People legitimately believing Algeria, a country that jails and legally reprimands homosexuals and trans people, would send one to the Olympics to represent them is something I never really understood.
One of the athletes mentioned around 01:40 was Ewa Kłobukowska who was wrongly identified as not female in 1967 due to inadequate testing methodology used by the IAAF. All her records were erased and then a year later she became pregnant and gave birth to her son. She has still not received a formal apology from the IAAF while the shame brought onto her caused mental health issues and nearly brought her to commit suicide. I just wanted to spread awareness about it since she is polish, and so am I.
Thank you for sharing. She deserved applause and celebration. She did well. This gender fight, it's what politicians want us squabbling over so we don't think about them trying to aquire Greenland because they know climate change is real.
why do i feel like even if imane did get pregnant these people would call it fake and a psyop. the absolute refusal of some of these guys to admit they were wrong about something is insane.
Wait, women get hit in the face in women's boxing? I never would have guessed. It's just dumb how people only think women can be small with wide hips and tig ol bitties when even men have a wide variety of shapes. I bet a lot of the men complaining about Imane have bigger boobs than her but not because of genetics XD
These people must never watch women’s UFC lol. I’m still kinda shook from the Aldana vs Dumont fight. Honestly I don’t like watching it either, the women go so much longer and it gets gory. But that’s what competitive fighting is…

Either we have vastly different views or you mistook the intent in my statement, so I will elaborate a little further. I was trying to say that due to my descent into the "alt-right pipeline" 12 years ago, if things that happened today happened back then, id have felt and behaved very differently than I have whilst current events have been transpiring, seeing the negative comments people said about Imane Khelif make me angry now, id have probably laughed when i was younger.

My mom was a body builder who struggled a lot with her body image. The other female competitors felt they needed to get breast implants, so she always stood out and felt masculine. She loved exercise and showing off her hard work, but over time it just became too hard to deal with the judgement from outsiders and even other athletes. We place such weird body expectations on female athletes. Breast size, facial shape, everything is picked apart.
@@fatihisfat3506 yeah totally. When I was in middle school, I was bullied pretty hard. people liked to say I had two dads, because she was so muscular and didn't have a lot of feminine characteristics, especially when compared to their (usually Mormon tradwife) moms. She regularly placed in the top three for competitions, but one time she placed relatively low and the judges said it was because she wasn't "balanced" enough. Which is usually code in female bodybuilding for not having breasts. She looked the same she did for much larger and more difficult competitions that she won, so it was clear.
"She was hit harder than she'd ever been before!" You mean when she competed in the tournament comprised of the best of the best she came across someone better than she'd experienced before??? No way!
That comment fucking blew my mind when I first read it during the games...Imagine if fights were stopped and declared a "no contest" because someone got hit too hard. Also that Italian boxer had the worlds worst defence, she basically stepped right into the cross and used the full force of her own face to block it
Ian, you keep talking about how boxing means you consent to being in a physical fight, but you're forgetting that these people have repeatedly made a point out of not understanding what consent means in every single context where it applies. It's kind of unfair to now suddenly expect them to understand what it means
@senorjigglypuff7953 a lot of these people who are publicly bashing trans people either have a history of being sued for SA and domestic violence or openly condone violence towards women on their platforms.
"It will take a woman dying before anyone acts", after multiple women have now died due to the strict abortion laws they all supported, and the children that died after they block gun control, the list goes on. Funny that they start caring about lives being lost when it fits their agenda, but never when it's the direct result.

i love the fact that this isnt just a "she's not trans she's a real woman" video, and that you actually adress the stigma around intersex people and trans people in sports. great video.
im seeing a lot of weird people in the comments acting like imane khelif was born a man when shes literaly intersex, and to the one person who was replying to me asking if i change my mind due to those findings, no i dont, i fully support intersex and trans people in sports and hope that people can be more accepting and honestly just leave people alone. did imane have advantages? idk maybe, but she still put a lot of work into her training, and its not like sports are ever an equal field, i mean look at shaq and tell me with a straight face that he doesnt have a genetic advantage. in conclusion: who gives a shit, get a life
@seakeadrawspeople like this think that the y chromosome is some magic Lego piece on your genetics that instantly makes you Chuck Norris or some shit. I'm sure a majority of them think that the y chromosome acts as an override for the genetics on the x chromosome, they don't know how genetic pathways work. They'd probably be surprised to learn that what they think of as male body features like testes and a penis aren't encoded on the y chromosome. Deeply incurious folk
@seakeadraws I mean I think the best way to argue with people who say "Men have the innate advantage" Is to point to biological advantages outside of gender. Like the fact that Michael Phelps has an abnormally shaped body that is like, tailor made for swimming lol. Or people who are just taller in general and how tall people have an unfair biological advantage over short people. Biological differences exist and that's okay and we should build around ALL biological differences. A person should not be competing against a person who is just biologically better than them. A little shrimp man will always have to work harder to be good at basketball and that's okay I think. The Olympics is about human physiology.
Its unlikely she is even intersex. The gender test results produced by the russian boxing org very conveniently removed the only loss on their star female boxer's record.
@@TheAngryAustrian They did do tests as they do with all athletes. They have already come out and said that she cleared all tests, requirements, and authorizations put in place by the IOC. The thing I find interesting about the trans people in sports discourse is that it completely ignores that most top tier athletes simply have genetic advantages but that seemingly never really mattered until the idea of gender was threatened
Not to mention the trans women having advantages talking point isn't even true. Estrogen vastly decreases muscle mass and bone density in anyone who takes it. I can't find it right now but there was a study showing trans women are worse than, not even equal to, cis women in certain physical parameters
@IanErnst-sr1jn there's more dispute on this topic I'll admit. But, studies say there is no significant advantage if you can get puberty blockers when desired. Allowing trans people to transition and knowing their identity earlier would also help ease this so called "advantage". I fail to see any evidence. Other than right wingers claiming cis men are chomping at the bit to punch women. Like men already get away with domestic violence daily.
That’s almost a salient point, except we already separate most sports by gender. Allowing someone with most of the genetic advantages of one gender, to compete against the other gender, breaks that rule. Now, I expect you’ll imply that we shouldn’t separate sports by gender, and that’s a fine suggestion, I wouldn’t really have a problem with that. I imagine most female athletes would, though. There are very few (if any) sports based on pure athleticism that would allow any women to even place in the top 100, if any. I do think sports like shooting, archery, etc (almost exclusively skill based) should be non-gendered, though.
@@Forkuh You know nothing about biology so stop acting like you do. There are no inborn "genetic advantages" to being a gender, only ones caused by sex hormones which are malleable. Everything that gives you an advantage in sports like lung capacity, bone density, muscle mass, fast twitch muscle fibers etc are all determined by your dominant sex hormone (estrogen+progesterone+testosterone). Trans people alter their bodies' physical makeup by taking hormones of the opposite sex which gives them the physical capabilities of that sex. That's why male-to-females become much weaker after transition and female-to-males become faster and stronger

Since when do these people care about women? Way more women die from anti-abortion laws than boxing.
💯 these people that care so much about the existence of trans women don't care about life or women, they care about controlling and subjugating.
@@emilsstrals5835 That is apparently false. I even looked it up. The risk of death due to an abortion is very negligible (according to WHO smaller than 1 in 100.000 in "safe abortion" but well only "safe abortion" counts because "unsafe abortion" is just a sketchy thing that more likely occures if abortion is banned).
There is a higher increase deaths through giving birth through the passing of an anti-abortion law.
@realbugi6110 I think that's what they meant.
Real
@@YMS09D I replied to someone who said the opposite... but that person deleted their comment :/
The thing I find interesting about the trans people in sports discourse is that it completely ignores that most top tier athletes simply have genetic advantages but that seemingly never really mattered until the idea of gender was threatened
I think there is basketball player that doesn't sweat and basically he doesn't get blisters during the training and matches.
Idea: bring back content cop but w/ politicians

the worst part is that if she LOOKED conventionally beautiful, nobody would bat an eye. people would be swooning over her, and those cringe 'trad west' instagram pages would be pumping out soyjacks and chad reels with her in them as the chads as the 'kind of woman we want'
It’s no use. You heard that one woman say that anyone 5’10” or taller is a man; therefore, even many of the hottest models from “western” countries like the Netherlands and Croatia where people are actually taller than Americans on average are gonna be disqualified. Remember folks: if anyone tells you that racism against white people isn’t a thing, just remind them that folks who are racist against POC end up being racist against other white folks as well. It’s their nature and they cannot help it.

Agreed. He's standing up and saying something out loud, which may be controversial, and does it in his style with a quirky and funny sense of humor and edits. He doesn't care what you think and he's standing up for what he thinks ought to be said about something.
