Amazing video! I travel with my pets sometimes and can almost never get my remote cameras that I bring from home to connect to the guest network. THANK YOU!
You are welcome. Gotta feel safe with leaving the pets in a strange environment!
Great explanation, thank you. I have a stupid question: is there a travel router that doesn’t slow down the speed as much or do they all generally slow the speed down significantly?
That is actually a good question. The mango router is the low end and the max speed for OpenVPN maxes out at 11Mbps. If you get the Beryl AX model, the OpenVPN speed goes up significantly to 150Mbps. The cost of the Beryl and the weight of the Beryl is about 4-5X of the Mango so that's a factor too.
@@BlueMonkey4n6 thank you for the fast response!! I'm currently shopping for a router. Does the router with a 11mbps have enough to support quality recordings with the wyze cam with no issues, and handle like a iPhone and iPad connected for simple use like checking emails and social media scrolling? I want to save money, but willing to spend a bit more on a better router if its absolutely necessary. I hope that makes sense what I'm asking.
@lovenspired that speed is perfectly acceptable for doing emails and other things that doesnt involve streaming video. If you are recording to the Wyze cam’s SD card then the speed of the router doesnt matter. Your alerts will come through just fine.
@@BlueMonkey4n6 good to know. I appreciate your help with my questions.
I use this Mano router and the Wyze OG camera. It send me a “pet detected” notification every time my dog passes across the camera (I put it on the floor). You can also set sound detection notifications so that you know when your dog is barking or howling
Cool, thanks for sharing.
Can this camera be used with a personal mobile hot spot router such as the Netgear Nighthawk Pro? I already have an account with ATT and need to set up camera in my office which does not have a hard wired direct WiFi set up. I only use my mobile hot spot router
I havent tried that specific brand of hot spot router but I dont see why not. Let me know how it works out.
Would this work the same way with Arlo if we already have Arlo?
So if we wanted to do everything you said for a hotel setup, only using our Arlo camera we already have. (And have the app for)
I dont have an Arlo camera so I cannot say for sure but the theory behind should work for any camera system. Let me know once you've tried it.
question, I already have this camera. (wyze). I was going to travel with it but my worry would be using it at an all inclusive and having trouble connecting the wifi
since I recall it being picky about 2.4 vs 5.0 wifi
i’m wondering if having a guest web page wifi login type would cause an issue here
thoughts?
I would recommend that you use the Wyze with a travel router. That way the travel router would be able to connect to the resorts WiFi (2.4 or 5) and also be able to connect to the guest captive portal. And you connect the camera to the travel router; if you already preconfigured it at home then you just have to deal with connecting the travel router to the resort wifi.
could I uses my AirPort Express wifi ?
I havent tried the AirPort Express specifically but I dont see why not. Let me know how it works out
Im looking for info on laws about. I want to set up one in my cruise cabin.
great, let us know what you find out.
Does the camera you using connect to 2.4 or 5? Is that wifi meshed and if so how did you get around. I stay extensively in hotels and air bnb. I typically cant connect my camera as the networks are meshed and i cant single out the 2.4
Interesting problem. The hotels that i stay at are usually meshed. But i am not sure that makes a difference, the travel router should be able to connect to the hotel mesh network just like your phone or laptop. The camera connects to the travel router so it shouldnt care about meshing or not.
Both camera and router only work on 2.4. They do not work on 5. The mango router creates its own wifi, which you select from your phone, to access an IP address from your browser. You access the router admin page from your browser, select Tethering as your connection type, find the hotel wifi from the list of available networks, any splash screen will pop up so you can enter credentials, and then you’re in. Now you can add ALL your devices to the mango router instead of the hotel wifi.
Excellent, thanks for chiming in
Hi can i set up this router thru my iphone not a laptop im going on a trip in two days and i need this set up for my dog that needs to be in the hotel room i hope u can respond to me asap im in time crunch i ordered this router in amazon and its coming asap pls respond ty
sorry but what exactly is your question?
Can the router be set up with an iPhone, like if you don’t own or bring a laptop
Yes, you can use your iPhone’s browser to setup the router.
The watermark in the middle of the video was so distracting. I ended up not watching the video.
Thanks for the feedback, i tried to make the watermark as unintrusive as possible but maybe i need to tone it down even more.
@@BlueMonkey4n6 Maybe put it in a corner?
Thanks for the suggestion, i will explore that in the future
