I am new to cooking/baking. When I go to make a pie do I heat this up and add the cornstarch or can it be added without heating the apples first? I am very much enjoying your videos!
I had a couple of my jar lids after a week popped up and they fizzled when i opened them. Not sure what that meant. If that was a bad thing or just a fermenting. But it ruined the tops my ither 22 jars are fine. So wondering what i did wrong. I washed and heated and dried in over my jars and boiled my lids. Just because its what I remember. I am making 4 types of apples products. Pie filling, doughnut filling, apple sauce and apple butter. Started with 9 bushels. So lots to still do. Videos are informative thx.
That's a good question but a tough one to answer without seeing those jars. It might be best to throw them out or at least boil the filling for a few minutes if you think it might be fine. Hope that helps 🍎🍏 ~ Anja
I didn’t see any mention anywhere on the amount of water. I too am trying to avoid having to make a simple syrup. In this respect this is a good recipe.
Homemade pie filling should last at least 12 months but I have kept mine for 3 years even. Ideally, you want to store it in a cool place away from direct sunlight to protect its color. If you keep your canned apple pie filling longer than that it will most likely still be good. However, it might lose a bit of flavor and color. 😊 ~ Anja
I add just a couple drops of cinnamon oil, and a bit of butter, to my filling when I make the pies. Homemade is always best.❤
That sounds delicious! Thanks for the tip 👍 ~ Anja
I love the way you explain receipts. So easy. And the way you measure. I do the same😅😂 Greetings from Spain.
Nice! I am so glad to hear that! Greetings back to Spain 💛 ~ Anja
I measure the same way.
That's exactly the recipe I needed. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Great way to make apples ahead for an apple pie. Thank you so much for sharing and for all you do.❤
You are so welcome!
Thank you. A lovely (perfect) straightforward recipe. Just what I've been looking for. 💖

Anja, perfect. LOVE. IT.... I KNOW I will make apple pie more often....when the filling is DONE.
Just make the crust. Walla. Thank you again. Aria

I love not putting thickener in while canning. I prefer to add when making the pie.
Thank you for sharing!

If adding cleargel to your recipe, how much would you suggest?
For one batch of fruit pie filling you can use one tablespoon of Clear Jel with one tablespoon of water.

How long do you bake the pie & at what temperature?
It depends on the recipe but I would bake it at 350˚F for about 45-60 mins.

Use just enough water to barely cover the apples ~ Anja
Is there any sealing of the jars?
The Mason jars popped and created a seal. The other one also created a vacuum so I'll have to pull on the rubber ring ~ Anja
Did not see the recipie for strudle using your apple pie filling. What am I missing.
Hi, you can find it here: ourgabledhome.com/easy-homemade-german-apple-strudel-from-scratch-apfelstrudel/😊 ~ Anja

As with another video you had you turned the jars upside down for 5 mins. You didn't do it in this video. Is it not necessary?
I was watching this German UA-camr (ua-cam.com/video/LkWx2G4SYk4/v-deo.html) who said you do not have to do this 🤷♀️

Hello!
It’s only good for a year if you can them!
