Thank you so much for your videos on urban planning and community development. I'm currently in grad school for planning and have also discovered that a "traditional" planning career is not for me so I really appreciate hearing your perspective as someone who is working directly with communities/ small business owners in a non-profit! Would love to hear more about your job search process and how you discovered your current position and how you prepared for the interview. Thanks! Sending my best wishes to Philly.

Hi Quesadiyah, thanks for making this video! I loved hearing how life was as a corridor manager in Philly during the Black Lives Matter protests. Wow. Those are some crazy (and unfortunate) coincidences. Everything that's been going on hit you so directly. Urban planning has more reach than I thought it did. The video was great, thanks for sharing your experiences!

Would you go over the most important/influential courses you took in your undergrad and masters career that have shaped your knowledge on Urban and City planning? Like what classes helped you form a fundamental understanding to put it simply. Thanks!

Thank you so much for sharing your journey this past crazy year! Burn out is real, especially when you are up against the impact of larger systemic issues, you doing great girl!! P.s. "There goes the neighbourhood" was a great podcast on gentrification. Not sure if you already covered this in a previous vid, but would love to hear more about what your job-hunting experience was like :)

Thank you so much for this video ! Sometimes I forget how involved you can be in a job and in certain situations, especially during the COVID crisis.
And the fact that you could set boundaries even during this time is incredible, I loved the tips you gave.
I loved learning about this job because I've never heard if it before, and I guess if you want to get involved with your community or with people it's a good job to do.

Thank you so much for creating these videos that give your insight into the application process (having gone through it and grad school) and also what it's like working in urban planning. You're super engaging and just really easy to listen to :) and appreciate that you share things so candidly. I've been thinking about a career in urban planning for like 4 years now, haha and still feel so nervous bc of the financial investment (all that debt again sigh); hearing you talk about your work and its fulfillment but also its very real struggles and challenges and how so many things intersect is inspiring and definitely add even more reasons for my pull towards planning. Also love your recommendations! Warmth of Other Suns was so so so so excellent and totally super related to urban planning because the policies and migration patterns have impacts to this day, and the Last Black Man in SF was beautiful. I'll have to add the others to my list! The work you do is super important and, like others have stated here, I hope you are taking care of yourself and setting those boundaries that you remind your viewers to have!

Invest in a lapelle mic. There's some that plug directly into your phones aux or lightning port.

These challenging times are going to shape the leaders of tomorrow. Keep pushing, keep moving forward your community and city is blessed with your presence, and the work you do. I'm a professional planner and the virus and civil unrest has made my work feel hopeless at times too. But when everything is taken away from a community, the community planners are the last line of defense. Keep up the good work and I pray for your continued success. A topic I would love to hear your insight on is your experience studying and working in the US and the UK. From your personal experience, how does the planning profession change from these two places, and could you see yourself working abroad?

I did urban planning (HND) I also want to further in the UK but getting a job is something I haven't heard any good news about, so I need advice on the area of specification that may likely be easier getting a job when done.

Have you thought about doing a go fund me page for the community you work in and reach out with a social campaign to perhaps put some order back in to the community as well as putting the message across that when people riot they aren’t directly attacking the government but what they are doing is effecting the space in which they live . In order for a community to thrive, I believe that we have to get the message across that we the people have a duty to keep the community . Just like citizens arrest for example etc .
