a hard time at season changes It’s definitely my hardest times. I see my mom in every flower and my grandma in every bird. I’m lucky. I’m so sorry for your loss. Just keep going. ❤️ ☀️ 🌸
My soul needed this. I’m so happy you linked this channel from your Reiki one. We just moved to zone 5b and I’m struggling hard without my old flower beds and trees. This was just lovely. I wish we were friends. ❤
From someone who never gets snow ... it looked magical to me. Love your little house. Wanted to reach in and put a copper kettle on your stove and cutting boards behind it. Seems like it would fit the feel of your home.
Hey, I roll my own pots with a wooden paper pot maker. Using newspaper, it's a little wooden paper pot press. It takes about 30 seconds to make one, maybe 15-20 minutes to make a tray. Just google paper pot press or wooden paper pot maker or something like that. They're usually about $15.
You are just so cute. 😁 I collect my "trash" all year to start my seeds in. This year I also made "planters" out of news paper. I´m not totaly sold on them though. I find they get so dry so fast. My seedlings are begging to get out in the garden - but it is so cold again. I need to start them later next year! 😅 Spring is coming! You will see! And I´m so happy you like Dainty Diaries. What I also enjoyed lately is TS Garden Story. Hugs from Germany
Can't tell you how much this video lifted my spirits today. I live in a long winter/short growing season area too, and nothing is worse than false spring followed by a blanket of snow 😭😆. I would love a tour of your seedling station! I am still trying to figure out the best way to start my seeds inside since I don't have a south facing window. Side note, the very best seed trays I have ever had were mini versions of the coco coir pots you had. It was like the typical plastic seedling tray, but it was made out of the coco coir instead. Those seedlings did amazing. I haven't been able to find it since 😭.
Anna I have a suggestion when cold stratification is required it's done in the refrigerator not the freezer and it's generally for one to three months just above freezing in a bag with slightly most potting soil. You should be able to save those seeds if you take them out soon. I love hearing you talk with your regular voice I'm somehow always a bit shocked because I'm so used to "Reiki You" thanks for sharing your home with us! 🌱
Great arrangement! Beautiful to see what zone 5 has to offer! Moving to NH from TX soon and CANT wait. Love your creative expression with the arrangements. It’s inspiring me to be more creative.
Anna, I so enjoyed this vlog. Your flower arrangement was absolutely beautiful! You - and your husband - would LOVE Bouquets to Art in San Francisco. It is held at the deYoung Museum in Golden Gate Park, this year from June 4-9. Individuals, florists, garden clubs, etc., choose a piece of art or sculpture from the exhibits within the museum and imaginatively recreate them in the form of a floral arrangement. Some interpretations are quite literal, while others are abstract, but all are amazing to behold. It’s always interesting to see those cases where a painting, for example, is interpreted one way one year, and the same painting is interpreted completely differently the next year. You should definitely Google Bouquets to Art SF to view some of the images online. ❤
I think the beginning of winter, especially somewhere snowy, can be exciting and even romantic, but the constant cold and longer hours of darkness must take it's toll and can become a little taxing on the mind and body. Even quite depressing at times if there's little to no let up in the storms, rain, snow, and/or cold winds. You deserve to do whatever you feel you want or need to do to keep your spirits up and stay healthy. I now live in Queensland Australia where there's little difference between seasons, which can be a little boring, but the very hot, humid summers here can be very oppressive. Humans seem to be very resilient and adaptive though, don't you think?
All I have right now sprouted are my peppers and a MryJn. Dang raccoons stole my peanuts I had left out in a pot one night. Raccoons make it hard to garden here. Get em to sprout inside and then .... Have watched your older gardening videos, will most likely enjoy this one too. Make sure you prepare for hyperinflation. I majored in econ/polsci and Biden is doing everything he can to fan inflation. I would have gotten an air dryer or more preserving equipment rather than gone to France, lol, but that's just me. Get a 1000 watts of off grid power too. A few batteries, an inverter, a few panels and a turbine if you have wind too; hopefully you have plenty. Plant a lot of garlic, a ridiculous amount of garlic, latter this year and at it everyday. I would garden like crazy this year Anna, I know I wanto plant enough to make a lot of preserves this winter. You heal many people with your Reiki vids, can'hank you enough, 'cept for some advice Peace Love Flowers

Oh I wish I could find some of those coco coir minis. Thanks for the tip, I'll be on the lookout!
This even feels like ASMR.

Anna, if you would link your apron? It is so whimsical and useful. Thank you. Great video!

So excited for spring flowers! I'd avoid touching the foxglove babies, just to be extra safe. I really enjoy following your garden journey :)
