    UDIC group post on FB sent me here.
    Awesome music, my favorite theme is definitely the Ultima/Title Theme. I heard this first in Ultima5 on the AtariST way, way back... thanks for the video !

      Welcome, Enlightenment Dragon! Great to see a fellow Dragon. (Samson Dragon here) My memory of the Title Track/Ultima theme was hearing it on my Commodore Amiga when it kicked the bucket. Sigh. I should have had an AtariST right? I did not realize the track was also used in the ST Ultima V. Great tidbit! And a big thanks to Dino/Daniel for the FB post. Miss the UDIC community.

      Thank you so much! And Welcome to the channel, Gallara Dragon! It's really great to see fellow UDIC members. Since I see some interest I'll continue putting up Ultima soundtracks in LOTRO.

      @ If you're at all interested, I would be very interested in a surface-level tutorial, just to see how the entire process works

      @@Vox_Verus_Gaming so the instruments are 'programmable' in-game?

    • @Vox_Verus_Gaming
      @Vox_Verus_Gaming  10 днів тому +3

      @@iammichaeldavis Exactly. You convert midi files to abc sheet music, arrange it, assign to various LOTRO instruments, (equip correct instrument) get a band together, sync it up and play away! You can also play instruments using your keyboard. All characters can learn to play any instrument. Minstrels learn all instruments as they level. Minstrels can teach non-minstrels to play an instrument (or make a lesson for them to use) with a 1 week cool down. Pretty neat! Hope that answered your question.

      @ it answered it in great detail! That is really, really amazing. I'm old enough to remember text-based MUDs and MOOs... what you're describing would have been *science fiction* when I was a little kid playing Ultima IV on an Apple II. Amazing.
      Well, you did a great job. It basically sounds as if you simply played original U6 .mp3s over a random video, you got the pitches and frequencies *so* accurate! I am not musically inclined myself, so I am really in awe of what this would have taken. Did you convert the MIDI to sheet music by hand, like, by ear? Or is there software that helps with that step?
      I apologize if my badgering is annoying, feel free to just ignore me 😂

      @ I was right there with you on my C64! So to clarify, the music IS played live in game. You can see the musical notes reflected as each instrument is played. (The notes can also be turned off) Bands gather and play their music live in giant festivals in LOTRO. It's really fun! The sound you hear is from the band in game. If you were playing LOTRO and came across our band performing you would hear it. And while you can deconstruct midis and assign them to instruments you still have a lot of adjustments to tweak, and sometimes editing the original midi file itself. It's a lot of fun. (just time consuming) I'm not the best at explaining so let me see if I can find you a solid tutorial on how this works and what programs are used. I use Maestro to arrange the midi files and some simple web based midi editors. And never annoying Happy to help!😃

    Currently playing Ultima VI again after many years. Played in 1992 on DOS., without a soundcard only pc speaker. So I am loving playing again in emulation with sound capabilities. Came across your post from Reddit. Thanks for posting...Love it, imaginative and fun!

      Oh, that must be so good going form beeps and boops to hearing the music and sound effects! I can relate as I played Ultima V on my C64 and it did not have music. Years later I played it via emulation and could not believe what I missed out on. Just great we can still play and enjoy these classics. Thank you for giving the clip a look/listen and very happy you enjoyed it.

    Absolutely stunning!!! Well done!
    Btw: why didn't you choose Bree/prancing pony? Would have loved to see an audience enjoying your music

      Thank you! Initially the ending track was done at Prancing Pony but we scrapped it because of lag and trolling. Even in LOTRO (sometimes) other players won't behave 😃Edit: And I was trying to keep the U6 theme as there were no Hobbits, Dwarves, Elves or Beornings running around. That was earlier Ultimas. Those Bobbits! 😉
