Of all the bands i have met, the DragonForce guys have got to be the most down to earth humble people I've ever met. Herman is so chill to chat with

Sam's better honestly. They're both on top 10 on the entire planet though.
Sam plays more accurately, but I feel like Herman prefers speed over perfection. They're awesome at guitar , but honestly neither are top ten, I'd think top 100 or so. People like Steve Vai, Satriani, and John Petrucci are better, imo. Sam and Herman are probably the fastest guitar players, though. I actually like Herman better than Sam because of how crazy he is on stage and how much fun he has. Sam seems like he thinks it's a burden to play live.

Why would anyone hate DragonForce? You don't have to like them but they are all very talented so you should at least respect them. I had the chance to listen to them live and meet them. I can say that they're really nice guys and they play awesome live now so go to one of their shows before shitting on them
They used to be a studio band. They've changed their structure over the years to make it a little more viable to pay in the flesh.
GemCat well, they've become much more consistent live as well. Even the older songs (including TTFF) sound great live currently. I think Marc Hudson gave them the kick they needed to buck up their game
They were actually on point on their last days with ZP Theart.

Alot of people tend to hate on Herman because of his guitar virtuoso privileged playing style, typically I don't really like all the crazy shred stuff but you know what...he's still a badass guitar player regardless...he doesn't seem to be a dick like Malmsteeen.

What always makes me laugh about TTFAF's string break is I knew it was a string break before I ever heard it offically told. As a guitarist myself, I've snapped many a string. I know the sound well.

Great interview! Great guitarist, no doubt about it. Ultra Beatdown is my favorite DragonForce album. Herman Li plays guitar very well. Not just a great guitarist, but also a great person to chat with.
