I loveeee this. This is so versatile. You can literally wear it anytime of the year. Layer it with a turtleneck or long sleeve shirt underneath and some booties or boots. Throw a leather jacket on top in the fall. or wear as is for the spring and summer. It can be worn with sneaks or sandals, flats or heels. omg I have to do this! thank you for this tutorial. You were right on distressing the dress, it totally made the look intentional. I have an oversize pair of olive green cargo pants that are very long that I thrifted and this just might work better as a dress, than the skirt I was thinking of transforming it into. Thanks for sharing and Ta Ta for now.
Good question! The buckling may due to the fit. Us who have a little more back there have that issue often. You may need to make it a loser fit and take it in the center seam up the back

Do you think this can be done with heavy denim or only stretchy jeans ?
I believe it can be done with heavy denim but you'd have to make sure you get the exact measurements. Stretch denim allows for more room for fit.
