A banner clean out for sure. Just one suggestion, use a N95 mask. Groveling around in dried excrement all day then ending up with a solid car is a good day. Getting sick from the dried excrement changes the equation entirely.
Being a retired homicide detective, I know a few things about putrid odors. Jason, I used to suck on peppermint candy when retrieving floaters from canals [SW Fla] or 4 day sitting or longer stiffs so try it to see if it helps. Just like I'm happy there is no Smell-a-vision, I'm also grateful there's no "Pew-tube". lol
I just luuuuv these videos. My dad owned a '67 beetle in the 70s and I always helped him wash the car. To me, even though I owned a 1303 at one point, the 60s beetles are my favourite. Love the steering wheel with the trim, can't beat bakelite. Very happy UA-cam is not able to convey smells, I am sure it was as bad as you said, video made me burst out in laughter a couple of times.
Man I gotta tell you that is a NICE 64.....I am guessing it was in that barn for a long time. all the sound deadener and stuff still there. Buy some of that rust converter and hit those floors with a wrre brush. rust converter and some paint patina it out and drive it just like it is. Those door cards are 1 year only. they had that color in 65 but larger door cards. Rare. Remember I had a 65 panama too.
I'm not the neatest guy and have been known to leave my ride too long without a vacuum and a wash. But I never let it go so long I needed to shovel it out! 😊
Ginger looks like she might be a diamond in the rough. I really like that Panama Beige color. Can't wait to see what it looks like after the outside gets washed.
My mom first car was a VW beetle it was a use 1956 beetle she got it in 1963, she wreck it during the winter storm, that was the end of it, it was 1971, that tan color 1963 look better in condition then that other on the trailer, I hope u get that tan 1963 completed restored.
Great Video Jay. OK, so I ended up nearly falling off the couch at least three times; 1.) "Oh, I've got a vision for this one, Its a bit blurry, but I've got one." ( I thought you just had a beer in your hand, but upon re-watching it I realized there was the rest of the empties on the ground next to you :)> 2) "If you hear the kids next door they're just really excited because there's now 27 VW's in my yard." 3.) Oh my God, 5150s turnin a wrench? Brouhaha hehehehehe Love your dry sense of humor. Thanks for Friday Night entertainment. 🤣 Its cleaning up nice! John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee.
NICE looking blue Ghia on the trailer in front of the bug. Hey at least you scored a really nice 4 way lug wrench. Looking forward to the autopsy of the engine. I hope the major parts are still good, or at the very least, the case.
Nice find. If it's as promising as t looks, and the original engine can be gone through or even rebuilt, clean everything as much as you can, make it safe to drive using original parts, and I think you could say it's a low mileage original car that hasn't necessarily lived a pampered life. It's got a story. I miss my 58. Looking forward to more on this.
The "966" phone number is New Canaan Ct, which is the next town over from Norwalk where you showed a repair ticket from a shop in another video. Basically the southern end of the state near the NY line. Hint for cleaning the inside is a garden hose and a wet vac. Just soak, then suck... repeat as necessary.... then let dry
Cleaned up pretty nicely bro, 27 VWs in your yard!? I would LOVE to have just one in my driveway. Those are some lucky neighbor kids, if I was one of them I’d be over at your house everyday helping out with all those VWs. Can’t wait to see Ginger turn over and run again. Would love to know the stories each car has been through and experienced. You should continue writing that song “I’m going to wash that mouse piss right out of your hair,Ginger.” I’m sure it would go double platinum. Hahahaha!! Peace love and rock on!!
Love the vw. You have inspired me to return to my VW roots in the early we had a 70 station wagon and a 71 fast back. I loved them. I am in Newfoundland Canada and there are no vw left here. They use road salt by the ton here. Still looking for a solid body to do a restoration but in the meantime my wife and I bought 2 VW Taos. Beautiful suv!!! Needless to say I am really looking now for my VW restoration.
VW beetles (the real ones that is) are the most life like of all cars. My '78 (named Dietrich) only comes out in nice weather and light traffic. He makes friends everywhere he goes. Looking forward to this beetle being brought back to life!
Jason the body looks pretty good on that 64. Just nasty inside on the floor. Overall pretty good condition! Hope you and your family have a great Christmas!!!
I can smell that pile of nest from here! Argh! Stop stirring it up, man! Guess what I was thinking just before you asked "Why do I do this?" LOL The windshield is spotless as well!
Got to tell your brother at cleaning up and it looks extremely fantastic I'm absolutely loving it love and color the sunroof the way that - cleaned up can't wait to hear it run good for you
Hell yeah dude!! Looks like a solid beetle!! I have one that someone bolted the pans in too!!! Much easier to undo than big stick weld blobs, etc!!! Awesome Video Dude!!!!
Yes its pretty bad when you have to attack with a spade just in case its previous inhabitants haven't found a new home yet. You need a big stick, some thick gloves and a shop vac with a lot of suck.. At 4.38 i see what was stuck to that ball of stuff on the floor. It looks like ginger pubes but its actually seat stuffing. I can see it coming out of the side of the seat. LOL This car is mousey, very mousey. It looks better now that you have demoused it.. Will it run? You might have to get Mustie around for that.
When you can taste it you've had enough fun 🤣 Taken one for the beetle bug team your the man Jason. Reminds me of the old days of digging out decomposing little bodies and their nest of out Subaru blower fan boxes gotta love it 🤢. That luggage tray I used to call the fox hole as a kid I use to sleep in it when my parents would take us kids somewhere I recall how warm it was and the sound of the engine humming away yes the good old days of bug living.😁👍👍👍👍
Not going to lie, I did have to throw all my clothes in the wash and run right to the shower after watching..in that order! Hahahah! Happy Holidays to you and yours. Thanks for sharing!
I might have hantavirus after watching that. LOL Looks like a fairly solid car though. Parcel shelf and frunk look nice! Just need to replace the front portion of the floorpans--or the whole floorpans depending.
And I thought I'd seen bad mouse action in some of the old cars I've bought, hah! (But I digress.) Despite that & considering it's age etc. This one's body's still in fairly good condition. Yayyy! Looking forward to more. p.s. Hope Santa's good to you. Shane. 🙂
God, she's so beautiful. On the very day this car rolled off the assembly line I was being born on the other side of the planet. We've seen a lot of changes, we've both been neglected, we both drink Budweiser and we both smell mustie. And we're both still alive. They can kill me...... but save her life. She deserves better than this.
Be ginger maryanne! The ammonia is permeating my phone! So far she's not looking too bad, i think we all look forward to the clean up video! Hopefully she's a runner. Good job Jason! Do you ever restore any of the rare one's or do you prefer the patina look?
Wow, this feels like a bit of de ja vu for me. I just did this same cleanout procedure back in early November, but mine wasn't quite as bad. It is always a surprise to see what the mice did and didn't ruin in their quest for housing. Nice work. Glad it's over for you on this one. It is nasty work, but somebody's gotta do it.
thank you Corey , there is more cleaning to do but at least the worst is out . It is crazy to see where mice nest in some cars vs others of the same type . They sure do rust them out fast though
Great video Jason! That bug deserves to be restored back to excellent condition. Some minor cancer surgery. Some new pans. A good dentless body repair guy could massage that hood out easily. I love unmolested bone stock bugs! Loved seeing the grease pencil marks under the hood. BTW, I know a guy who knows a guy that could refresh that distributor and fuel pump. Sparxwerks! 😉 P.S., a video of you trying to unstuck that engine and will it run would be awesome!
That is turning out to be a nice car. I'm surprised after all the mouse visitation. The dash, parcel shelf, and trunk look pretty nice. And a working sunroof. Your humor is outstanding and I laughed all through the video. Must be the Colorado Kool aid. Looking forward to the wash video and we don't need an engine. VW's are for pushing!
I am as well William , maybe the racoons were in there 1st and kept some mice out ? I got it washed yesterday in just below freezing temps with many fails along the way , too funny . Thank you , much appreciated
Jsson that is looking very solid compared to some, it's all there. Might need to do some welding on the bolt on floors! Mind you don't get some disease from that thing though. 😂Now I know why I thought it was yellow. To be fair though I am sure I heard you mention something about yellow when you first looked at it? I am in my 60's so life can start to get confusing. 🤣Anyway I am assuming that THE yellow one will be a parts car perhaps? Thanks for the update Jason and I will wish you Jen and Josh a happy Christmas 🎄. Take care.👍
Oh man, I could smell the mice from here. Once you've smelled that. you never forget it. Something that might help, if you buy a couple of bars of Irish Spring soap, and cut them in quarters. Put them on a couple of pieces of aluminum foil, and leave the car in the sun with the windows rolled up. Then take a shower with the rest of the soap.
Looks to be in decent shape as far as the body goes..hope you can free the engine up...mustie 1 probably would've helped with the clean up..you know he's a pro at clean up..lol..
Hi Jess, I think it is with the org engine still in it and some odds and ends. It cleaned up pretty well , working on freeing up the stuck engine . Merry Christmas and Happy New year
@@5150mxVW Hi! That’s ace, i really hope it pulls through for you! it will definitely be a moment to remember with where it was to now! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and all the best for the New Year!! :)
cool bug Jason!..hahah I see a New Canaan,ct phone number inside here too..I delivered the mail in that town for over 35 yrs..good luck with gettin her up and running..
Jason, send all that dirt back to the "Mouseage Section" of the barn the bug came from. That taste and smell certainly isn't the sweet taste/smell of success.
That 67 is in MINT condition compared to the one I found. The one i found the guy wants $150 and a TREE FELL ON IT and it has NO FLOORS! You can NOT close either door.
Dude, get yourself a proper respirator...only way I'd touch something in that condition. Go check out Larry from AMMO NYC and see what kind of PPE he wears when dealing with stuff like that. BTW it's cool that the original option codes are still in the front compartment!
I counted five shovel loads to get the mouse-house out of the passenger side, that's rough. Merry Christmas and may your stocking be free of mouse products! ;)
I like your work time never late always there picking cars loading them up and pushing cars all the time. Where is your son man he's a star of the show? I miss little man he would always make us laugh while he picks on you pushing cars
Dear 5150mxVW 👍👌👏 Very well done again and as always (video and work). Maaaan, I definitely not only feel comparison for you. I also feel with you because of my bad experiences with rodent crap. It was almost as if I could smell the urine/shit and feel the disgusting dust clogging up my nose and sinuses. Meanwhile my body/respiratory tract system developed an allergy against rodent crap. This bug is in a sooo much better condition than I thought. Congrats! I'm eagerly looking forward to watch the next video. Uuuuh, Jens fantastic blue Karmann Ghia convertible is back! Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. I wish you a wonderful Christmas time and a happy new year. Best regards luck and health to all of you.
A banner clean out for sure. Just one suggestion, use a N95 mask. Groveling around in dried excrement all day then ending up with a solid car is a good day. Getting sick from the dried excrement changes the equation entirely.
good advice Martin , thank you .
I can smell that car, close the doors! 🤢 Let’s see if it will start. Looking forward to more on this ‘64 Beetle.
hi Deborah , we need to get the engine unstuck , it had no oil in it when i pulled the dipstick .
J
The more you see, the better it looks. You did some hero cleaning and you deserve a medal for that. Ginger is a keeper.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
thank you CSS

That 64 is talkin' to me, it's those brown cord seats!
I can add it to your mini hoard lot and add it to the 914 $bill$😁

Ha, ha! If you have ever cleaned out a car with rodent debris, you already know the smell! The damper the day the stronger the odor.
Great score... Sun roof works WOW can smell it clear in Pa LoL 😜 have a great weekend...

We have nice rust free cars out here in barns Mike lol . Yes , lots of " one year " , like " small window " steel sunroof
thank you Mike👍
Life hack: keep the car cover inside the car to keep it in good shape lol - but nice find, cleaning off the dust-webs is always satisfying.
haha ....thank you
I'm not the neatest guy and have been known to leave my ride too long without a vacuum and a wash. But I never let it go so long I needed to shovel it out! 😊
haha, the pine cone beetle was the 1st time I used a shovel inside a car :)
I started watching this while eating dinner.....needless to say its almost midnight as I finished watching it........

I would love to find another one of these. I got my first drivers licenes in a vw 63 at 13 years old.
awesome ! good luck on the search William
5150 mxVW says at the end of the video: Thanks 4 droppin in.
And I guess he says to the rain on the yellow bug:
Thanks 4 drippin on! ;-)
Gingers looking very solid to be honest, Nice up front under the hood & dash looks nice too. Lets hope the motor un-sticks its self.
thank you Welshy

Always surprising what survives in these old cars, despite the critters. Still glad its you cleaning it.

TY for the Friday vid. needed that. good so far, but its blurry til you get it in the air
your welcome , true , the lift will tell the rest of the story
With all the vehicles you find, you must be near ancient VW burial grounds, then bring them home to give new life
Enjoy the vids, good fun
I had visions of the wife looking out the window while you did that doubled over in laughter. Then telling you to burn your clothes.
That one definitely gets nicer the deeper you dig. Can't wait to see the power wash!
👍, I was shocked when we had pans , luggage tray was great ....today is the wash

I counted five shovel loads to get the mouse-house out of the passenger side, that's rough. Merry Christmas and may your stocking be free of mouse products! ;)
Merry Christmas to you and your family . I washed the 64 yesterday and when I grabbed the wash mitt it had mouse 💩in it of course 😂👍.
I like your work time never late always there picking cars loading them up and pushing cars all the time. Where is your son man he's a star of the show? I miss little man he would always make us laugh while he picks on you pushing cars
Dear 5150mxVW
👍👌👏 Very well done again and as always (video and work).
