This is proof positive that we as creators are utterly spoiled nowadays. What an amazing time to be into filmmaking!!! I can't wait to watch this and hyper analyze every frame LOL
I think that this is a great example of ‘the right camera for the right job’. Mobility and low-light capabilities were obviously a big reason it was chosen, but I have to say I’m not quite sure why something like the FX6 wasn’t used? Basically adds features and capabilities that are more filmmaker friendly, mainly in the ergonomics which on set is very important, for exactly the same image. Either way, great to see Edwards using the same approach to production that saw him get his start in Monsters and in his previous VFX work.
I love this idea of nimble and organic filming especially for action films but also for the benefit of the actors getting the chance to flesh out a scene better.
There are probably better camera choices when it comes to sharpness, resolution, and color, but I think Gareth Edwards' choice for his film is perfect. He's telling a dystopian story, and that gritty grain, that wide angle, and those colors... somewhat worn out makes it look great and very accurate in the concept and context of the story it is telling us in images. The movie looks like a big 200 million production, and the guy only used an 80 million budget with a small crew, shooting in exotic locations instead of a green screen hangar. That he used such an affordable camera is also very inspiring for young filmmakers just starting out. I suppose that on the movie screen you will see some seams in the image format, but I am sure that it will be justified by the story it is telling. I can't wait to see The Creator in theaters.
"Full imax resolution." "Full frame" Pick one. Either he thinks we are stupid or doesn't know what hes talking about. Either way I'd be really upset as an investor if the director shot on a FX3 and claimed it looked as good as an Arri. This is marketing.
Brilliant. Gonna go home and hug mine.
I just gave mine a little cuddle after watching this too
Same 😭
Gonna sneak mine into the premiere

So cool. I picked up one a few months ago. It really does feel like a whole new world.
Thanks for the front-row seat experience of this piece of great information. Fascinating. 🎥📷

I figured if light weight is important why not just go with the lightest of them all. Fx6 has the exact same sensor but is way bulkier
They didn't choose the FX6 because it would take out the mobility element that they needed for the film.

Fuuck yeaa FX3 ftw!
Wow!!!
Yes but what is that scrwdriver hook thing in your background?
What’s weird about it all is how many people are triggered by what someone else shot a movie with.
True. Camera choice is almost becoming irrelevant. Lens choice is more important. And let's not forget the MOST important thing. A GOOD SCRIPT!!!!
No, the FX3 is definitely not IMAX resolution.

Shut up.
Imax isn't a set resolution, it's an aspect ratio.
@@RedBlackFilms So what does Full imax resolution mean then? The director said it, and I'm saying that makes no sense.
@@Nemastic it's just bad wording, but regardless, it doesn't change the fact that they did mostly shoot this film with the FX3
still, regardless .. the movie was shot 90% with an Fx3! That is remarkable! weather we like it or not.
