I’ve been viewing several lessons on this song. Yours is the first to get the strum pattern right and also the little nuances for those chords. Thank you very much. You’ve been very helpful and generous with your time! God Bless you!
I also like this lesson very much. But, I would not care too much what others think. Not liking is just an opinion. Can also be just a feeling. I was writing technical books when I was young and I always had the struggle: if it is too detailed, it is boring for experts, if it is a little bit short form, it could not be understood by the beginners. You must know your audience to fit the correct level.
An excellent lesson Jackson. I've been strummin' and pickin' around campfires for over 40 years and I still appreciate it, anytime someone shows me something new. A very relaxed instruction method you have, and anyone who says that you talk to much, doesn't have enough patience to learn how to play well. Thankyou for allowing us access to your guitar playing knowledge, and please, keep it comin'.
I'm amazed at how ungrateful many pickers are over a FREE lesson. I'm grateful these lessons are available at no cost. I'm 70 years old and cant afford lessons but like spending time learning new - guitar. Please rethink your comments.
Thank you August for sharing that. I have to confess I sometimes wonder myself. I certainly don't mind honest criticism especially if it's musically accurate. Sometimes it's just the manner that's the issue. Just my thoughts..
Couldn't agree more, what a resource we have here and it's unbelievable how these ingrates can be so critical. I'm around your age and what we wouldn't have given for this in the 60s. I'm always so grateful for the trouble taken in these tutorials. Thanks to macerockson and all who provide them - mostly for free.
@@jerseyjess6151 I agree. I'm 73 and spent hours listening to records to get the words and chords right, or spent money on sheet music. The UA-cam is a blessing and I appreciate especially this artist here. Great teacher and player and good vocal, as well.
It is called Trolling, when people have nothing better to do but write negative comments on someone else's video. Who out of their love for the subject took the time to make a video and post it for FREE on UA-cam.
Great lesson Bro, I'm only playin 3 months now & this is the first song I learned, but only using open chords, This is how it supposed to be played & I'm gonna get to work in it right away...Thanks for you time & effort !!!
As another comment was said fogarty's strumming pattern is the trickiest part those muted strings or ghost notes can keep throwing you off if you unless you're really really work on it and get it right you really break down nicely and I believe that it's practice practice practice thanks for all your advice 😊👍 Jay
HI Jackson you give great lessons great for both beginners and advanced players you also give some interesting background to some songs that I have looked at however an interesting footnote to Bad Moon is that J F down tuned by a whole tone and played in D using the open "E" position on some songs giving that big swampy sound that CCR had on some songs.
Scuse me while I kiss this guy - Sorry, had to follow you up. :) Thank you so much for this great lesson. I play a lot of solo gigs, and really try to fake it as little as possible (even if I need a Harmonica to compensate). There's something about Fogerty's playing that I can't wrap my whole head around. They say It can all be traced back to Suzie Q. but there's so much more. Thanks for bringing me a little closer to understanding Fogerty. No to mention giving me a helluva great new tune to play at my next gig. :)
In my 'umble opinion That is a hell of a good lesson ! Many thanks..especially the picked notes ahead of the chords..not easy for me, but they make all the difference to the overall sound of the song and i will look forward to getting it (and checking out your History !) Thanks again -and Chow for now.
Whoah! Most helpful and useful video out here on UA-cam. I picked up Margaritaville pretty quickly from your video over there. This one is next on my "easy song" list so this too will be VERY useful to me. By any chance have you done a video on "There She Goes" by The La's? That is one great simple pop song that is a cross between relaxed and rocking, but maybe cloer to relaxed. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks. Great lesson again and as a kind reminder - sometimes your fingers are covered up by your knuckles and the observer / student has to mess around a bit to find the right position of the fingers for the bridge cords your playing..
Love your videos, could you tell us that are learning what strings you use for different songs...example what strings would you use for Frampton "baby I love your way?"
Thanks Mace! If you want to talk on your own video then do it! Love this old song, and it always seems appropriate. Now I need to go find a bathroom on the right.
It is Sam Cooke, not Cookie. That is the blue guy on Sesame Street who eats a lot of cookies. Blue Moon was done by The Marcels. And I agree with you Molly Kelly, it would be a great one to learn!
Gentle piece of advice. Your lesson was good, but it took 3-4 minutes to get to it. This is the major piece when I am looking for a guitar lesson on You-Tube. I usually give it one minute of talking before I switch to another lesson. On this one I was curious to see how long you would talk before getting to the lesson. Less talk, get right to the lesson and I will follow you.
Nice tutorial! Really! I'd like to request another song. "Don't bring me down" by E.L.O. but... for Acoustic Guitar please. Is that possible? Thank you in advance.
Thanks macerockson! That was a great lesson. I will play it when my guitar gets out of the shop. Did you ever play with John Denver? I thought I saw you in a John Denver special I think it was Christmas in Aspen with John Denver. Please let me know. Just curious. Keep up the great work ! Thanks
I would advise everyone to speed up to 4:15 to the start of this lesson on this video if you want to finally get the guitar lesson but if you like hearing him talk start from the beginning

Seriously how can you guys hate this lesson.. It's probably the most accurate one on UA-cam by far..
I agree. It’s the best I’ve found. The dislikes are likely from those that can’t play barre chords.
I also like this lesson very much. But, I would not care too much what others think. Not liking is just an opinion. Can also be just a feeling. This is definitely one of the most instructive and comprehensive explanations of how to play this particular song.

I agree but it’s not worth thinking too hard about it. UA-cam is like a cat box, always a couple stinky turds.

Sir you are something else. The way you talk and impart the lessons is just superb. Thank you for being my mentor
Lesson starts at 4:00 just fyi.
Thanks for the lesson!
Right on the money, excellent teacher!! I'll never look at the moon the same way again😁
I think the fact that u sing along helps tremendously really

I really enjoy your videos and you have the nicest, relaxed manner of anyone on youtube.
When I was a kid I always wanted to learn to play this song. Thank's to UTube and you senor with this very good video I can now play it.
Awesome teaching lesson is great eep up the good work thanks for this video, your skills and knowledge of Mr John Foggerty guitar play.
Nice lesson, there's lots out there on this one, a simple song well taught. Singing it is the real challenge.

Good
thanks for the great gutar playing
Nice video, and your lucid commentary and easy demeanour should be an example for some of the others trying to make instructional videos on Utube.
I find myself throwing some CCR in gospel song I do in church! LOL. I love this song, thank you.
Love your videos, could you tell us that are learning what strings you use for different songs...example what strings would you use for Frampton "baby I love your way?"
I love this version even though I have trouble with Barr chords
maginifique !!!
ça c'est une leçon !

Thx from Australia.
Thanks Mace! If you want to talk on your own video then do it!
Love this old song, and it always seems appropriate.
Now I need to go find a bathroom on the right.
I no longer see the video of ILL NEVER FIND ANOTHER YOU could you upload it again? thank you
WHAT'S THE INTRO SONG CALLED?
Keep posting your lessons, they are great and really helpfull! Thanks!
Great!
Well done.Keep it Up & Never Give Up
GREAT LESSON, TANKS.-
Thank you
You don't need the bar chord g, a, and d. All you need is the open chords.
True, but then it doesn't really sound right. It's distinctive. Glad I found a lesson that describes how it was played.
Your a good guitar player
It is Sam Cooke, not Cookie. That is the blue guy on Sesame Street who eats a lot of cookies.
Blue Moon was done by The Marcels. And I agree with you Molly Kelly, it would be a great one to learn!
This is great thank you so much
@snafu1963 yeah ... it's a good old dog ... bought it new in the 70s.

Hey Thanks!!!!!
Hi Jackson- Thanks for the great lesson. question for you- In the rhythm solo part, isn't that a 6th, not a 7th that you are adding to A and G?
Porca mastela no capichi nhente, beatful song music
hey could u do blue moon by sam cookie?
@snafu1963 Thanks!
I LOVE that Aria can I have it? :-) just kidding! I own an Aria Dreadnought AD-35N and love it, irreplaceable in my humble opinion!
PEACE!
Thanks
No ..... opened for a few bigger acts here in Canada but no one of John's stature.
OH by the way great lesson, Thanks!
PEACE!
That song is called at the beginning of a clip???
This is a bit more of a rocker can you do Ziggy stardust?
Less introduction, more lesson!!
+Rob Dam Hi Rob...UA-cam has introduced a new feature in their videos where you can use the mouse cursor and skip sections of video. Try it, it works!
Rob Dam en
Call me crazy but during the solo I think he adds a sixth to the a and G chords?
john tuned down a whole step and played this song in E, in standard tuning it does not sound right. same with proud marry.
Great tip! Thank you! Here is a lesson for that guitar version. m.ua-cam.com/video/lC28MizTnxE/v-deo.html
2 seconds ago
the intro song is actually better than bad moon rising
Eric Clapton - Layla
