Hi Erica, I too love to go down rabbit holes to find a way to transform something into something unique that most do not have. I can not even begin to calculate what my crazy scientist inside me has cost me. Sorry to say I believe this procedure was an epic failure. The cost of the pan, Borax (not extremely cheap now days) and testing items plus your time and hopes were dashed in my opinion. In this case I would chip of the crystallization and just go to glass diamond dust. Thank you for sharing it has definitely saved me money in trying this project. However, I believe years ago I watched "The Beekman Boys" do something very similar that turned out amazing. I can not remember but sugar comes to mind. If you find a video on it you will be amazed at the beauty their greenery (if memories serve me right) had on it. It turned out lovely enough that this extremely old brain has held onto an image of his works for probaly over 15 years. Merry Christmas. Lynn, Dodge City, KS
Try lightly sanding project to be crystallized or clean with soap and water to remove any oils. Then you have to hang the item without touching anywhere including the flowers and pinecones. They will crystallize better. It still may not be perfect but that's the best advise I can give.
O saw another video on this ans the lady just added borax to boiled water but did not re-boil the mixture. Her flowers were beautiful. Good luck. I've never tried this but plan to
I have watched several videos using borax but they only used 3 tablespoons of borax to 1 cup of water. Also they didn't bring to a boil again. They poured the borax water in a different container and didn't let the items touch each other or the container.
But try Puting them in a jar your flowers that works Boil your water add your borax to the pot then porter boiling water and borax in your jars and then put your flowers in there that really works
Love this! I heard you can also do it with salt or sugar. I have cats that love to play with everything and borax is toxic for them so I'm going to try this technique with that
I love your youTube! I They turned out so cute! In the future when you make your videos you might want to consider how you speak. I get really tired of the UA-cam sing song. Other than that, great video! Can't wait to see more of your videos!
Go for it. If you make a mistake, that’s how you learn. I started using pipe cleaners and making patterns and dipping them. I do flowers that I buy from the $ store. It is so much fun.
Another video that I watched let the flowers and other items dry after taking them out of the "bath", I wonder if you left them to dry. Did they look better?
24 hrs is too long. About 8 works better. They should not touch the bottom of the pot because it sticks. Get a string and tie the flowers or the reindeer making sure it does not touch the bottom or the side of the pot. It does look pretty though.
why is the solution that you set the flours in cloudy, but the solution you put the deer in is clear? What did you do differently to prepare the solution?
Erica you should have tried this project before you videoed it too many people took time to watch this failure you should have tried it succeeded and then videoed it sorry!
Glad you showed this video with this unexpected reveal. It's good to show, youtubers don't always get it perfect everytime.

Neat experiment! May try this with flowers.
I've tried Borax many times & it ever worked right.

Thank you for sharing this 😍
Mix clear school glue with crystaal color glitter and paint where you want crystal effects.
Much easier!
Love this! I heard you can also do it with salt or sugar. I have cats that love to play with everything and borax is toxic for them so I'm going to try this technique with that
Hi Erica! These turned out so cool! Thanks so much for sharing! 😊

It looks pretty
I just luv the look
Thank you! Me too 🥰
Love it ❤ x
Maybe use metal close hanger for the flowers, Very cool look.
Could the problem with the deer have been the material it was made of?
think maybe cause you boiled it twice.. seen a few different ones and they didnt boil it again
I have heard of using borax to form crystals on items. I've always been too chicken to do it 😂😂. It turned out beautiful!!
😊😊😊😊😊

I searched for making permanent ice crystals for outdoor garland and this came up... Anything that will work outside that will keep for years?
Just make sure to use rust oleum clear coat to seal whatever you want to go outside . It will seal them waterproof

Can I soak my flowers in a plastic container with the borax
Great idea , could be used on plastic ornaments or styrofoam ?
On plastic, yes. I saw a video that used those old icicle ornaments and they looked great! Maybe if you search for those?

That was way too much water and boarax but it worked for ya but you could of made way more stuff
Sería bueno la traducción del vídeo, ya que muchos latinos o personas de habla Ispana ven este video.
You can click on the CC up in the corner and it will pop up Closed Captioning and you can then pick the language for translation.
Just trying to help ya

I disagree, it shows a real result rather than a typical perfect one.
Interesting, but keep away from children and pets, as borax can be toxic.
Stop touching the pot with your fingers and hand!!!
I don't like them sorry .
🤷♀️
Really? You thought it was necessary to write that? Why not just go away and keep your negativity to yourself?!?
Very rude
You're rude...I don't like you!
