  • Tulips, and Daffodils, and Hyacinths oh my! Spring has officially sprung here in the Northeast, and I couldn't be happier to walk through the garden with you today. Let's stroll around the cottage, and bask in the glory of mid-spring color :)

I live in Wales, UK and we don't really have zones but it looks as if we are afew weeks ahead of you. The iris in our Cottage garden are just opening and our roses are all in bud. We even saw some wild foxgloves in flower today which is early for here. We have had an issue with rats eating all our tulip bulbs whilst they were in flower which has never happened before. I love seeing your beautiful garden develop

It really is so fun to see these beautiful garden tours, Anna - thank you for sharing! I'm in far Northern California, zone 9a and we have been in spring for about a month and a half, and it's already starting to really warm up and feel like summer here!

Between Zones 6-7 down here. Our tulips🌷 have been gone for a few weeks now. Mostly dying back or producing pods... except for the ones whose bulbs have been eaten by voles... who actually sucked the whole plant down their little holes.
Working on managing that now with some garlic 🧄 and jonquil planting.
Irises are just wrapping up blooming as our kniphophia (red hot pokers) and liatris are starting to push up flower stalks.
Flower bed has been losing attention this year though due to multiple fruit tree plantings.

Living in northern Missouri we've had spring for about six weeks now, at least it's been that long since our last hard freeze. I haven't had time to do much gardening but I have some potatoes in and my blackberries are doing better than ever.
There's just nothing quite like playing in the dirt and having something beautiful grow.

I am in northern California zone 10. and spring is here. Everything is blooming and its starting to heat up. Your garden is magical!!! I can't imagine having all that space. Especially loved seeing you sitting at that sweet bistro table in the veggie and tulip garden. What a great spot to garden journal or think of great recipes using your bounty.

Nothing like when the tulips bloom, right? The colors are so rich. I am in central IL, 5b/6a, right on the line, and we seem to go back and forth between Spring and Summer. Spring came at least a month early, and everything happened so fast. Our trees are all leafed out. I already miss the tulips, but we are on to lilacs, iris, and peonies now.

  • @caivail4614
    @caivail4614 20 днів тому

We’re also in the northeast, zone 5b, also on a mountainside, and seem to be just a couple weeks ahead of you. The lilacs just finished their brief but memorable bloom and the tulips have been done for 3 weeks now. The irises are starting to come in and the woodland phlox and bachelor’s buttons are blooming, but the most exciting part of this time is how many buds are on the rose bushes. The anticipation is almost as good as the eruption of color and scent to come!

  • @suzannecontant

Absolutely stunning! The amount of work that has been done...it boggles the mind! I'm in the Midwest and all I have are 3 clumps of daylilies and 3 clumps of hostas. I'm not allowed to plant where I live so what I have came with the house, lol. The house I grew up in had a big garden full of daffodils, hyacinths, iris, tulips, lily of the valley, violas, lilac and forsythia plus a huge blooming tree that made some kind of very tiny cherries that the birds loved. Seeing your garden transports me back to that amazing scent and riot of color that lives in my memories.

I love your garden and your enthusiasm. In NC's Zone 8 roses entered full bloom around the 1st of May, Snapdragons bloomed sporadically all winter and should bloom until July when they slow due to heat. Crocus and, daffodil and tulip bloomed January through March. Azalea bloomed in April, while Lupine and lakrspur are in full bloom right now. Coneflowers buds are set to bloom. Peonies bloomed April and early May. And, we can eat fresh carrots, kale and lettuce year round (we keep lettuce under a row cover to keep it tender. Thank you for sharing your gardens. We love gardening too!

Your garden and the way you are presenting it is so joyful and HAPPY! 💕I pinned some of the tulips you have shown on my pinterest to plant them in my garden comes fall. I´m in Germany and my first roses (Mary rose was first as always) have started to bloom. And I have aquilegia all over the place. I love my garden in May! Oh and I have the same bistro set in a corner of my garden - it´s the first sunny corner in the morning and I love to have my breakfast there - at least on the weekends. I painted mine a pale sage green a few weeks ago. Have a great day! 🌱🐛🌱

We're just coming into winter here in Queensland, Australia. Our temps at the moment are from about 15°C (approx 60°F) to tops of about 26°C (approx 80°F) at the moment. Bugs aren't so much of a problem now, but in summer, the worst garden munchers are grasshoppers. These are affectionately referred to as hoppers or helicopters for the really big ones😂. I don't have the patience to plant annuals or bulbs, but I love a cottage garden, so watching your videos fulfills that interest for me. Also, your enthusiasm inspires me to maintain my garden better.

All your stuff looks amazing, but I'm super wow'd by how well all your tulips came back in the veggie gardens!
Do you just have amazing native soil or have you had to really amend it before planting?
Our main flower bed was just a wall of stacked rocks 🪨 covered with overgrowth, brush, thistle and poison ivy 2 years ago. Everything has been cut back to give a view of the cow pasture, covered with red fill dirt and then dressed with soil conditioner, mushroom compost and mulch. Actually now that I type that, I'm surprised it's done as well as it has so far. 😂

My irises are just getting past their peak in Ohio Zone 6b. The false indigo and columbine are starting to bloom. For your butterfly area, milkweed is a great choice, of course, but also look into monarda, especially wild bergamot. And swallowtails in particular love dill.

Yes! I buy a few from local farmstores and garden centers here, but I buy most of my bulbs from Colorblends. They ship to your area whenever the time is right in your growing zone, so you can order the bulbs anytime and you don't have to worry about storing them until you plant. Hope that helps xoxo
