During my travel in India, the hotel manager tried to come into my room at 4 am with the master key. lucky I had latched the door. But now I m paranoid about hotel rooms which dont have latches. Thanks for this video
Look up a device called a Door Jammer. They make a small, portable version that I never travel without. It's very easy to use and will jam up any door. I feel much safer when I travel with it.
GREAT video on safety. I am 75 yrs young and have been doing group travels for only 18 years. My core group is 10 - 12 seniors - usually all women. By the grace of God, we have not had any problems. As I hear about problematic issues, I adopt the safety tool to avoid the problem, i,e, CO2 alarm. It is wonderful to see the application of the different devices with great explanation on how to use them. Oh, I signed up for the Minkeeblue bag giveaway. I was already looking for something like that. Thank you AND Minkeeblue for the opportunity. You offer fantastic value to the world of travel. Stay the course.
I used that first lock on my apartment door in Playa Del Carmen one day when I was nervous about some loud noises one night and it got completely stuck and all my windows had bars so I was stuck inside for hours until the maintenance man walked by the next day and was able to use a hack saw to let me out. Be careful of humidity as wood doors can swell, as in my case. ❤️
Oh yikes I'm sorry you had to go through that. These days, I've switched to a different device that is easier to use and hopefully won't lock me in my room 🥴
Thank you so much for your advice. I have so many of those in my Amazon cart. Finally video a video that gets to the bottom of things and doesn’t veer off topic. You’re doing a great job helping your fellow sisters.
Thanks so much for the great ideas! I think we tend to take our safety for granted a lot. As a frequent female traveler I am all about doing whatever I can to protect myself. I just entered your giveaway. I’ve seen some other tips too on how to use a towel or 2 coat hangers to hang over your deadbolt/door lock/latch so it can’t be opened easily, just in case you forget any of these gadgets.
If you have unlockable window, patio or balcony door, put a stick or pole on or a long the track. Doing this limits the ability to open the door and how wide it will open
Great video!! You provided a lot of good safe tips. We will go and get our items for our next trip. I'll also tell my granddaughter as she will be starting college next year. I do request you talk about video cameras in rooms. This was my first time watching you, may have done one already.
@Klp85 serious question.....why? I have a complete electric house. There are no gas lines in our subdivision. I have never thought I needed one since gas is nowhere near me, and we have never used the wood burning fireplace.
I think I will purchase a door jam lock because no room but the bathrooms and the one that leads to the garage in our house has a locket. I never understood why my parents couldn't buy door handles with a locket and they already changed them two times. I live in a safe area but still I have paranoia when I go to sleep. Never realized that I could close my room without changing the handle and bring the lock jam with me when I travel so thank you for this video, I believe that if someone wants to enter they will anyway but the idea is to make it a bit more difficult for them.
Entered 😊 I really like the door stoppers, I have a set a home and they come with little holders to mount on the wall. I am concerned with the second door jammer you showed: it looks like it works really well but my concern is how fast can it be removed if there was a fire?
It's called a door latch strike plate. When the door is closed, the door latch bolt extends into the strike plate's hole, keeping the door locked. The door lock dead bolt has its own dead bolt strike plate for extra security.
I entered your contest. The bag would be perfect for my next trip to Scotland in 2024. Would love to join the group going to Iceland but my daughter is getting married in April and I'll be helping her. Enjoy the trip. thank you for all the safety suggestions and demonstrations. I will definitely be buying those and getting an extra set for my daughter for their honeymoon. You can never be too safe.
Hello, I submitted my entry for the backpack. I like how it offers a space for a laptop and it allows us to fit so much, even an insulated bag for food. I would love to use it for my upcoming trips. 😊
LOVE THAT BAG😍😍😍. I will be traveling to La Fortuna for a week with a group of friends. I was actually looking for accessible things to do during our trip. I’m so heartbroken that I’m not able to do the waterfalls 😢. I decided to check out some videos to see what I would be missing and stumbled upon your video. Must’ve been fate, huh?😂 At any rate, I do love that bag. I’m curious 👀 does it come in red?
Hi there and welcome! Yes as much as we've come in accessibility for those with mobility restrictions, we still have a long way to go. That said, there is still a viewpoint to see the waterfall but it might not be worth the entry fee. Instead, look into accessible activities like Mistico Hanging Bridges, Paradise Hot Springs, or adaptive Ziplining with Il Viaggio Travel. Of course, the town of La Fortuna is beautiful and worth a mosey on a sunny day. Sadly this bag doesn't come in red. This company is woman-owned and a small business that really put quality and care into its products. They do introduce new colors here and there so maybe they will have a red option soon.
Yay, I'm happy to hear this video was helpful! I have one product I just got before this Europe trip and I wish I had included it in the video. It's called the Door Jammer (travel version) and I linked it in my Amazon store: www.amazon.com/shop/gotravelwithstaci
can i use that carbon monoxide detector for my car or can you advice me of an easy one to use for my car. I live in my car and the air in my car is always smelling from air vents but yet my mechanic says nothings wrong with air ..idk i would just feel safer
Good choice! It's far easier to use than the other, IMO. There is also a new device that I've loving called the Door Jammer. They make a giant one for your home but I have the travel version and it's smaller than my iPhone but tough to keep the door from being opened. I linked it in my Amazon store: www.amazon.com/shop/gotravelwithstaci
Thank you for sharing these safety ideas! Even if the door alarms don't necessarily prevent people from physically entering, I bet the sound would scare the crap out of them and maybe scare them off too! I entered the giveaway, thank you so much!

Hi Stacie, just found this video that shows many products that I would like to have, especially the sliding door lock. Thank you. I just entered your giveaway.
Thank you for this video. Is there a gadget that can also test for "Toxic AC Leak Theorized as Possible Cause in Mysterious Deaths of Americans at Bahamas Resort" (If you paste this in Google, you'll see the news story). Is this the same one you shared in your video? In your vid, the story says they died from carbon monoxide poisoning, but I'm wondering if this is something else?
I heard about that story and if you ask me, something fishy was going on there. It also reported some has bizarre rashes. Anyway the last I read said it was a coolant leak, which I don't think can be ruled out as NOT being carbon monoxide. I don't think there is a travel device for this and it may have not been the reason for their demise. I take my carbon monoxide detector with me everywhere since it might be the most likely culprit for sad stories like this.
I have the second device from the first list, but i was sad because all doors here are old, so they are too loose, too uneven and all, but the little screw was news to me, mine doesn't have that level screw, now im sad again hshs

Hey be careful men and women, bartenders have been found to be the ones putting drugs in drinks. Check out stories from Texas and Nashville. Talk with your friends before you go out. Keep each other safe.
Any security gadget that you have to train your brain over and over again as to how to use it, should be thrown out! It was a waste of money. Room security should be easy to learn, as well as fast and easy to install. Unless you’re going out of your way to buy and use a perimeter alarm (which should be used outside your campsite, car, or home, security devices need to be easy and fast enough for an older child to use. Additionally, at 7:22 you introduced the portable carbon monoxide detector. PLEASE BE AWARE, that carbon monoxide gas is heavy and will hang low to the floor. I don’t believe it’s a good idea to have it next to your bed side table. If it can be temporarily propped against a wall about 10 inches from the floor and as close to the heat source as possible, this would be ideal. If you put it on your night stand and the alarm goes off, you are most likely already breathing in the gas. Let’s not do that.
I agree with you. If it's too intricate, I won't use it. These days, I don't use the door lock gadgets and instead travel with a device called a Door Jammer. It's terribly easy to set up and ultra portable. Hmm that's interesting about CO being heavy. I'll have to look into that. It makes me think about our home smoke/ CO detectors that are usually installed in home/hotel/building ceilings....🤔
