I get this! The itch/burn is SO intense. I can't help but to scratch them and they sometimes get a water blister type spot that will ooze if it ruptures. I also attract what seems like every mosquito in the county. I buy hydrocortisone in bulk 😅
EXACTLY!! I know the little bubble you're talking about & everything, lol! When you were a kid, were you constantly using your fingernails to make "X's" in them to try & get them to stop itching & burning?

Riddle me this: why is it when my nose is clogged with dry snot, does my face hurts horribly? And what can I do to fix it ? I’m American, so free healthcare is nonexistent
Face hurts because you have sinuses all over. The obvious ones in your nose, but also under your eyes and above your eyes. They probably have stuff going on. I'm not a doctor. I would say take an antihistamine if this is from allergies. If you're getting recurring sinus infections you need to see a doctor.
My dad & I sometimes, too! They're usually smaller, a little larger than a golf ball, but it's not unusual to get up to the baseball size. People don't believe it until they see it!
Can confirm skeeter syndrome is real, it sucks, but prescription antihistamines that are sometimes prescribed as anxiety meds (how I found out I have skeeter syndrome) do work now they are just a slightly itchy pimple to me
Mosquitos love the women in my family, my sister suggested the extra strength Benadryl cream and it's fantastic. Doesn't do much for when the buggers bite my hands though. I'd rather wear long sleeves and pants in 95F than suffer their bites at this point 😭
I only have that reaction to mosquitos in specific regions. I live on the Northern California coast and don't develop severe welts after getting bit; but whenever I visit the Tahoe area in the mountains and get bit the bites almost always turn into penny-sized welts that itch like hell
If I get bit by a mosquito or chiggers and I've forgotten to take my antihistamine, I immediately know, lol. Especially the chiggers - the itch, rash, and hives are unreal!
I slept with my windows open after the hurricane and I still have bites that haven't healed 😢. And my reaction to anything I'm allergic to is so much worse during a lupus flare!
I’m allergic so bad I get HUGE burning and itchy welts and they sometimes bruise. It’s horrible. The invention of big repellant was a lifesaver for me 😅
My husband got one on his ankle and it made him throw up everywhere, with the rash around it getting bigger. Luckily he was alright after some saline and meds to take home
I've always had issues with mosquitos my entire life. One time I've had my arm swell up to x4. Had to do a baking soda concoction for 2 days to reduce swelling because 6 adult benadryl did nothing but make me tired.
When was 4 - 6 yrs old every summer at least once my face would swell from mosquito bites near or on my head. I wonder if this is why. It was the mid 70s and all I remember is jokes about my asian eyes, all the Popsicles i wanted and my mom makiymg older brothers play with me
I'm literally going to get an allergy test next week to see about insect allergies because from time to time, like with years in between, I will get these huge itchy welts that are obvious bites but I never see any bugs on me.
Im usually fine, but if i get bites on the back/under my arms or front of thighs then I get a slightly larger welt and light red rash with a 2in diameter surrounding the bite. Super weird, i thought it was lyme disease except it was super itchy and felt like a bruise.
@MK-ih6wp What's funny is people used to tell me that if you eat a lot of garlic they'll leave you alone, but I eat garlic on almost every single meal! I LOVE the stuff, & I don't eat much salt at all or a ton of sweets. For awhile they were saying it was related to blood type, but they actually think it's genetic, not diet or anything.
And when it swells so much that it bursts open and oozes? And that is after oral and topical antihistamine + topical corticosteroids. Or it doesn't burdst and you have a 3 inch diameter blister that is almost an inch high? And then your child has a golf ball sized scars that haven't gone away after 3 years?
Ive had my WHOLE FACE swell up so bad from mosquito bites it was almost impossible to open my eyes, and i did not scratch the bites, it was so bad i should have gone to urgent care
Skeeter syndrome aint no joke 😭 long term survivor here 😂

When i get bitten by a mosquitoes the bite area becomes as big as a baseball 🤣

So, benedryl? Or would Zyrtec be a safer option?
Love the bowtie and that pattern in it!
You can’t tell me that a southern/country person didn’t name this syndrome lol 😂 that’s what we call mosquitoes in the South… skeeters 🦟 😅
I have this and use lots of bug spray to avoid the long-term effects of bites. Benadryl cream tends to help too.

Great advice doc! I have SS.
My daughter had that as a young child. She grew out of it by her teens.
I used to get this often when I was kid.
I love your bow ties they look great with your glasses!

The treatment for getting bit is to avoid getting bit 😅
I see I'm not the adult getting these issues.
It's also a bit more common in children cuz they are developing their immune system.
But what if it's only SOME mosquito bites, not all? 😬👀
I’m allergic so bad I get HUGE burning and itchy welts and they sometimes bruise. It’s horrible. The invention of big repellant was a lifesaver for me 😅
My little sister used to get these every time we went camping, I'm pretty sure she just grew out of it. Is that possible?
Mix baking soda and water and use it as a mask on the bite apply a few times a day
My husband got one on his ankle and it made him throw up everywhere, with the rash around it getting bigger. Luckily he was alright after some saline and meds to take home
Just clicked to me that you could take antihistamines for bug bites too 😂 thanks

I react within minutes, and it's not so much that it itches, it's that _it doesn't stop._
okay so i have lupus, is this why bug bites spread and go really red for the first days before turning bright purple??
If it is an infection, wouldn't steroids make it worse?
My mosquito bites get huge like that but they don't itch for me, instead they hurt like hell
Good that I don't have any known allergies.
Mosquito spray with “deet” ingredient helps
My dad & I have this IN SPADES!! Our bites get huge & so itchy, while my mom & sister get totally ignored by mosquitoes 😅
Do you all have a similar diet?

Yup, this is me 😢 fellow celt so maybe it's our blood 🤷♀️
If you react to mosquitoes and have other chronic issues you need to be assessed for mastocytosis
I do think they are more attracted to the “weaker” humans.
Or there is something in the American diet + our genetics that mosquitos just can’t resist!

Do they have any autoimmune issues?
Hahaha the NAME of this syndrome does not convey how freaking annoying it is to live with. But at least it made me laugh.
