Just started playing this beautiful, wonderful game. I had a real hard time at the start because of the controls! So if you are finding it tricky to get into this game, it might be your control scheme as the default one was bonkers for me. It took over an hour of messing around to find the right setup as there are so many controls and not so many buttons. I found it really confusing to hover up and down using the Left stick when it feels like it should be thrust. Here the perfect controller scheme that works for me (Xbox 360 controller): Thrust - left stick up Reverse - left stick down Strafe - left stick left + right Boost - left trigger Fire primary weapon - right trigger Hover up - left shoulder button + left stick up Hover down - left shoulder button + left stick down Roll - right bumper + left stick left / right Target enemy - left stick button Fire secondary - right stick button Next primary weapon - B Next secondary weapon - Y Next consumable - X Next item - A Use consumable - D pad left Use item - D pad right Change camera - D pad up Freelook - D pad down
Kooblay Khan every tool has its advantage. For platformer 2D games controller is definitely the way to go but everything that require to aim and does not have lock target feature, no thanks.
I'm good at console and PC FPS and there is just no way the best console controller player in the world can touch the best mouse user in any FPS. Games like this with 3 dimensional space combat might be an exception, depending on how important movement is vs. fine aim.
I play M&K and controller aswell. I kill with both. Its a matter of recalibrating yourself. Not your settings or button config. I know alot like to argue some factors and yes they are true. The actual battle is to get used to it. Its you that needs adjusting. FPS - Go with M&K If you use a controller its a challenge. Ive done it and still killed but i had to change up my play style. All other games controller is king.
Even better than trying to stay on their six is to start at max range, back pedal and spiral straffe while firing. If they get close, move in until they start to turn, then start backpeddling and continue. Works wonders.
@@MrJamienordli I believe he's talking about the maneuver where you move in circles while flying backwards. Basically, if the enemy you're focused on (or their weapon fire) is the center of a clock, you're going clockwise (or counter) around that center point while moving backwards. A good chunk of their weapon fire will miss you.
Any strategy that ends with "shooting a couple of missiles" will do wonders in EverSpace. I certainly hope that strategies involving the 3d landscape will have a place in the future. It doesn't yet seem to be the case. I hope to have a better indication of the location of enemies. We are missing a "globe" kind of indicator. The enemy arrow indicator gives little clue where the enemy is in relation to you, which would be very useful in a game where you try to use small items to break Line-Of-Sight. Your approaches makes sense, but I don't feel that the game really rewards those strategies yet.
Hahaha, any strategy? "Fly right into the asteroid...fire a few missiles." SUCCESS! I agree with your assessments on how the indicators are lacking. That may be a developer decision. Forcing players to have to reorient to fight.
Thanks for showing missile dodging. The missile vs nanobot cost realisation has really made me enjoy this game. Thank you. Have been taking advantage of missiles. Also Killed a couple of okka cruisers by hiding behind a rock a whittling down its health. Lol great tips and very interesting to see you play in first person view
i kinda dont realy get this game, whats like the main purpose of it? i die and lose everything exept money so i can get skillpoints? but what about the weapons i got? Any way or chance to recover or keep them? so basicly you are money grinding till you get to a point where you can progress? IM SO CONFUSED
"I have no strategies for fighting war ships" *immediately gets one shotted by war ship* Moral of the story: do not fuck with war ships. lmfao Great tips m8, i just got this game on Switch and looking for any advice i can get, this was extremely helpful especially the bit about boosting at the last minute to avoid missiles, i had no idea you could do that.
I like watching the first-person mode. But you should really stay away from the rocks as much as possible. You keep hitting them and hurting your ship. I always head out into open space when the battle starts. I have yet to wowie myself on a rock. FOV=field of view.

Thrust - left stick up
Reverse - left stick down
Strafe - left stick left + right
Boost - left trigger
Fire primary weapon - right trigger
Hover up - left shoulder button + left stick up
Hover down - left shoulder button + left stick down
Roll - right bumper + left stick left / right
Target enemy - left stick button
Fire secondary - right stick button
Next primary weapon - B
Next secondary weapon - Y
Next consumable - X
Next item - A
Use consumable - D pad left
Use item - D pad right
Change camera - D pad up
Freelook - D pad down
Great tips, I also didn't realise that you can craft more missiles.
I would always choose precise mouse aiming over small movement increments of a joystick.
That is a big advantage of that tool!

You csn get precision just fine with a controller if you set it up correctly. It's a matter of your skill with said tool.

15:00 Just like Beggars Canyon back home. Han made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs.
"I can't shake em!"
Reminds me a bit of the old game Descent - you have the same movement axis as this game.
Even better than trying to stay on their six is to start at max range, back pedal and spiral straffe while firing. If they get close, move in until they start to turn, then start backpeddling and continue. Works wonders.
Spiral strafe?

Barrel rolls?
If you told me this guy played this game twice before making this video I would believe you

Ace! I'm warming to this game.

A very decent tutorial. Thanks.
I find the controller system on the Xbone a bit better, loving the game though...
You mean compared to the 360 controller I was using on this pc? How's it different?
Kooblay Khan Oh were you!! Most videos I've watched have posters using keyboard and mouse....
Jiraiya_Ero_Sannin Controller all the way. I grew up console and never really switched.
Kooblay Khan All good I'm originally PC but like all 'true' old school gamer's; no matter the preference - all gaming is good gaming!!
Jiraiya_Ero_Sannin agreed :)
How do you save your progress when you stop playing
i kinda dont realy get this game, whats like the main purpose of it? i die and lose everything exept money so i can get skillpoints? but what about the weapons i got? Any way or chance to recover or keep them?

IM SO CONFUSED
How do you insert yourself on top of the gaming video?
I use OBS and a green screen. It's a very useful trick!
Trust me.. skips own recording at 00:50
That enemy didn't kill itself, it was shot down by A GB Fighter...Perhaps I misunderstood what you were saying but he didn't come close to the meteor.
My bad!
Joystick sucks balls when it comes to aiming and aiming is very very important.
It can be tough. I do find it to be much better for maneuvering and strafing.
Jeezis im having issues with using a controller for aiming
"I have no strategies for fighting war ships" *immediately gets one shotted by war ship*
Moral of the story: do not fuck with war ships. lmfao

holy shit, this guys makin a vid on combat strats and cannot even hit 1/100 bullets on a point blank enemy. what kind of aim am i witnessing rn
He also said always move in combat (no quick charge during downtime?) And I noticed he hasn't mastered the circular strafe dodge
How are you playing this?
with thumbs ;)
lol

This guy is so, so bad, and this video is so, so lazy. It's genuinely hilarious, all his tips just end up making him look terrible 😆
You talk way too much.
This game is impossible, and all around horrible!!!
Gotta find the controls that work for u
GIT GUD
Try 3rd person, I find it easier
