jungle is my fav DnB, started with it back in 98, song called Ner_Kor sm3. Found it on an old website back then, loaded it in Fasttracker II and that is how I got started with making electronic music.
I have this mixer and a 1604 cr for around £200 for both. found on Facebook marketplace bought this year for reference don’t look on reverb or eBay most people selling them are not aware of it’s mojo for drum n bass
@@nkrusty3907 I had an instance of early 2000s Korg MDE fx plugin doing the reverb and. the fx channel was output to a stereo pair on the 1202. the other fx are just stock renoise :)
Hi, is an old analog mixer worth running a kick or a break through just for the sound? Like using the output of my interface into an analog mixer running hot for distortion and then back into the DAW/interface?
hi, yah i think it's worth it. like koncreteto mentioned above: analog clipping is superior. if you want to get a 90s mixer for it, you'll want to make sure you're getting one that has a nice distortion. the old 90s mackies are great for it; and can often be found for dirt cheap :)
heya! thanks for checking out the video. that controller is an OMX-27 MIDI Controller, it's a DIY Kit that is available to order every once in awhile (it's a one-person shop). It functions as a typical two-octave midi keyboard, has a couple of MIDI step sequencers, a Mutable Inst. Grids sequencer, a Euclidean sequencer, an organelle mother thing, a chord keyboard, programmable encoders, and a drum-mapped keyboard. I use it with everything now, even in Renoise!
Yo,ThinkPads are like tanks. I have a T420 and it's still running. I don't know what to do with it though. I also have that exact sound card, hooked up to a 2008 offline Mac with Logic Pro 8.
Oh nice! You could always make music with it :) btw, i ALSO have a 2nd Motu running on a 2007 snow leopard mac with Logic Pro 8 lol… it is fun using old software, especially on capable computers…. So much software is bloated with the same hideous, uninspired, flat UI these days… nice going back to the era of 2000s software… nostalgia ❤
really outstanding tune! i recently picked up and old mackie mixer and motu interface myself and am interested in a hybrid setup like this-im curious how you approach your mixdowns, are you doing any mixing itb with the native mixer? i looked at the project file and saw that you had a drum bus, do you just have that routed to one of the stereo channels on the mixer, while the bass, pad, vocals etc are routed to channels 1-4? again this tune and your whole channel rocks and is a huge wealth of information, thanks for all that you do!
@@basilannrhodes3244 heya! Yup I will just route the drum bus to a channel, typically just a mono one. truly appreciate you checking out the channel and stuff, glad you’re getting some helpful info!
@@arcologies rad! i noticed renoise only allows for stereo out routing so it’ll eat up two outputs on the motu, are you just hard panning those channels on the mixer? thanks so much for your genorosity with your time and knowledge!
@@basilannrhodes3244 you can just hard pan them in renoise and have them output to a motu stereo pair. so renoise hard panned L is mono out to motu ch3 L into ch1 in the mixer.
hi there! thanks for checking it out :) the card reader has a Firewire 1394 card in it so that i can use the MOTU ultralite mk3 firewire sound card with it... the sound card has 10 outputs, and the firewire version can be found for super cheap. great option if you want a lot of outs on an old win/mac machine. that keyboard is an omx27 diy midi keyboard. it has a couple of built-in step sequencers, a mutable instrument grids sequencer, a euclidean sequencer, and some other cool things (chord keyboard, drum map keyboard)... a few nice programmable encoders too! github.com/okyeron/OMX-27/tree/main

Renoise really is the "DOOM" of DAWs, thing can run on anything..
excellent way of describing it :)

this is so true! i have a bad habit of buying small old mixers... probably too many at this point :(
Pcm slot is a throwback 😅
running a wicked firewire card :O
Love it. Reminds me of moving shadow and goodlooking record quality. Bring me back to the 90s.
heya, truly appreciate you listening to the track; really glad you got those vibes too :) exactly what i was going for!
@@arcologies If you had to rank all your mixers by the mojo they add, which one comes out on top?
@@saltysaltytears my favorite one to use is the soundtracs topaz, just sounds great :)

nice tunes! i miss my old windows xp laptop. it was so chonky.

Analog clipping is alot more pleasing than digital clipping
