Hey friends,
Back with another urban planning-themed vlog!
In this video I share a few recent days in my life, which include zoom meetings, a candid conversation about my feelings regarding my role, and some other random bits thrown in. I wanted to film this video to provide insight into a career path that is not super well known/frequently discussed. Hope you enjoy!
I work as a commercial corridor manager:
Corridor Managers facilitate physical improvements, connect small businesses with resources and programs, market the corridors to attract shoppers and more businesses, engage the community, oversee cleaning programs, and more.
To hear me talk more about the specifics of my role, please check out the vlog I did a few months ago: • vlog: work week in my ...

Thanks for watching, and see you in my next video!
I just finished my 3rd week as a geography and planning student. Wouldn't have chosen it without you! It's fun
Loved this video, I'm taking a module on community organizing this term and I really appreciated getting your insight into this path! You mentioned that you could be doing a different job and earning a lot more and I deffo relate to that feeling of responsibility over "giving back" to the city and having an ethical job, and if it's something you see yourself doing I would love a video about how urban planning as a field can either improve or help perpetuate bad conditions in cities, like the ambivalence between careers in com development and downtown planning offices for instance. Thanks, and good luck with everything! :)
Love that you shared that experience with us in your job and wish the best for your future career plans
Love this video and your channel. So much insight.
That's so interesting you are doing community work and your job doesn't require you to have a car. I'm an outreach coordinator and it's literally in my job description to have a vehicle, but they don't compensate for cost of maintaining a vehicle. But I am so interested in doing the type of work you do. Also I feel like we have similar thought on community outreach and the day to day. I appreciate you being so open and honest about your job.
Thanks for the honesty.
We need more videos like this!!
Planning to film some new content soon!
you crack me up! Love the content
Thanks for watching! 😃
You have the best youtube intro ever it’s fire😭😭
Thank you 😂!
so excited!!!
Love your videos !
Hi Sadiyah, thank you for sharing your journey on here. I am an urban planner myself, based in South Africa. I am trying to navigate through the job market abroad, do you perhaps have any tips on how to go about finding jobs for international candidates? And have you personally ever considered working for government?
I have been enjoying all the videos you have about your profession as i try to decide if i want to go that way as well. It would be awesome if the audio was more balanced, as the music and effects are much louder than your speaking (it seems like those effects and music are normal volume compared to other videos on YT and your speaking is what should be tweaked). TY TY TY for this detailed content!!!
thank you for the feedback!
I'm also a Sadiyah and an Urban Planner ❤
Nice to meet you! :)
I so feel you on what level do I want to be in a position to help/yet at what cost of my own well-being 👏🙌🏼♥️thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching 😊
