- I'm Shawn Cheek, and I've been teaching piano for 30 years, the last 12 exclusively online. I have 2 websites, webpianoteacher.com and shawncheek.com. webpianoteacher.com is for learning to play by ear using the chord approach. shawncheek.com is for learning to read music notation and classical music. Combined, I have 5000 video lessons, a lifetime of music learning! If you'd like a huge discount on a Dual Membership Lifetime Package to both websites, send me an email to easypianolessons@yahoo.com. Enjoy your music! Shawn
So, this version is more the George Jones version because of the D chord, right? I've been working on Chris Stapleton's version where its just A & Bm, then A D/A A all the way through. Im trying to find how to dress it up country style because my guitar player doesn't take solos, but am sure I can figure it out. Id love to get my sound more like country piano as best as I can. Thank for your cover here.
You bet!
This is my first time on your channel, are you adding to this song and not just playing what's written on the board, or am I reading the notes wrong?
Sarah Tyler the squiggly lines ‘vamping’ holds the cords longer and involves pressing the same keys a bit to mark time...he explains it. Also his notation is pretty mixed up, not is any logical order but the notes are there. Second chord also looks like a c# to not a c. I don’t find it the easiest to follow. Plus like he says pretty much all the left hand is playing octaves, he also mentions this.
The richness of the chords you sketched is terrific! Just curious why not use standard music notation...is it easier to fit on a single page, or do you think the written letters are simpler for learners than standard notation? Not a criticism, just curious, and thanks.
This sounds a lot like Etta James "I'd rather go blind" or is it just me?
Basically the same song. Stapleton has said he purposely made it similar as a tribute to Etta.
It is. He took the music from Etta but the lyrics from Tenessee Whiskey
you see now... Cakra Khan Cover tenessee wisky....
Cool version, but this is the most confusing lesson I’ve ever experienced.
He is way too fast and very confusing
