wow absolutely loved your video. the cake looks sooooo gorgeous and you made it look so easy. what a great idea carving the head of the teddy bear while attached to the body. makes it easier to size the head while joined. thank you for sharing.
You are incredibly talented! I love the quilted look on the paws and ears and pretty much the whole cake! I have a ton to learn from you this is incredible work!!
Thank you so much! You can use any buttercream recipe but it’s helpful if you put a few tablespoons of meringue powder in so the frosting stiffens and dries. I don’t have much of a buttercream recipe, I use about 4 sticks of sweet cream butter and then add 2 teaspoons for every stick of butter. Use clear vanilla :) I then add about 2 cups powdered sugar or until I think it tastes sweet enough. I hope that helps!
Does this cake travel well? Do you use just buttercream? Should I use supports and ganache to be more sturdy? It has to travel around an hour in stop and go traffic.
That’s a great question! I’ve found that it travels well, as long as your braking slowly. Just make sure that if it’s on a tall cake stand, it’s in someone’s lap :) I hope that helps!
this looks amazing,im going to try and make this for a friends little girls birthday but was wondering which frosting you used, was it a butter cream one, could you give us the recipie, also how much meringue powder should you put in the frosting.im in the uk so the measurments may be a bit different.thank you

Great questions and I'm so glad you asked. Sorry if I didn't answer them in the video. I used a regular brown gel food coloring from walmart to color it and the liquid I'm using to stick everything together is just water. Fondant is super concentrated sugar so when I paint a little water on, it gets super sticky. You can buy edible glue but I've never needed it because water works so well.
Thank you! That means so much! The color I used was a simple brown gel food coloring from Walmart. The video made the color much more yellow than it was in real life. I tried to correct it but the thumbnail is the most accurate for what it really was. 🥰
Great question! Are you referring to a lid that goes onto a cake holder? I’ve never found one that’s tall enough for any of my cakes so I work without them. I put my cakes directly into the fridge until the frosting cools enough to harden and then I bring it out just long enough to wrap it in plastic wrap. I hope that helps!
So inspired! I can’t wait to try make this. What size cake tins did you use please? And when you put it in the fridge to harden did you wrap in cling wrap?
A question I have is where the actual like flavor and filling ? What does it taste like? Since there’s usually filling in the cakes at least where I live 😅😅❤ lovely cake tho
Thank you!! I’m so glad you found the video helpful and you are more than welcome to put it in the fridge but be careful of the fondant. When cold fondant hits room temp air (especially in high humidity areas like where we live in the South) it clings to the humidity and looks “sweaty”, ha ha. Not ideal. I like to leave my cake out of the fridge for that reason but if you need to put it in that’s fine :)

This looks so easy and so much less expensive that one of those vintage Wilton 3D Teddy Bear pans. I want to learn to sculpt so I will start here. How much meringue should be added to a frosting recipe?
I want to mention that even though the recipe includes a cake mix box, the recipe is doctored up so much that it doesn't taste or act like it at all. I love this recipe.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. It seems so easy. My daughter is turning 6 in April, and, unless we're under lockdown measures, she's inviting her schoolmates for the first time. It'll be a great moment for her to discover this lovely teddy bear ! Do you think I can use swiss meringue buttercream for the fur? Thanks a lot ! Lauren (Paris - France)
Thank you so much and happy birthday to your sweet daughter! I have three girls myself and absolutely love them. I’m quite sure you can use Swiss meringue buttercream for the fur but you might want to have a backup frosting available in case it doesn’t work. Let me know how it goes and I hope you’re able to invite your daughter’s schoolmates! ❤️
I just wanted to thank you again for the video and the tips. Unfortunately we're under lockdown measures, so the birthday party with friends is taking place in May. We celebrated today with her grand-parents only, but the cake looked and tasted good... No need to have plenty friends, she was happy with it !
@@TheLittleBlackShadeTree Thank you! ☺️ Actually there will be 15 people, I was typing too fast 😅 one more question, would the cake still be stabile, if I put a bit more cream in between the layers?
I do not believe white chocolate ganache would work, based off my experience with regular chocolate ganache. In my experience, ganache is not stiff enough unless it's really cool and then it would be too thick to squeeze out of the tiny piping tips. Good question!
Yikes! Yes, frosting sure can get heavy...and so can cake in general for that matter, ha ha. Stabilizing the cake is a great idea, especially if you ever have to transport it. Driving cakes in my car always gives me a heart attack :)
That's a great question! I think the two most unusual cakes I've done are my roadkill cake and cockroach cake. Although I made a tank once that fired a confetti popper!

I didn’t have meringe powder, is it be the same if I use swiss meringe buttercream?
Great question! Swiss meringue buttercream is tasty but does not harden like frosting with added meringue powder.

Can I use double cream frosting instead of butter cream to cover and fur
I'm not familiar with double cream frosting but it sounds like it would work as long as it is relatively stiff.
