Yaaaaa love when u upload Zowy❤
I love all your enclosures 💖
Thank you so much! 😄
looks awesome!!
Thank you!
Nice setup! Look up the isopod “Florida fast” they do better in dry environments and aren’t as protein hungry. People’s gecko’s have been eaten by powder orange 😱
Maybe something to note. Porcellio scaber “oranges” are the ones I’ve heard to be the most risky in bioactive set ups, not Porcellio pruinosus “powder oranges.” Powder oranges are much smaller and usually not much of an annoyance. Scabers being much bigger can end up with bad situations of them munching on your animals. In any case, providing your clean up crew with plenty of leaf litter, calcium, AND supplemental protein sources should bring that risk down drastically.
Like the other commenter said, Pruinosis species are very commonly and wildly used as CUC. There are other species who are much more protein driven where this does pose a risk, like porcellio species, which there are orange of. I recommend checking out aquarimax for isopod info :)
@@zareptiles thanks, I’ve already gotten out of hobby and sold my whole collection recently but I still have a mild interest in isopods.
I am going to get a Kenyan Sand Boas soon I’ve done so much research I know all of the important stuff and a lot of random stuff that doesn’t really matter to keeping them🙂
thats the sign of a great reptile keeper! :)
How about now
Now that it has been some time, did you change your mind about potting the succulents? How did the orange isopods end up working out?
Most of the succulents died, but that was at my own fault because I forgot to water them LOL! So with that being said the isopods died off too. However the aloe survived and I have added more plants now that I am better at taking care of them, so hopefully this time around I can keep it fully planted. I'm also having much better success with my isopods now because in my arid enclosures I overflow the water dishes so there is always a more damp area for the isopods to retreat to, and it was been working out great!
@@zareptiles Thanks for the reply. I just did a Kenyan bioactive and chose not to pot the succulents. I’m now thinking he’s going to dig them up. Good call on spilling the water around the dish! Now I feel better about that mess I make each time.
how often does your sand boa come out of his butrow? i really love kenyans but im curious because i hope that if i ever got one, i could interact with it a bit
She comes out every now and then at night! You can always take them out and hold them, but if you are hoping for an animal that you’ll get to watch in its enclosure a sand boa wont be that animal (that is unless you are a night owl lol! Tootsie waits until all lights are off and its quiet to come out)
Orange isopods have known to start eating reptiles in enclosures

I know in the video you said you wanted to wait and see due to the boa loving to burrow but Did you end up leaving the enclosure with the plants directly in the soil? Or did you end up potting them?
I did end up leaving them! They rooted and did totally fine!
@@zareptiles yay okay perfect!!
I wonder how often you really can see the sand boas?
Like once a day for a minute, any other day for some minutes?
If the sand boa ever out for let's say 15 minutes or more (when it's not your scheduled feeding day)?
Several nights out of the week! Whether it’s her head poking out or her out exploring!
@@zareptiles Sounds amazing. Thank you very much for the quick answer. That was the final piece of information I've been looking for before getting a cute Sand Boa.
Hi! Can you link the video where you made the bg??🤷🏻♀
ua-cam.com/video/G8btWXyg1xg/v-deo.html :)
Where did you buy all of your plants? Did you just get them from your local garden store?
I get them from all over! Gardening stores, etsy, reptile shops (online), expos! Most important part is to clean and quarantine your plants before exposing your animals to them! I did a video on this in the past:)
do you think a 15 gallon tank would be big ebough for a female or would a 20 gallon tank be better?
I wouldn’t go any lower than a 20 for a leo :) I prefer 20 longs, but queso is a small girl, so this converted 20 tall works for her. However, this is not her final enclosure and she will get a bigger one in the near future :)
@@zareptiles thank you!
What website do you get the substrate from?
I tried out the BioDude but I also mixed in my own substrates (organic topsoil and play sand from Home Depot)
This is for a sand boa?? That’s not enough substrate for her to dig especially being a female.
It wasnt mentioned in the video - I had mentioned it in my hognose set up which was filmed the same time, but forgot to mention it in this one - the biodude bags didnt supply as much substrate as I was expecting, so I did have to add my own mix to it to make it deeper.
Also on the note of her being female - she was still very young and small at the time of this video. Not even close to a fully grown female yet :)
