@@dmichael100 Well keep at it. These games are gems and it's a real treat to get to watch them. If you don't mind me asking, how have you collected so many of these old games? I'm trying to build a collection of my own, but UA-cam is pretty much my only resource.
@@AdamEllis33 I started looking for Dan Issel games from the ABA and NBA about 20 years ago and found other collectors in basketball magazines and the internet really made the hobby take off. The supply has really dried up but occassionally I will have someone contact me that they have a game from the 70s. So I know of some more out there that are on my want list. I wish the NBA would just offer their archives for down load maybe $3-10 a game depending on how old it is..
@@dmichael100 Ah I see. Just with copywrited material being taken down all over the internet? Possibly that's the reason for it all disappearing? I've been looking all over the place for Pete Maravich games back from his days with the Hawks and I still haven't had any luck. I suppose it's one of those things you just need to keep checking on pretty regularly. I like the idea about the NBA allowing paid downloads. They'd surely make a lot of money from a plan like that.
Satch Sanders was teammates with a lot of Celtics from Cousy to Sharman to Heinsohn to Russell to Havlicek to Cowens to White to Silas (1960-73). Too bad he’s out for this game. I think 1970-71 was the year Havlicek posted career highs in points, rebounds and assists. Dennis Awtrey played on the Suns in 1976 and was in that triple overtime game against the Celtics in the Garden. Bailey Howell played for the Celtics after Red Auerbach coached them and before Dave Cowens played for them. The teams had the NBA logo on the shorts because of the NBA’s 25th anniversary Hal Greer with the jump shot free throw (19:31) and Don Nelson’s one handed jump shot free throw (29:45) Can you do that today? 22:36 Cowens just like in the 1974 NBA Finals game 6 Thank you for these Basketball classics!
Jo Jo White always looked perfectly balanced, in control and so smooth. And yes, that is Dr. Jack Ramsay -coach of the 1977 NBA champ Portland- on the bench for Philadelphia. Ramsay was general manager of the SIxers (who traded Chamberlain to Los Angeles) who stepped in to coach the club. He would move on to Buffalo and lead them into the playoffs and of course, spend several seasons with Portland including a championship in 1977. *
Hondo is the man tons of people sleep on this man and those 70s celtics the also had the best season regular season in celtics history in 73 when they won 68 games in a EC with the knicks bullets
dmichael100 interesting that Keith Jackson’s final 4 years at ABC (he was there since the 1960s) was the first 4 years of today’s NBA on ESPN/ABC coverage. So he was around both eras of ABC NBA basketball, but he didn’t call any NBA games on ABC in the 2000s. He stuck with college football (RIP) The ESPN/ABC NBA package has gone on for 17 years! It beats the NBA on NBC and the old NBA on ABC, which went on for only 8 years.
@@rjpsuh06 In David Halberstam's seminal "Breaks of the Game" he does a masterful job of delineating ABC"s early relationship with the NBA-especially Roone Arledge's role in giving the NBA a national identity.
Wow just read up on that situation with Cunningham and the ABA Carolina Cougars, settled in federal court! Lmao what a mess, safe to say the Sixers don’t go 9-73 if Cunningham was on that team
@@inabasketball2205 Yep. me too. I actually enjoy watching many of these old games more than current ones sometimes. I especially liked this one because the quality is so good and there are very few games from the early 70s around.
Archie Clark- with Philadelphia in 1971- is one of the most underrated guards of the late 60s and 70s.
Yes indeed
Very true he had game
But better than Earl the Pearl because that’s who he replaced after this for the bullets
Thank you for these old games. I have a hard time finding early 70s games, so I really do appreciate it.
Its a labor of love on my part, believe me. I'm so gratified you enjoy them as well.

only thing that sucks is the NBA ticker at the bottom which takes away from the feel that it is lost tape......
Amazing! This is the only available game of Havlicek or Cunnimgham in their legit prime.
Yes, sad we can't see more of these guys in early 70s
Dave Cowen's one of the most underrated centers of all time.
True

Havlicek averaged 28.9 that yr, he scored 34 here on bad shooting day, and 7.5 assists
Basketball from my childhood I always looked forward to those Sunday afternoon games on ABC.
I bet there are a lot more of these classic games somewhere just lying around. I could watch them all day long.

The NBA on ABC was good because of Roone Arledge was an executive producer.
The NBA on ABC today is now with ESPN..
