The only captain marvel i grew up with is Shazam. I hate he is just called shazam…

Yeah, he was only called that, originally in the Infinite Crisis (not to be confused with the original Crisis on Infinite Earths), because he took over for the Wizard Shazam when he went missing in the Countdown (to Infinite Crisis) story line right before it. They just decided to be dumb and lazy and keep the name when they rebooted him back to before he took on Wizard's role at the Rock of Eternity in the New 52. Which was incredibly stupid. He's Captain Marvel. I will only accept him as "Shazam" during the time when he took on that mantle to replace the Wizard Shazam. Shazam is the name of the Wizard who gave him his powers. He can't just steal his name, unless he's taking his position and duties, lol 😅.

I think that's what Kyle was referencing when he mentioned the Avengers not being very nice to her.

2:52 I’m well over 35 and I didn’t get the reference of an actor name who hasn’t been in much in decades who I didn’t know the name of even when he was current.
He's a beloved character actor, well known to film nerds across the globe.
Nothing screams great joke like a reference to an actor born in the 1930s that includes a caveat on screen.

I recognize him as the assassin from The Jerk. And apparently he was in a couple episodes of Home Improvement I may have seen 30 years ago and the live action Flash series I would have watched about 30 or so years ago.
No. I totally don’t feel bad for not knowing this guy’s name. He’s been in a bunch of …. stuff …. nothing I would really watch. Snow Dogs? One episode of Frazier? Scorpion King 4?
Feels like a pretty odd reference to a 90 year old actor with a large catalog of minor roles.
It's not that complicated... 'captain marvel' as a moniker, is just a bit lame.
MARVEL as a business are intent on making the name stick, given they fought in court for the rights to it, and they don't want another company, like DC, to use the moniker for a character.
Captain marvel has always been a weak character however.
In my opinion the only good one was Monica Rambeau, Photon... but she was and is better with the name Photon.
Just as Carol Danvers was better with the name Ms Marvel. (But she was never an interesting character, the most notable thing the character ever did in the comics, was be absorbed into the Xmen character Rogue, and grant her new abilities and a moral quandary... prior to her 'reaching her full potential' without absorbing the soul of another character - but in comics terms that is actually a fairly recent development.
Many of us started reading comics while the character of Carol Danvers only existed within the head of, and as a tormentor of the Xmen character, Rogue.
.... and in my view the original Captain Marvel... Mar-Vell... well he's even less notable. He died of cancer. Big woop. Exciting stuff.

But legally... Marvel will never let it go.
Actually I seem to remember maybe Mar-Vell had a daughter 'Phyla-Vel' - she was a dead sexy lesbian who was with Moon Dragon, Drax's daughter... she's an awesome character.
If she was ever called Captain Marvel then she would be the best one... hmmm... no, Photons powers are still more interesting... and Phyla-Vel actually just became Quasar I'm quite sure. (Another super unpopular moniker).

Point being... Captain Marvel is nonsense. Its just brand garbage.
Every marvel character is more interesting when 'Marvel' isn't literally in their name. And Marvel just can't let that be.
